Bitcoin's market price can fall dramatically, even while inflation is high. Research and financial institutions have noted that Bitcoin's relationship with inflation is not strong enough to call it a reliable inflation hedge.

It seems you forgot to check today's price; it is indeed high. A correction might occur in the future, and inflation could accelerate it, but it won't be the only factor.

Bitcoin only provides a choice, an option for everyone but people are freely to take it or ignore it. My answer is simple: Bitcoin is unable to protect everyone from inflation. Some intelligent people can use Bitcoin to avoid effects of inflation but not all people will do that, but it's their responsibility, not Bitcoin's. If you want to learn about Bitcion and inflation, deflation, read these topics and article. From your perception, you're right, But...Since the price of Bitcoin is not stable, it can't be say that bitcoin will protect people from inflation...The price of Bitcoin changes, it appreciate unexpectedly and it also decreases unexpectedly..so bitcoin can't be say it’s a completely inflation proof...

I don't understand the point you are trying to make in this thread, regardless of whether there is a strong relation between BTC & inflation, I disagree with your view that BTC cannot serve as a good hedge against inflation itself. The total supply of BTC is set at 21,000,000 & will never exceed that amount. Shouldn't that one factor alone make BTC a good hedging tool?

The benefits in Bitcoin network is not only about when we see it as an alternative to inflation and the system of the government using Fiat, but being able to completely experience decentralization that gives us the maximum profitability in using Bitcoin, bitcoin price cannot be manipulated the same way inflation on Fiat does, we stand to make more profit over the time holding our bitcoin than the opposite experience with the centralized currency.

Let me try to explain it this way; The bitcoin inflation hedge idea came from the ideology of 1BTC = 1BTC. Today, 1 BTC is worth about $85,000, by December it might worth more or less and remember the worth we are talking about is in relation to it's value in fiat. If BTC is all spendable and independent in its sats unit, you would appreciate that bitcoin is a hedge against inflation. See this instance... If I can buy a Toyota Tundra for $85k today, by 2040, it will definitely cost more due to inflation. But by 2040, BTC will definitely worth far more than $85k and bitcoin value then can comfortably buy Toyota Tundra even amidst the inflation. So, someone who saved $85k in fiat, withdraws it by 2040 will no longer be able to buy the Tundra while someone whose assets is in bitcoin will buy the Tundra and still have some leftover funds.

If you look at a short period of time, the price of Bitcoin may not have outperformed inflation, but over the long term it has done so by a wide margin—even though returns are declining. It’s also very volatile. Gold has traditionally been considered the classic hedge against inflation because it serves as a safe haven during crises and isn’t usually very volatile, although its volatility has increased over the past couple of years.

It's a matter of investment timing, because you can't just protect yourself from inflation if you invest in Bitcoin today, but if you did it a few months ago when the price of BTC was below $60k, the difference is more than $25k. In other words, your money invested in Bitcoin today would be worth even 40% more than a few months ago, and that would mean that you have already managed to beat inflation, unless you live in a country where prices skyrocket overnight. Can you imagine what it's like for those people who invested in BTC 10 years ago and still have most of their coins? For about $400 you could buy 1 BTC

Op is looking at it from different angle and he has a point. I think he's talking from the perspective of someone that hold for short term. Bitcoin can not save you from inflation if it price crashes the moment you want to sell and inflation is high at time too. But looking at it from long term perspective, it makes an hedge against inflation since the total supply remains fixed. Government can print fiat to cover their debt, it has no total supply like bitcoin. So basically, even if Bitcoin can not hedge against price inflation, it can hedge against monetary inflation in the long term.

I haven't forgotten bros, I assumed bros @OP already understood economic concepts, given that he was talking about research. I also think that since he is a newbie in the crypto sector, he doesn't yet fully grasp why BTC can serve as a good hedge against FIAT inflation. Given the responses we have all provided in this thread, I feel that he will understand soon.

That is merely a general concept of inflation; not everything with a limited supply necessarily serves as a hedge. Some view Bitcoin as akin to gold because it, too, has a production cost that acts as a price floor. However, market cycles have consistently shown that Bitcoin’s price defies this, as the cumulative effect of global market psychology exerts greater pressure, leading to increased volatility. Ultimately, Bitcoin need not be measured against anything else; the only imperative is ensuring the absence of technical flaws within its network.

