Forum Members and Reputation Discussions
I am creating this thread to enlighten and also discuss with everyone how we can all maintain a good forum reputation and avoid issues related to this aspect. If you go to the reputation board and even visit Meta occasionally, you discover a lot that has been talked about regarding members' reputations and the forum, and we can all also remind ourselves of some important things to always keep in mind and avoid so as not to get into trouble now or in the future.
I am not perfect but working towards perfection, and this is why we all have to contribute our own ideas and suggest the necessary information or notable ideas that can help every member to have an itch-free experience on the use of this forum. I have a short list of what I would like to point out in order for every member to ensure they keep to all these and maintain a good member reputation.
- Be honest in what you say; avoid lying and don't post to impress anyone; do the right thing expected of you.
- Read the forum pinned thread on each board just to familiarize yourself with what is expected on each sections/boards.
- Don't post any malicious or unsolicited content, links, or any phishing content that may lead to scams or user vulnerability.
- Avoid reputation discussions when you also know that you are not exempt from something related to issues like that.
- Avoid being in a hurry to apply for any opportunity; many make mistakes by doing so, and it could be a costly one.
- Abstain from joining a discussion you don't know about the subject matter; doing so could easily tag you as a spammer.
- Align everything you are doing to the forum standards and its rules and regulations without going outside the context.
- Don't abuse the trust system, merits, or other shady acts that call for questionable behavior of yours.
- Avoid hate speech and don't always attack other members, even when their opinions are against your idea.
- Verify information before passing it, and don't be a source of fake news and other unreliable talk without reference.
- If you know you are not technically oriented, don't post on the board unless you have confidence in anything you are discussing.
- Always read campaign rules and regulations before applying to them and ensure you meet their requirements.
- Inquire from experienced members when unsure of having the right information or knowing the step to take before any further action.
Being reputed is not something hard to achieve; you only need direction to do the right thing and understand more better about the forum than just doing things in your own way that does not conform to the forum's standards.
