The problem a lot of people have is that they don't do any research before putting their money into a particular thing, they just assume that it is legit and as a result of that they end up getting defrauded. Hahaha… this is absolutely crazy, like they literally had to hand over their money to the scammers of their own free will without duress. So long as there’s greed and the desire to make it big and fast in people, Scammers will always succeed.

This just reminded me of one Facebook scam that existed one time where they’ll ask you to give them details of your Facebook to help you set it up with their investment schemes that you’ll be earning from after you invest a certain amount.. my roommate then fell victim to this.

The trick was quite clever so anyone could have fallen for it but then, they should have research about the sites to be sure instead of assuming that they are real,assumption has put people in a dire condition that they will not forget yet,if you use a different trick to lure them, they will still fall for it. This is bad and same time smart . This is first time I’m seeing something like this , the more we learn about security and privacy. This is a new tactic and thanks for sharing. I'm aware scammers sell trading bots, laced with malware that can steal crypto. I never knew they had taken it a step further by deceiving people into thinking they could create their own trading bot and thereby running malicious code that could drain their acounts. People's inability to question the authenticity of certainty things makes them vulnerable to even little scam attempts. Who goes around sharing a trading bot for little or no cost if it's actually efficient or reliable?. Last time I checked, the world hasn't become so generous that people would willingly give away something that could consistently make them money... People with such discovery would probably prefer to keep something like that to themselves.

If not why will people quickly jump on everything they saw on YouTube channels without making proper findings themselves to confirm if really they are legit or has clear intentions, or try to even use their common sense to access it properly before venturing in it.

YouTube has been a great tool for learning, lots of people has learnt so much from YouTube, that when they apply it in real time it worked for them. This scam was professionally done and I won’t blame those that copied the code to develop their own trading bot, because this is the first time something like this is coming up. Trading bot has been popular over the years, people have been using them without complaints, I guess that’s why people went for this not knowing that scammers has ventured into using trading bots to defraud people. Now that the scam method has been exposed, I believe people will learn from it, henceforth traders will be careful of bots they will interact with.

I agree with your main point, this incident is a good example of the fact that not all frauds require phishing links or fake websites. There are many new users who follow any trading board or investment tutorial on social media without verifying it, and fraudsters take advantage of their greed and carelessness. Especially if someone copies and runs unknown codes, allows unknown contracts, or discloses important information about their wallet to others, then there can be great losses in addition to phishing.
For example, if a bot shows a strategy for making a lot of profit and asks the user to send a certain amount of crypto assets from their wallet or give suspicious permissions, then the most warning sign here is to understand it yourself. It is not right to assume that any quote or tutorial is safe just because it has been created. It is also your responsibility to understand what the quote is doing and to which address the assets are going. The free part self can make the scam more convincing this because a lot we see it as an opportunity to learn out something without even risking  enough money. The problem is that Price of the bot might not be the real cost, but what will happen if you you connect their wallet to it or runs an unknown code.
This why we should look beyond if this expensive or free abd ask what access will it give me in return. A free that gives you access or control to your funds can still turn out very costly.

Another reason why we need to do proper research on anything we want to do online that requires the help of a stranger who claims to know more than we know in that area. Doing our research apart from what they tell us is important so that we will know where there is vulnerabilities from our side to avoid getting scammed.
