So many of us see gambling mainly as a game of luck, but i think studying games very well and knowing how to predict games also plays a very important role. Two people can bet same amount of money and have completely different results at the end of the day because of the prediction. And one of the biggest problems so far is knowing when to stop. After losing bets, it is very easy to become emotional and increase the stake just because you want to recover the previous loss. The same thing can happen after winning, when confidence makes someone start taking bigger risks.

What do you guys think is more important in gambling? And what is the biggest mistake you have made while gambling?

Been a professional in gambling is knowing when to walk away thats what makes you a responsible gambler, and also when you are using money you can afford to lose gamble .

On a norms before you can be become a gambler you will know how to predict games and also a suitable options to bet on, taking time to select your games doesn't guarantee that you are going to win, teams you thought they will win may end up losing but there is a high chance of winning when you make some good selections.

There is no need in chasing loss in gambling this is where most gamblers get it wrong, you will make many mistakes when your mind is not stable, instead of chasing loss to recover previous lost it's better to walk away for some time and this won't make you a coward.

You need to make the difference between betting and gambling so that we know that you are talking about a game of skill, as I generally classify casino games to be gambling and betting for anything that has to do with prediction.

That's for that. As for my emotional control, when you treat gambling as a means of earning, it will be hard for you to get over every loss, but if you always register it at the back of your mind that the next game might just lose, it’s easy for you to stake within the limit. More important in which concept? Generally what's more important in gambling is that a gambler should not take gambling as sustainable source of income, otherwise they will get addicted and they will lose so much money that they didn't plan to lose. Based on different topics that has been discussed here in the past, gamblers here are now able to differentiate between games that totally depends on luck and games that depends on skills, so your notion about many people thinking that gambling is just a game of luck is wrong, many people here knows that we have games or luck and games that requires skill.

I might be wrong but still I feel that a lot of gamblers have made the mistake to stake on a bad game because of overconfident meanwhile they would not have staked on the game if they had done a good analysis. I have made that mistake too, I lost the game because I was too confident.

The main thing is to have a strategy and stick to it. If your analysis is solid, that's what will drive your profit. Emotional bets can win sometimes, but over the long run you'll lose more than you win with them.
If your risk and money management works well, your analysis is good, and your bet size is planned and tied to your bankroll - you can make a profit.

P.S. It only sounds easy. In reality, every item on this list is hard enough. When you've been betting for a long time, it gets dull, and most of us need some excitement to stay interested. As a result - mistakes.

No matter how skilled you are, without luck, you are still going to have a huge loss rate.

There are so many things that contribute to the outcome of a game aside from the patterns that you make use of during prediction; there are so many uncontrollable variables, and even with your skill, even if it is top tier, without luck you really can't account for those variables, and that is the reason you see a lot of pros still fail or those with decades of experience still lose to someone who is just starting. It is not always about the skill.

I will not totally dispute the fact that gambling involves someone skills or knowledge, but also, some level of luck is also attached to winning a bet. The reason being that gambling is all about prediction, and their is no precision. I do follow tipsters sometimes, and even make use of AI sometimes in making predictions, but still encounter errors, and loss of matches. But while gambling is a combination of skills, and luck, skills plays the main role. Those gamblers who are skillful, and smart often win their bet even though they loose sometimes, but those who totally depend on luck picks game without properly analyzing them. Sometimes the bookmakers can use some odds to confuse gamblers, but is only these skillful gamblers that can outsmart them sometimes.

Like some guys said, luck is important but with our knowledge we can that "bad luck" to put at lower level, and if we know something about, coaches, players, or we watch them playing, not just highlights, we can do good job I believe.

What is most important in gambling is risking what you can afford to lose no matter the situation you find yourself in. Gambling can be very deceptive but when you stick to your rules, you’ll not find it hard passing through the whole gambling process. The biggest mistake gamblers make is them always trying to chase their losses after facing some loss in their bets. Chasing your loss is like you trying to give more to the market. You are not in your right mindset and you can easily make mistake that will affect your whole capital. Gambling is to be followed up gradually, not something to rush into as it will affect your overall final outcome when you do that.

Sheer instinct, emotional control and capital management contribute more to luck than anyone can imagine, because one can be so good at predicting the outcome of games but without the three skills combined, it's hard to get any good win.

We train our instincts when we do proper research and analysis, we also learn to have emotional control from having experience and research knowledge, also applies to capital management that makes one know how to limit gambling activities for the day or know when to call it quits for the day or know when to increase or not increase amount of stakes in any games we choose to gamble on.

Both skill and luck are important in gambling, though it all depends on the kind of games you're talking about. Because games like slots, crash, and dice are based on chance, your analysis and prediction won't be useful because the house edge will always catch up to you.
 To perform better overall in sports betting, poker, and blackjack, your skill, luck, and prediction are crucial. However, in which gambling games you're talking about emotional control and bankroll management are more crucial than skill and prediction?

For something very uncertain, the outcome of the match is not certain; it would be very unwise to take it seriously or take it as a "job". Even experts in this field are still incurring losses and yet you would see someone say that they are going to take gambling as a source of income because they know much about sports and they believe that they can produce some decent result with their predictions; that person is simply just setting himself up for failure because, as I said in my previous post, there are so many variables involved in sports and even with your superiority in terms of experience, you still can't make up for those variables. You would still be at the mercy of luck no matter who you are.

Luck plays a big role in making a profit through gambling, we must accept this. However, it is very important to gamble by doing research so that the gambler can gamble with awareness and protect himself from big losses. Knowing when to stop gambling feels like an ideal thing every gambler should learn. Don't gamble blindly if you are on a winning or losing streak. Know that out of the many bets you are making, is few wins you are going to have, the rest will be losses.

Most of the studying is done by the bookmakers already because you will rarely find odds that are off. They have improved a lot over the years, have gained the resources to nonstop improve their systems and are most likely using AI systems these days to double check and refine their odds. The balancing has become quicker, the live betting odds have become more accurate, and if you still think you can outcompete bookmakers in the long with betting on sports, prove it.

When is the right time to stop? Couldn't you become as emotional when you have a once in a lifetime run? Would you stop then or try to ride the wave?

I believe that the edges you can find have continuously going down because of system improvements of the bookmakers.

Luck decides what is a mistake and what is not. If you put $10 on odds of 100 and you get it right, it doesn't make you a genius. If you get it wrong, it doesn't make you stupid although many would say you are stupid because you took the risk.

As you said, the biggest problem that is not understood right now is when to stop when to win or lose.

Because when winning the desire to keep gambling or betting is greater because of feeling "OK this is my day and I can earn more" But the fact is that losing more happens.
Winnings are taken away again by gambling All that remains is a regret and even those who are not satisfied will continue to bet with additional funds which makes the losses even more.

Gambling is a game of luck and no one has the power to control luck. If someone gambles in a casino, no matter how well he knows about the game, it will not change. But if someone bets on sports, if he has good experience with that sport and has good knowledge about the match, then even if he does not get a certain win, his chances of winning can increase a lot. There are some who have good knowledge and experience about gambling, but have they benefited a lot from gambling or have they been able to change their lives through gambling? Of course, there is no certainty in gambling. Winning in gambling is not guaranteed, but if responsible gambling can be practiced, that is a great achievement for the gambler. I think the most important thing in gambling is self-control, especially stopping yourself at any moment. The biggest mistake is not being able to control yourself after winning.

The most important thing for me when it comes to gambling is to always keep in mind that gambling can never provide consistent wins. Even when it comes to sports betting, luck still plays an important role in the end because a strong team can lose to a weaker team.
