I was going through Telegram today and I thought about a tough reality in the crypto space which is sometimes even a single action that may seem harmless at the moment can turn into a devastating mistake in the next minute, days, or even after many years later. And one thing I have noticed that folks are often doing now is emphasizing on the word beginners, like they are the only ones who are prone to making mistakes. Yeah sure beginners do make mistakes because they fall short when it comes to knowledge, but still folks who have spent long in the space are no exception to making mistakes.One of Satoshi Nakamoto's advice back in 2010 was we should never delete our wallet or neglect safeguards, yet many crypto enthusiasts still fail to understand the weight of personal responsibility that comes with non custodial ownership... In both cases one lost over 7.5 BTC just by wiping his computer, and though he didn't say the full story, but it's obvious that the dude didn't save his seed phrase.because wiping your computer doesn't mean you can't log in back to your wallet with your seed phrase, so perhaps it's easy to say he had to learn the hard way just to understand why it's always wise to keep your seed phrase in a safe place but was the experience even necessary if he had just followed the rules it sure would have been different. basically it's wrong to open a wallet and tell yourself that later I will copy it ,procrastination mindset. Best to say the possibility of you ending up forgetting is very high......
That said the second person actually sent his BTC worth of $3.8 BILLION to an unknown address just because he didn't cross check the entire address if he actually even did am sure it was just the first 4 and last 4 digits. To me doing that is just a partial verification because even if those ones are correct, the possibilities of the middle ones not being accurate is high, so we should stop assuming that when the first 4 and last 4 are correct the address is correct too . Who knows he might have pasted the address and mistakenly just deleted one digit, or an error on his clipboard and without complete verification he sent to the wrong address.Believe it or not no one is prone to making mistakes in and out of this space,both falling for scams or buying a shit coin still there are some mistakes that are too costly..... In conclusion his last statement where nice but it just feels like a way of not getting depressed more like an encouraging statement,well I believe it's not about buying Bitcoin, it's about how disciplined, organized, and precise you are. That's the only way on can accumulate in the long run... that's all.....

I've been a victim of this .. not bitcoin but eth. Had a little of it but then lost the wallet and seedphrase and couldn't access it . Since then, I don't t joke with keeping my details safe. People don't know the importance of certain practice until they become victims. One thing I learnt about wallet address is that copy and paste is more reliable than any other methods.. wallets allow you to copy address directly so when you do just paste it so you don't have to start write it figure for figure.

I understand wetin you mean because an address wey one or more characters de miss no fit to send so I no go blame you if you de doubt di authenticity of di story, na only newbies de easily believe anything wey dem hear about cryptocurrency and wallet matter. But di lesson to learn be say Bitcoin transactions de irreversible, if you don send coins e don go be dat so e de very important to make sure say you de send your coins into di correct address. The most common mistakes in the past is that the person can send bitcoin to a wrong address, but it has to be a valid bitcoin address. Another one was about sending bitcoin to litecoin address that start with 3, which is recoverable if you have the address private key. And the last that I know is sending bitcoin to bitcoin cash address that start with 1. Litecoin and bitcoin cash developer changed the address to the one that will not be recognized as bitcoin address. Yes, it is good to check and recheck the bitcoin address because the transaction may be too late to be reversed.

I am sure there will be a mixed up somewhere in this story, because I beleived we have all used a wallet before and it's almost impossible for a transaction to go through when a single digit is missing in a wallet address or when the address is incorrect, an error message will certainly pop up. This story is not new, we keep seeing a different version of it, but to those that understand the message it is presenting, it mean the same thing we have been hearing about being careful in the industry in general, especially when doing transaction, but where this story got me confused is where the wallet was copied, because if the wallet was copied directly from the source, I don't see how one digit will be missing, atleast most of us here have idea of how things of this nature is been done, unless this story is reminding us that we need to cross chcek the receiving address when we are about to send funds, if so, it is a good reminder and worth keeping in our memory, because of how importan, helpful and favourable it will be, to us.

So there's  high possibility that the post itself is fake.

I checked his profile to confirm if it's the same Davinci who told everyone to buy some $5 worth of  bitcoin back in the days and lo the handle turned out to be his. He has been shilling shitcoins lately anyway, so he can also post made up sh#ts just to farm engagements.

Making a mistake once is enough to figure things that's why sometimes learning the hard way is the best way to learn. I'm sure if you hadn't lost some coins you probably would still be careless. Almost every one experience that, I also lost access to one of my wallets where I had some doge back then, I didn't know how useful the seed phrase was then, I wrote it down I misplaced it and that was how I lost my coins too.
Some people simply place more importance on their assets instead of where it's being kept that's why they end up losing access to their wallets. I think the wallet is as important as the coins in it. We just have to be more careful before any lost cryptocurrency is not possible to recover in most cases.

That's why i don't believe every story i come across on the media without verifying to know if it legit, lately many people cook up stories on X just to get paid by Elon and it's so crazy cause lots of people would believe without fact checking to know if it's legit. Well bullshit or not a message was passed so i expect people to take note of important things like being careful when caring out transactions and crosschecking address before sending, then disregard his lies.

Although what impressed me about his message is that after all, he still advised that people shouldn't fail to buy Bitcoin, he's right about that one cause those who don't own any now would regret when Bitcoin hit seven figures.
