The people are corrupt, not the society.

When you look around the world and see injustice, crimes and unfairness, it is pretty much easy to say the society is broken or corrupt, but we often forget that the society isn't a living creature or even a monster, it doesn't force people to indulge in bad things. Therefore society is just a framework, society is like the game we play on our mobile devices, it has rules, spaces and goals designed to help people work and live together. We all know that the game itself cannot cheat, lie or steal. So when the game becomes unfair, it is not because the board is evil or corrupt, but it's because the players has chosen to break the game rules.

We must look at what the society actually is, before you can understand why the society itself isn't corrupt, society itself is made up of school, laws, Court and social customs. These systems was designed to bring orderliness, fairness and equality. For example a traffic stop sign does not favor one driver over another, we also have the court, it was designed to seek the truth and help us all fight for justice, it wasn't designed to favor one individual over another. These institutions are designed for our common good.

We have corruption today because some individuals have decided to manipulate this tools for their personal gains, if a student misses school, it doesn't mean the school has failed, but it's the student that failed to attend school, for example if a politician steals a public funds, it is the individual who has acted wrongly, the society or the country shouldn't be blamed. When enough people begin to cheat, the entire system begins to look broken from the outside. Yet the rot is not in the blueprint of the house, it is in the behavior of the occupant.

This distinction matters because resolving an issue requires you to know the true source of the problem, that would help you understand things much better, if we believe that the society itself is corrupt, our thoughts should be destroying the entire society and burn down the board game. Even Changing the rules from one to another will change nothing, as long as the players remain dishonest, you can't also abandon the society because of corruption, that isn't a solution. The solution is to hold individuals accountable of their choices and demand integrity from the people running the institutions.

Lastly, society is like a mirror that only reflects the character of its citizens, mirror cannot create a reflection if nothing is standing at the front of it and it doesn't create a stain, it only shows what stands in front of it. When we see corruption in today's world, we are not looking at a failure society itself, but a collective failure of individual choices. Society provides the field, but is it always up to people to know how they will play on it.
