Friend, I think we all got it wrong, in crypto space it pays to become a scammer than trying so hard to be an investor and still fail, gullible people are everywhere they will fall for one or two scams easily, he said.

I believe this is coming from his side of frustration, he lost his long time holding in February 2026, I guess he hasn't gotten over it yet obviously, mind you I talked him out of scamming others like a revenge thing.

After he went back home I thought about it very well, scammers are really making a killing in this space, and they are doing it for free, getting away with it, but hurting a human like myself is what I can't do, imagine stealing 10 BTC that belongs to a father who have saving it for years, planning to leave it behind for his family if possible.

Do you have better advice? Genuinely? For my friend.

I understand how painful it can be losing your coins or money to scammer. We have once had the issue of losing too from scammers one way or the other depending on the amount though but we didn't resolve to start getting back to people by taking away from them what belongs to them in revenge. So my advise to your friend is to start investing again, there is always a place of lesson in our life. Time heals and he will be better soon. He now has a better view of what the internet can be and next time he could avoid the mistakes he made either through his wallet securities etc.

I recommend that friends who are just starting out be extra vigilant about wallet security. Cybercrime will never end, and the number of victims continues to rise.
People often put off addressing wallet security and storage. Being careless in public can create an opening for criminals to carry out their schemes.

It’s quite a pitiable and painful experience having being in crypto space and invested for years only to lose your investment to scammers. Although you didn’t state the manner in which your friend got scammed of his crypto investment of over many years of experience i believe he should’ve learnt something in this past years to allow such thing to happen to him by scammers. If he has been investing for years without allowing greed to come into his investment then I see no reason why anyone can scam such an experienced investor. I’m not saying that’s the reason why he was scammed but most of the times, investors who got scammed are always as a result of greed. They fell for the get more richer quickly scheme. My advice is to stay away from whatever promises you that you’ll put a thousand bucks today and get a million dollars tomorrow.

Even it's not with crypto, never think of doing harm to any people. Karma will return to him even badly that's more than what he's scammed if ever he pushes that plan.

Real life is hard, life in jail is harder so let him choose what kind of hard he's willing to take the risk for.

The pain that victims feel might retaliate not to him but to the people that's dear to him which is more painful.

No need to think of it as many times as you can be because the choice is very clear of not doing it.

Some people would have actually committed suicide but that is not really a nice thing to do, if you are alive and healthy you can make back your money instead of the suicide. That's it, 99 days for the thief and 1 day is definitely going to be for the owner. It is wrong to retaliate, infact he could get in to trouble even before the person that hurt him, he should be good and not allow what happened to him change who he really is, I just hope that he get to learn certain lessons over what happened even though no one is perfect or can't be scammed.

I don’t think OP meant his friend lost 10 btc. He was only using that as an example to show just how much scammers steal and the damage it causes to the victims.
My advice to you OP and your friend is to keep working hard. Not to sound preachy, but a honest work is better than riches acquired from criminal activities. It’s possible that you might have that conversation again with your friend, encourage him to explore legitimate opportunities. It doesn’t have to be crypto, if possible, he may even have to leave crypto trading for a while until his head is clear.

Scammers offer too good terms, someone offering you a return on investment like 100 & per year it is too good to be true.

Stealing from people is not a honorable thing to do, so you friend should drop that idea of wanting to become a scammer, it's better he earns his money in a legitimate way than make others suffer for what they don't know, if he wants to become a scammer, he will end up to scam innocent people and not from those that scammed him and even from those thieves that is scamming others, in that case he is no different from them. He just have to learn from what has happened and then encourage him self to start again with a better strategy to protect his capital and he will bounce back.

You should ask him first how he lost his long-time holding. If he lost it through malware, phishing or something similar, then maybe he should start educating himself on how to protect against that kind of scam so it will not happen again.

Not starting again right away, maybe take a break for a while, clear the mind first and then start investing again when everything already feels lighter.

