If the thread has been answered to oblivion and you don't have anything new to share, do not say anything at all. Yep, that's right.
Again, you are getting things wrong. The forum doesnt work the way you want it to. While discussing,
we do not always have to share something new. If 100 people have already shared something similar that doesnt mean you cannot share the same thing. I feel like let me give my opinion in my style which might help atleast a single reader and hence I share my opinion.
Let me give you a scenario, as you guys are always busy in the Reputation and Meta boards (so an example from there will help you understand the situation). So basically when two people are fighting, many people may have already discussed whether A is correct or B is correct, so there are enough responses to that. But you still participate by taking a side or giving an opinion (even though this has already been done by 100 previous people). This is because the community needs to see what TryNinja's take on this is.
Just think and be honest, why would we need a megathread of over 10 pages where everyone gives their shallow, unoriginal, opinion on a subject? Forums are a place to discuss, learn, talk, have a living community. What's so good about 200 users posting the same recycled opinion they spent 3 minutes thinking about and moving to the next subject?
So Theymos and the mods arent looking into this? They have the option not to allow more than 5 pages(by locking it) in these types of boards but they are still allowing it. So I think you have a problem with this.
It came directly from theymos himself, to solve exactly the megathreads situation that
you guys feed into, so I guess the forum isn't about "discussing and sharing opinions/knowledge" anymore, if that's what you call your posts.
Okay thanks for directly mentioning that I always bump/take part in megathreads. But as far as I remember, I have hardly posted in any topic after 10 pages. Thanks for your opinion.
And no one is forcing him to participate in an oversaturated thread (maybe only his weekly quota), so it's definitely his fault.
For your information, campaigns have hired me because I participate in those sections of the forum. I have not explicitly started posting in those sections of the forum because I am in a campaign. And what about the time period when I was not part of any campaign? Which quota was I fulfilling then?

Have I mentioned that I dont look at the dates? I do check the dates and even if you look at the post quoted by TryNinja, the OP date and my post date have just a 2–3 day gap. I do not check the pages because it doesnt matter to me. If I feel like a question or an opinion is being asked in the OP and I feel like discussing it then I would like to post about it.
All the posts are two paragraphs, 3 lines long, with slight deviations aka a broken Xerox machine!
So you expect me to write a two page essay? I think what I have written is to the point and I never went off topic. Maybe for you, writing about on topic discussions takes more than three paragraphs and I get it we are not all the same.

Maybe you cannot, but that doesnt mean others cant. I try to be quick, precise and to the point hence it takes two paragraphs, sometimes three and sometimes one.
