One of the ways that Bitcoin can take a person from rich to poor is through panic selling, this is by far the most common reason why a lot of people end up losing in the long run. Looking at what actually triggers panic selling is lack of risk management and by that I mean investing an amount of money that is within your means or capacity to lose and not just that alone but also taking calculated risks. Because they are too scared to lose a certain amount of money during the dip they sell their coins out of fear which leads to losses. Bitcoin can only take you from poor to rich if only you can be consistent and patient, it takes a lot to achieve this but it's not impossible.

Bitcoin has created millionaires.

But Bitcoin has also destroyed fortunes.

Bitcoin is perhaps the only asset in modern history that allowed everyday people like students, developers, low income earners in developing countries to completely bypass traditional gatekeepers and build generational wealth from scratch.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/bishopjordan/2017/07/07/bitcoin-millionaire/?

How can the same asset help someone escape poverty while someone else loses a fortune?

The answer isn't simply Bitcoin's price.

It's what people do before, during and after their wealth changes.

The poor person who patiently accumulates may benefit from long term appreciation.
But the wealthy person who becomes overconfident, borrows against their holdings, uses leverage or refuses to take risk seriously can lose wealth just as quickly. This we see even in our everyday lives.

Building wealth and preserving wealth are two different games.

Bitcoin can change your financial position. But it cannot change your financial discipline for you.

I agree that building wealth and keeping it are two very different things. Bitcoin can give you the opportunity, but how you manage that opportunity is what makes the difference in the long run.

You are right that Bitcoin is the best investment vehicle for investors of all professions and income levels in modern times. Facing the usual obstacles in any other investment means that in most cases they have to take risks but they do not get the desired results. Bitcoin eliminates the usual obstacles and you can start from scratch and build a stack of Bitcoins through small accumulation strategies.

How can the same asset help someone escape poverty while someone else loses a fortune?
Different perspectives are responsible for this. At the same time, you will see some making huge profits and some making losses. Success in Bitcoin investment depends on how you use your funds. You will not get more profits if you have more leverage. Especially in Bitcoin investment, long-term strategies are the most effective and have the potential to become rich. Those who are in short term trading are in a financially risky situation and have the possibility of becoming poor.

The poor person who patiently accumulates may benefit from long term appreciation.
But the wealthy person who becomes overconfident, borrows against their holdings, uses leverage or refuses to take risk seriously can lose wealth just as quickly. This we see even in our everyday lives.

The tendency to be confident in investing and use leverage is not unique to the rich. A poor person may buy Bitcoin with all their available assets in the hope of making a high profit. The temptation to quickly create more wealth drives them to become even poorer.

Your main focus should be on using a long-term Bitcoin investment strategy. Regularly accumulating Bitcoin through discretionary income over a period of 4-10 years or longer as long as your income continues to grow.

I largely agree with what you’ve said; the point about panic selling is particularly important. However, I feel that while risk management, consistency, and patience are certainly essential, possessing them doesn't guarantee that Bitcoin will make someone rich. Market volatility is extremely high, and risks persist even in the long term. In my opinion, the best approach is to invest according to one's own financial capacity.

I observe that the advent of Bitcoin and crypto exchanges—which allow for the accumulation of Bitcoin and altcoins in small amounts—paved the way for financial companies to launch stock trading services that enable the purchase of fractional shares. As I recall, buying stocks used to involve rather complicated procedures. The easiest option was investing in mutual funds, but that meant handing over one's money for others to manage. While my knowledge at the time may have been limited, it seems to me that stock trading services allowing for small-scale share purchases proliferated during the Bitcoin boom around 2017 and again during the COVID-19 period (2019–2020).

I agree that by accumulating Bitcoin over at least one market cycle—or longer—someone with limited means has a significant opportunity to build wealth. This is especially relevant in the current era, where inflation is rising sharply across nations, even if official government figures claim it is only around 1–2 percent.

I wonder if it is even logical to assume that a significant wealth will be created by going through a market cycle. I know you may mention the past growth of Bitcoin. But looking at past performance is not a guarantee of future returns. Especially if there is a long-term decline after going through a market cycle, you will have to hold on for a long time. That is why I think it is important to be consistent and save money that you will not need for many years in the future. This will reduce the tendency to make rash decisions based on just one market cycle.

There will always be someone who panic-sells, and that is why I feel like we must know that investing in Bitcoin does not mean you are going to make quick money. That is why, when the price comes down, that is when people panic and then sell instead of being patient so that, when the price goes up, we should be able to sell. Still, the key thing now is that we have to be very patient because that is one of the best ways to manage your holdings.

And that is even preferable when the price dips, you can use the opportunity to buy more, but people don't really know how to make use of the dip, so these are things that you need to be prepared for when you start investing because that is the major problem. So if people actually knew that this is what they are supposed to do, then they should just learn, but the situation is not getting better.

That’s true bitcoin can make someone a millionaire, while some have empty wallets and think it's because of Bitcoin's behavior. However, that is not true. Bitcoin charts, core, and everything are the same for everyone. It is a person's own behavior that will either make him a millionaire or a beggar. The choice is yours. You can't follow your greed and stick to a plan, manage risk, follow discipline, and use low leverage that can protect your capital, and you will earn more. In the market, the first thing is not to earn, but rather it should be your priority to protect your money so that no one can earn from your mistakes.

Bitcoin was never created to make anybody rich, so investing in Bitcoin with that mindset will be the wrongest mindset anybody could make within either a long or short term. Because inasmuch as Bitcoin is considered to be a volatile decentralized digital currency, it's still the best asset and digital currency anybody can invest in and be sure of having great value for their investment after a long period of time. Hence, it's best that people should purchase Bitcoin not to become rich in the future, but rather to have great value and full control over their assets.
