When we say a society is corrupt, it's definitely the people that are corrupt, just like OP has mentioned society is not a living creature, so it can not commit crime, rather the people that make up the society are the once that are corrupt and as such has made the society a corrupt entity. I totally understand when people use the statement that a society is corrupt, it definitely means that the people that make up such society are corrupt. Society is an entity and can not be corrupt, but the people are the once that are corrupt.
