Lately I’ve been thinking about how much easier some parts of everyday life have become. A lot of things that used to take time and effort or just waiting can now be done almost immediately. We can get information in seconds, communicate with someone immediately, order things without even leaving our homes and find answers to problems without even spending much time cracking our brains and figuring out ourselves.
Honestly there is nothing wrong with that, if somethings can be made easier, why make it harder but then I wonder if there’s a downside to getting used to everything being so convenient. Do we become less patient when things don’t happen quickly?
For example, someone might give up on something simply because it’s taking longer than expected even though a little patience could have made the difference. We can also get irritated when someone doesn’t reply quickly to our text because we are so used to instant response. Even when learning something, having an answer available immediately can make it tempting to look for answers instead of sitting down and trying to figure it out ourselves.
I’m not saying we should do everything the hard way because obviously convenience saves us time and makes life easier. I’m just wondering that if constantly choosing the easiest and fastest option is slowly reducing our tolerance for things that naturally require time and effort.
Unfortunately, that is the harsh truth. Yes, convenience of instant delivery has made our lives easier but at the same time it has also made our behavior worse.
As you have already mentioned, people these days do not have the patience to wait for getting their things done quickly.
Even if there is a slight delay they get nuts and act up all cranky and frown upon the delivery person. Even I feel sometimes why am I getting so impatient for this delivery and so I try to force myself to wait for it.
This shows that convenience has actually made our life worse.
