Primary duties of every government

Go to My library in your country or go online and find out the duties of your government to you, the government are elected to serve you and they owe you some constitutional duties and those duties are not to be kept secretly.
I think provision of social amenities is a primary duty compared to provision of opportunities.

The reason why government deviate from their primary duties is incompetency, corruption.

Haven know all these things by citizens, yet, they sit quiet and suffer from there incompetence and corrupt mindedness of our leaders.

Here is the bigger question... Why are citizens seating quiet and doing nothing even when they know that there leaders are corrupt and is not doing anything in ensuring that there basic tights are met? Why are they not campaigning against the bad government? Why aren't they clamouring for impeachment? Why have they not matched to there presidential villa and give the government an ultimatum to make things right or leave office?

There are few major concerns that should always be addressed from citizens that there governmental bodies are not leaving up to expectations. Well, maybe, they are afraid of there lives or they don't just want troubles.

From our country's perspective, the main job of the government is to loot the country's resources. Our current government is a living proof of this. Since the current government came to power, the prices of all essential commodities in our country have increased many times. But before they came to power, they promised to make the country free from corruption. But instead of doing so, they are now busy lining their own pockets. Few days ago, a bridge was built in our country and that bridge was built with bamboo instead of rebar. So you understand how responsible the government is in our country. Theft and robbery are a daily occurrence. I think this is not only in our country, but it exists in almost all third world countries.

People have a lot of anger buried in their behavior according to the government's policies right now. Their frustration is justified because when they're facing rising inflation, mainly fuel prices, and have weaker laws and politics, they decide to lead a protest against the government. Corruption is an issue in most countries, but its level varies from country to country which country with a lower rate of corruption, they have more progress, and vice versa.

Your example of Bamboo's bridge really fits in with the poor management and enforcement of the government. So, if we approve the budget for a bridge based on the latest technology but in reality, we build a bamboo bridge, then we put thousands of lives at risk, that's the same thing our leaders do. They get the budget for any project and give a minor part to the contractor and the rest of the money goes to their black accounts and in case of any accident, contractors are held accountable for the inquiries, but the actual criminals are not identified. These are an examples of poor and mismanagement.

What would you have the people do when they have being made to not complain when they're being suppressed and deprived of their privileges as citizens of a country. The government/politicians has cornered all the institutions that should have advocated as strong voice for the common people, they have the law enforcement agencies, the judiciary now serves their interests and have made peaceful protests a crime. Any voice that dares to speak is gagged and you could even disappear with no traces and nobody asks what happens because it won't even be heard.
I think people have grown tired of everything and just have chosen to live their daily lives in peace because nothing really works for a change to happen as expected.

this is true, but we must never forget to have hope in the future and try to do well in order to recover, this pessimism has never done anyone any good and if everyone thinks well in the end something good will come out, regarding corruption i don't feel like saying that Italy is less than other countries, if it wasn't there we would most likely have an advantage over the others.

The primary objective of a government is to work for the welfare and betterment of the public however instead of addressing the people issues the government appears to be prioritizing competition with others seemingly unconcerned about whether or not the public is receiving essential amenities.The public is not to blame for this situation yet they face immense hardship due to the lack of quality education adequate healthcare facilities and proper roads.Even more critical than these issues is the problem of inflation compounded by rising petrol prices which has left citizens wondering how they will manage to live the rest of their livesespecially given that there appear to be no prospects of the government curbing inflation.The government ought to focus on the country needs rather than abandoning the people to their plight.

When i was student i used to read in my books about the role of the government. There long list of government responsibilities were published and i thought same as you, that how much our government work for the public welfare. But now i realize that it was just bookish knowledge, actually government doen not  not functioning like we think.

Corruption is the major issue that seems to difficult to handle. Almost major part of the budget they divide among their partners or remaining they invest for the public welfare. In this situation not all people get equal rights or opportunities. The saddest thing is that public who always pay taxes but they have to suffer even for the basic requirements . For me government is successful only when an ordinary man get all their basic rights.

Government is suppose to care about the well-being of the citizens, but in countries that have corrupt leaders, their leaders only care about the well-being of themselves, and they don’t even care about how the citizens are leaving. They only care about themselves, they want to enrich themselves, they use money which is suppose to be used for public service for  their own personal use, which is the reason why people from countries like that are always struggling to survive.

That is absolutely correct we can keep telling the truth about the bad actions of corrupt leaders in government today. They are always protecting their seats from being attacked by the opposition, supposedly government should make life easy for their citizens, but they have abandoned some of their primary responsibilities to the citizens. In some nations a huge minimum wage did not solve anything because high inflation still increases the poverty rate in the country. Even if you are a salary earner the high prices of some basic needs will consume it. In my country we are one of the biggest crude oil producers in the world, but fuel prices keep increasing and it's not only fuel the government does nothing about price control for but many basic things in the country.

Your point is valid one of the biggest still remains accountability, let look at this from that angle not only corruption it self, but the lack of proper oversight or transparency from the government is a big problem like we don’t have rights to know what going on up there, and a bigger concern when you collect funds and make all kinds of sweet promises without funding the projects you promised to do, when public funds are misused or mismanaged we all have that same right to ask how the money was used….

The part where I get so annoyed is that when all are clearly seeing how funds are been allocated to different projects like roads and new hospitals, schools, other infrastructure which are not full filled it then creates so many reasons to suspicion and abuses from the public…

If am to change anything about governments,  the lack of accountability and transparency is the first thing I will look at, how will the government of a country operate without openness to the people they are representing. Leaders go about doing everything as it pleases them without letting the citizens know how public funds are spent and can't even be held accountable if things goes wrong.
Its indeed a bad practice and needs to be changed as public funds won't be misused as they have been doing that is if we wish to have a nation with good qualities