Because if you invest while carrying a heavy feeling from the previous loss, you probably won't think clearly. With a clear mind, you are more likely to make better decisions and avoid repeating the same mistake. But going back to my question, I think first we need to understand how he actually lost his investment.

Just because scamming works for others doesn't mean that it is going to work for him, who knows, in his attempt to try he might even get arrested, it's not worth wasting his life over and besides scamming is something that puts you in a State of mind where you cannot have peace. Something similar happened to a friend of mine in 2014, he didn't lose much money though but his intentions back then was to get into scamming so he can also do to others what was done to him, which is a childish mentality to have.

Your friend just needs to take a break from whatever isn't working and focus on other things that are legal, scamming doesn't add structure to anyone's life, you are only building yourself up for failure and just because it doesn't happen immediately doesn't mean that it's not going to happen in the future.

This shows that your friend does not have any idea about cryptocurrency and that is where he has been on the same spot all this while, you need to let him understand that learning is inevitable if you want to be productive in crypto, what you don't know, others will take advantage of you from it, even outside the crypto context, there are scammers everywhere except you are well informed on what to do and how to secure yourself from them, anything you know is an adult advantage to you and will serve as a protection against any threat to scam you if they attended to do so.

Better advice? For some people, it would be much better if they had never heard of cryptocurrencies, considering that they first invested without even trying to understand what exactly they do. My advice is that there's no point in crying over spilt milk and that you should learn the best lesson from your mistakes.

Even better advice for everyone, when it comes to money and investments, keep it to yourself and don't involve your friends in it.

A person can think of bad things when they are frustrated and stressed. Tell your friend to first calm down and try to think twice about his thoughts.

It's true that scamming is free and can somehow be profitable. But what about your conscience? Can you really get a good night's sleep after doing all those bad things? I think those questions should be asked to your friend once he calms down.
Then ask him the what-ifs. What if he is in that position where he will be scammed? There are ways to recover what we lost. But once we do evil things to our neighbor, it will be difficult to go back from it. It can consume us, and it might even be the reason to put ourselves in danger.

That is the kind of reality here in this space, scams are still high even though Bitcoin is already regulated in many places. So for someone holding that much Bitcoin, it's really negligence not to learn first how to properly secure that amount.

At the current price, that is already almost a million dollars. He might just start and become the scape goat at the end, so you gave him good advice and of course i do feel his frustration. To be prank alot of great person at some point in their life had conflicting thoughts and what makes them great is them not acting on the negative thoughts, so your friend following the advice you gave him can make choices.
For the scams, thats why security is a top topic that is taken very seriously especially in Cryto and with newbies and even the OGs, everyone is still advised to stay updated with information, always doing your own research and of course the protection of your passwords and seed phrase. If nobody has access to your wallet, they pretty much cant do anything to your funds

Why would it even be a choice unless you are an evil person? Scammers are just desperate people who don't have anything productive to do for society and just a scum to the earth. They are basically thieves.

That's not a good choice. There might be some kind of identity loss or something, and I think that's a more worrisome sign.

Well, if you're not a scammer, there's no point getting into it just because you feel that you've been scammed. Wether you're a pro in this space or just getting started, there are chance that you can get scammed if you're not careful enough. If it eventually happens,  it's still not enough reason why you should scam others.

Having the right knowledge is very neccesary and helps you to minimise getting involved in scam related cases. That you were once scammed doesn't mean that if you're careless that you're not going to get scammed again. Just the way he felt bad for being scammed is the way anyone he scams will also feel bad. You don't use wrong to correct another wrong.

Yeah, here is some advice: scamming is easy. Also, robbing houses is easy. But the reason why most people do not do it is because the punishment is not worth it. And eventually you will get caught, it is only a matter of time.

So maybe re-think whether ruining your life and credit for some quick cash which will disspate in time anyway because 99.9999% of scammer is not making millions. Maybe a few hundred there a few thousand here and at the end of the month you might even not make more than you would with a regular job which would take exactly as much time anyway...

That is my advice to your friend...
