So many of us see gambling mainly as a game of luck, but i think studying games very well and knowing how to predict games also plays a very important role. Two people can bet same amount of money and have completely different results at the end of the day because of the prediction. And one of the biggest problems so far is knowing when to stop. After losing bets, it is very easy to become emotional and increase the stake just because you want to recover the previous loss. The same thing can happen after winning, when confidence makes someone start taking bigger risks.

The thing is, you are mixing sports betting with casino gambling, but they are both different despite both being types of gambling. Studying games, doing research and analysis, and then making prediction does make an important role, but that only works in sports betting, because in sports betting, you have historical data to play around with, and that data gives you an idea and understanding of how a specific team or player has been performing recently, you can know their form and general abilities, you can compare them with other players and teams based on their overall stats, etc. After all that, you will understand which side has a higher probability of winning, and then you make your prediction.

On the other hand, when we talk about casino gambling, none of these things work in it, because you can't study a game that relies completely on luck and chance, you can't make predictions in a casino game where the result is generated through RNG systems and the result is always random. This is why, no knowledge, experience, or strategy can help someone when they are playing gambling games, but these things can help them if they are into sports betting because as we discussed, knowledge and experience can give you an edge in sports betting.

Like some guys said, luck is important but with our knowledge we can that "bad luck" to put at lower level, and if we know something about, coaches, players, or we watch them playing, not just highlights, we can do good job I believe.

For something very uncertain, the outcome of the match is not certain; it would be very unwise to take it seriously or take it as a "job". Even experts in this field are still incurring losses and yet you would see someone say that they are going to take gambling as a source of income because they know much about sports and they believe that they can produce some decent result with their predictions; that person is simply just setting himself up for failure because, as I said in my previous post, there are so many variables involved in sports and even with your superiority in terms of experience, you still can't make up for those variables. You would still be at the mercy of luck no matter who you are.

Like I said, for someone who take this "job" serious, like full time, or even more hours than regular job, him can make that "bad luck" less possible to happen. That doesnt mean that he gonna win every game, but at least there will be good reason why he played it. Of course nobody can predict some own goals and goals in last second after some stupid mistakes, but still I believe that on LONG RUN, that "job" can make some good profit.
But also, its very very very stressful. Sometimes so stressful thats not worth of any money.

The biggest mistake I've ever made in gambling was starting to gamble in the first place, haha..

As for what actually matters, research and selectivity are everything. Success isn't about luck, it's about getting all the available information, studying every variable and specializing in leagues you actually know inside and out.

The key is strictly betting on high confidence spots rather than forcing action. Quality over quantity always wins out over the long run, because chasing volume or trying to manufacture bets when nothing good is on the board is the fastest way to bleed a bankroll.

Regardless of your gambling goals the most important thing in gambling in my opinion is still risk management, I understand that there are always some more effective ways to predict the outcome of the game so that the chances of winning are higher but that does not mean the risk will disappear completely, no matter how well you analyze the game the results are still uncertain before you get to the end of the game, the reason is because there are many unexpected things that can turn things around at the last minute.

Emotion. Having knowledge to predict matches is good but sometimes what matters if the person will believe in himself. For example, I know a guy who is very good in analysing and predicting matches but at the time of staking, he gets influenced
 by friends to bet a different game and after the release of the results, he would start to regret for not believing in his own game.. So there is a role of emotional maturity.

Mine is to add same game and option in different gambling slip and when the game failed in one bet slip, it affected all other slip. It was the last game remaining and that made it so disappointing. So I learnt the lesson of not adding same game and option in different bet slip.

This is not true. If you are familiar with gambling, then I would assume that you would have come across this phrase: "the house always wins in the long run"? This shows that the casino is guaranteed to profit over time according to the rules of probability, so there is a chance that you would have a nicce experience at the start, but with time you would start to lose your initiative, and then you won't even be able to tell if you have lost a huge amount or not.

In gambling, it’s very important to be able to restrain yourself, and I remember that when I was studying at university, I was well aware of my own weaknesses. Specifically, the principle you described - that gambling can quickly draw in people who are susceptible to influence. I’m talking about when you want to get your money back. And that’s why, even when I was very tired, I often wouldn’t allow myself even half an hour of playing slots, knowing that it would stir up feelings in me and I’d have to get my money back again, which would most likely mean spending half the night on it.

We gamblers often fancy ourselve as expert or master analyst. We tend to think that memorizing team formation, past record or player statisticsis the key to predicting game! But harsh as it may be the truth is that in the grand scheme of gambling, prediction is mostly an illusion of control. You might spend five hour analyzing a match before placing bet on any team. The biggest mistake in gambling is not being able to understand the right time to stop. Gamblers cannot maintain this issue of when to stop gambling. Once you start gambling, it cannot be stopped easily due to greed and emotion, although a gambler is in a lot of profit at that time. The thing is that when you win in gambling, it seems like easy money, and when you lose, you try to recover it. To win from gambling, you must know about the game you are betting on and have a good idea. It is not only dependent on luck. If someone does not know about the game, how will he bet and how will he understand that if he bets in any way, he will win big. If we are talking about casino games, then the answer is obvious: the most important think is luck. In sport betting there is also a luck factor, however, bettors can get some leverage against other bettors thanks to their own research and analisys.

My biggest mistake while gambling was getting over-confident while planning dices on Stake once, I staked more money than I should have, and I ended up losing it. I immediately logged out and called it a day.

Yes, but those same two people will face the same fate after some weeks or months gambling: losses superior to the profit made during the entire gambling journey. Agree, knowing when to stop is crucial. Now we have tools like deposit limits and loss limits, but then we also have the option to simply play the same game at another casino, so those exclusions and limits don't really help you. It's the person gambling who needs to make sure they are not gambling too much and stop after winning or worst case, stop after losing the initial amount and don't deposit more in rage.

You are right, the outcome of a game can be different from what someone analysed or predicted. Something like this happened to me yesterday, where I placed a bet on Ajax to win Rotterdam with a 2up option in Eredivisie league , I spent time to analyse that game by checking through their h2h, current form yet the game ended in a draw. The fate of your win depends on what those players performance,not on what your mind or heart tells you. It was kind of annoying though, but I am happy that I didn't bet with a big amount or an important money.  In gambling risk management is very crucial, because without it , a gambler will lose control of themselves. I see gambling as one of the simples game so far because it is clearly stated that every gambler/ persons should gamble with what they can afford to lose, but we find out that most gamblers gamble with money they cannot afford to lose which is a very big problem to most gamblers and they start chasing their loss all in the bit of trying to recover their money but they lose more which later makes them go as far as borrowing money leaving them bankrupt and cashless .

Gambling must be done with caution and self-control so that you don't end up losing control of yourself that will affect your life, there is more in gambling than to knowing more of prediction because one cannot successfully always predict game  just gamble with what you can afford to lose and forget, about it even if wins does not come.
