Fake coin on our wallet how do you handle that?

Is been a while i used Trustwallet but I tried to go through my wallet by scanning through the explorer to know what coin I have on my wallet as most of them are not displaying, when I check it happened that there are some shitcoin or fake coin that got into my wallet through transaction or swap back then, and I have been wondering how this where possible for them to send it and how were they able to have my address to send me such fake coin. On trustwallet app, most of them I see it as NFT on the wallet but I have been thinking what could be the best way to get rid of those shitcoin on my address.

Any alternative to stop this coming to my address if a transaction occurs on my wallet? Thus because of this I stopped using Trustapp since it is said to be close source wallet.

This is not only on Trust Wallet, in my Ton address which exists in Ton keeper I see a lot of these. I don't know if it's more with the Ton blockchain. Most of them have links to phishing sites where you can attempt to claim the fake coins and loose your real coins in the process.

Addresses that have recorded a transaction on a public blockchain are public and they can map addresses with a balance on a blockchain and attempt to scam some holders by sending those fake coins and NFTs to lure them to take action, it's best you don't even click what you didn't intentionally acquire.

You have been in the forum for a very long time so I am sure you would have found threads on address poisoning and this is perfectly similar to that. You cannot stop the attackers to stop sending anything to that address, you cannot also hide your address because it’s public.

What you can actually do just like address poisoning attack is to totally ignore the coins or NFTs on the address as they wouldn’t do anything. What the attacker wants is to trick you into copying the sending address or you looking for where to swap the coin on certain url on the coin details and this might lead to interacting with malicious contracts.

If the attack persists what you can do is to actually send out you real coins from that address to another address.

You do not need to bother about the coins, what the scammers want to do is for you to copy their own address that they used to send the coins to you, so that you can send coins there by mistake. It worked for them as some people fell for it, thinking it is their exchange address or another of their wallet address. They mistakenly send coins to scammers like that.

It may be based on the network,  there are some scam coins and fake pump and dump coins built on a particular Network so it is possible some people sent your that coin using and address you have shared before or used and the coin is of similar network.
It's good for you that you left the wallet dormant because the reason you were sent those coin may be to extort you off something.

I do have wallet, trust wallet, unstoppable wallet that I haven't checked in a long while, I will not worry if u go back there and see something in it that I cant account for.

I have not experience this before because I do not involved myself much with altcoin except trading from exchange but withdrawing to a normal wallet is what I have not done. I am also believing that for bitcoin Electrum wallet is also the best because as i have heard many people do not like using trustwallet app since they often refer it to a close source wallet.
From what i am sensing here they could use that to scam you if you are not that careful with them as just the previous poster has already said about them.

I also experienced this, there were a lot of fake tokens and fake transactions as if they were sending from my wallet to them, usually the wallets that are attacked are wallets that are actively carrying out transactions, not just trust wallets, but almost all wallets, because I use various wallets, it seems impossible to prevent this, but to keep our wallet safe, never make any transactions with fake tokens and their fake transactions.

Your address is public and can not be bidden from the blockchain as long as you have used it to carry out a transaction on Binance, Ethereum and Solana network, etc. Once you have used your address to intentionally receive a token or coin from any network, the scammers will track your address and they will send some fake coins to your address, in some cases that I have seen, some of the fake coins the scammer will send to your address can be showing a big value in dollar and when you want to swap that fake token by connecting your address to the fake DEx they will direct you to, that's when they will gain access to your wallet and take every valuable tokens you have in that address. You can not prevent the scammers from sending fake tokens to your address but you can protect yourself by not paying attention to any token you see in your address that you don't know how come it was there.

While the fault can be said to be on Trust wallet for allowing those fake or low value coins appearing on our dashboard without our permission, it isn't still their fault because our address already have the tokens that's why they'll keep showing up on our wallets. Some apps have the options of not showing low value coins or disabling the display functions for those coins untill you enable them yourself, you can make use of that or just ignore them. Most projects airdrop small amounts of coins to active addresses as a marketing technique because you'll get to look up the projects when you see them on your address while the other agenda behind those airdrops could be as a scam attempt because some of them are duplicates of already existing projects and you might get misled to buy the wrong project so again, ignoring them could just be the best solution.

You don't need to be scared because, even though your public wallet address get deposited with dust token, what that means is that your address have been taken from the public blockchain and token send or NFTS sent without your consent or even the trust wallet can't stop such spam transactions.


There is a target of address poisoning and others, just be careful and avoid connecting your wallet to random smart contracts or Dapp.

Totally neglecting them, like they don't exist in my wallet. I have some fake coins in my wallet that have been in my wallet for years; I haven't once thought that I have such coins existing in my wallet.

However, I then think, is when you think of the fake coins each time, that's when it becomes a concern to you, which is not good for someone who knows the coins received are fake coins

I think what you are experiencing is really a normal thing, which is been called the dusting attack anynow even me can just wake up someday to send you any token to your address, which they don't need your permission to even send one thing you should be aware of is that your wallet address is already  public in the blockchain systems, which i gusse onec anyone have done transactions before the attacker can see it and wish to send you fack tokens to test if you are a greedy type..

From what I have notice you cannot stop them from sending well I have never heard someone blocked or stop incoming transactions on a decentralized walletwell the best way to ignore them you not try  to swap or sell them because it look so interesting by comes with alot of higher risk to your wallet,in fact I have been in a position where those tokens will even try to make you approve a malicious contract and then they will drain your wallet...and lastly on trust wallet you can just go to settings and hide those tokens or you can just easily revoke any approval you don't no...

I don't think there's a way to avoid them since our addresses are publicly viewable on any explorer if you make any transactions.

I do have them on Ethereum, Sol, and BNB wallets. I just ignore them because those are traps. If you are going to get rid of them or swap them, you might end up compromising your wallet. So just don't touch any of them; scammers can't do anything if you ignore them.

I also have some of those scam coins in my wallet, but I don’t have any problem with the coin being in my wallet, since I already know they are scam coins, I just ignore them in my wallet, and do whatever I want to do. I don’t really know if there is any way which those coins can be stopped from entering our wallet.

When you try to swap some of those coins, they going to charge you for transactions fee, and you won’t be able to to successfully swap the coin, the transaction fee which they removing belongs to the owner of the coin, some of them will have access to your wallet immediately you try to swap the coin. It’s dangerous trying to swap it, don’t think you have free money, just ignore the coin, or get a random wallet and send everything to the wallet, but I don’t recommend that.

As long as you made a transaction or still transact with the address you are always going to get attacked but you have have it mind that those are very useless pieces of shitcoins and can not amount to anything ever since it have been sent likely they will be there forever so you have the responsibility not to pay attention to what you didn't put into the wallet or what you are not expecting that is the only way to be safe from poisoning attacks