Against immediate inflation bitcoin might as well be useless, but say I have the money and I want to save it for say maybe 10 years, you and I know that inflation will decimate the value of that money before then but if you put it in bitcoin, after 10 years, even accounting for inflation you will be ending up with more than you put in, if you doubt it you can look at the growth of bitcoin the past 10 years and see what difference it would have made if you had bought bitcoin then, even with inflation.

Is it sarcasm or something ? The price of bitcoin just literally shot up today to $86k. Seems like you haven't looked at the price today. Anyway, I personally think that bitcoin is the best asset out of all to hedge against the inflation. Not only it saves us from the inflation but also gives us good profits when compared to other assets.

Bitcoin has bull market, bear market, ups and downs, skyrockets and corrections or crashes but if people forget about such short term movements and focus on long term growth of Bitcoin price, they will realize a strong bullish chart that is enough. Because it means in long term, Bitcoin beats inflation of fiat currency and be a very good investment asset, a store of value to protect people wealth and even can make people richer. The ROI table for Bitcoin and some traditional assets shows Bitcoin strong and dominating ROI. http://casebitcoin.com/

Bitcoin isn't a hedge to inflation in a short period of time due to the price volatility but in the long run that's when you will see that Bitcoin is a hedge to inflation. Let's take a look at this little example. In 2020, $100 worth of bitcoin is 0.0138btc at $7200 but currently, 0.013btc is $1176 at $85k. You can see why bitcoin is a hedge of inflation in the long term. You could buy a Nike Snickers of $100 in 2020 but now, the same Nike Snickers cost $230 in 2026 due to high level of inflation in my country. This shows that if you have bought $100 worth of bitcoin in 2020, your $100 worth of bitcoin can now buy you five pairs of that same Nike Snickers down here in my country.

Not only it saves us from the inflation but also gives us good profits when compared to other assets. Sincerely, you are right bitcoin is the best and suitable assets that go against this inflation and saves it holders even if the inflation rate is high because it doesn’t just lose value drastically over time just like fiat. Bitcoin has limited supply and only 21 million can exit and none is getting created beyond that supply limit. Probably he hasn’t glance through the price of bitcoin today because if he had then he would noticed that we are in bullish movement right now because the price rise a lot today. Bitcoin has been of a positive help to us against this inflation because if we solely think of relying on fiat, then we will just keep complaining anytime the inflation goes higher.

Bitcoin can fall and so are other investments you can think. Many investments that the government trusted has fall off and you know the worse part of this investment, they are worse, when they dump, they don't have second chance, they can remain there for years without any growth. Bitcoin on the other hand can be trading high this month and the next month, it will be low and the month that comes after, it will be higher price. Don't worry, Bitcoin is the best investment you need to fight inflation very well.

You are probably wondering how Bitcoin will protect against inflation in a situation where the price of Bitcoin goes up and down a lot. The point here is that when there is inflation, the purchasing power of money decreases and it does not normally recover. But in the case of Bitcoin, no matter how low the price of Bitcoin goes, it recovers and can give you several times the profit of your investment in a normal 4-year cycle. Bitcoin is not stable like Fiat money, it is volatile, so there is risk in it, so you have to take that risk and buy Bitcoin, but if you think long-term, then there is no risk here. You cannot buy what you can buy now with 1000 of Fiat in your country in the next 5 years, but if you invest that money in Bitcoin now, then after the next 5 years your money may be 2000-4000 or more and even if the price of that product increases then you can buy that product with this money and your remaining money will also save

There are only some few persons that can successfully use bitcoin to hedge against inflation. Someone that is looking for something quick will say the "hedge against inflation" benefit is a lie. Those that can achieve this with bitcoin are those who are patient. Those who saved bitcoins 5 years ago when bitcoin was trading at around 40k have successfully defeated inflation if they still have their bitcoin savings in their wallet still untouched. Bitcoin is 86k now which is still at a good price despite volatility. Trust me, someone who saved same amount in fiat 5 years ago will be left with money that has reduced in value and purchasing power greatly. The hedge against inflation benefit is for those that can hodl for a long time. It is real if you do it right.
