Bad news from two old casinos on the forum

This is shocking, it looks that there were some hacks that happened today. And it's done on the same day, might be collaborated hack from these platforms.

As per that article, it says that it's mostly stolen their ETH.

It's sad to see them go.

One of the oldest casinos and the closing date is near, I have no funds on them anymore but it feels saddening whenever one of these casinos announce their closure. They have been part of the forum and our growth as well in this community.

The way they ended the business really shows that they are running away from something that is after them. I remember Bitsler in the good old days, but after some years their activity in the forum dwindled until they tried to make a comeback around last year, if I recall well.
I hope a lot of good casinos don't get caught up in the circus. Also a lesson that data privacy, which is advertised by platforms, is a lie. Data can leak at any time.

Of course, the quick exit of the management of the gambling website is indicative of their attempts to run away from the complicated situation. The apparent activity of the company prior to closing down was nothing more than a way of covering up its bankruptcy and making old customers extremely disappointed.

It is good example of how all gambling websites should understand the vulnerability of their system of protecting consumers personal information once again. It has become obvious that such confidentiality does not last very long after the moment when the hacking takes place.

The good part about Bitsler is that they make it long for users to have a chance to withdraw their funds. That is cool of them. Other gambling sites will probably just close it down without warning, and they will just use other reasons to make their company look pitiful.

About that Duelbits news, I understand it's almost the same strategy the hackers used at Stake.com. I guess other gambling sites should learn from this. Two big companies are targeted and have the same type of hacking tools. There must be something to prevent this from happening again.

Very sad. Casinos and any business online should always troubleshoot their systems occasionally to know if it is hackerproof. They can do a hackerton. That way they know their loopholes and fix it before hackers take advantage of it.

Yes, that's why I am okay seeing casinos close because that's normal and they can be back any time they want but this could be different for bitsler.

I don't think that's long and it's all of a sudden. And might have something to do with the data breach that made Baryom did the decision - if ever he's still the owner of it.

It requires them more money to invest into their security flaws. After this incident, I think that they'll spend even more than $1M+ for them to get better security and for their customers trust to retain.

Bitsler did not give a reason the gambling site is shutting down, but according to some sources, it is because of regulatory reasons. But again, Bitsler did not stated the reason and I think the gambling site is not hacked.

This is really bad news for Bitsler, I just hope they can track down the person who drained the money from their site. I don’t know how they can recover from this loss because things like this are one reason why a lot of platforms are shutting down their operations.

I also wish that to happen, but the scammers are smart and know how to block tracing and make it difficult to be possible.

Well, I just hope they have enough funds in their cold wallet to keep their operations running smoothly without prejudice for their customers. If they had 7$ million on the hot wallet, they should have enough on a safe wallet to cover potential unexpected events, like a hacking attack.

About the hack, I hope Duelbits will be able to survive that. As per report, their annual revenue is just almost $7M, so that loss is quite significant.

As per Bitsler, no, this one is an old casino. I used to play on this one before and I even remember I was part of this campaign before they stopped. It was one of the long-term campaigns in the forum and probably one of the old casinos, but they are closed now. It's just sad.

One thing I also find interesting here about the casino  is that they announced to their customers that they are shutting down and asked them to withdraw their balances with the casino. This is enough to tell anyone that the casino is reputable.  It is sad that we are losing another reputable casino here in this forum. I also understand your concern about the short withdrawal period. I just hope that the site will not experience traffic that will prevent their customers from successfully transferring their money  during that period.

Indeed, and legit casinos have already done that in the past. I remember when Yolodice also closed the doors and announced it previously to their customers, so they could cashout any remaining funds. It shouldn't be hard for businessmen in general to stop operating in the right way, but unfortunatelly there are still many who prefer leaving the scene through an exit scam... Thankfully it's not the case here.

It seems to me hackers will continue to target casinos in the long term. This is not the first time and unfortunately won't be the last one we see a casino getting hacked and part of their assets stolen.
Not only we need to be safe as users, it has become clear that now casinos need to be more careful than before.

I still believe this is the making of some north Korean hackers.

It was unexpected news came up for duelbits, also seen recently the post before I sleep and they take down the platform for a while for further investigation but they make sure the players funds are safe and this could be unexpected even the casino's platform right now are getting compromised, base on their ANN thread is also someone trying to access their X platform so possible there is chance that they will launch too a scam link with this they can get more damage not only with the casinos reputation, but also the players.

AFAIK remembered is I havent played yet with the bitsler but if they seen not profitable anymore i guess its just normal happen to every business.

I believe that the manner in which a casino closes does reflect its attitude towards its player base. It's much preferred to notifying customers and providing a clear cut off date for them to withdraw their remaining money than to just vanishing. Leaving customers wondering where their money has gone. I also get the question that this withdrawal window is pretty brief. As there might be some people who don't receive the announcement in time. Bitsler users hopefully. Will be able to withdraw their funds easily and the closure will be done without any problem. Alas it's always sad to see another old name exit the forum. But an orderly departure is better than a scam.

This is really sad. This year has been really tough for a lot of financial companies especially those that deal with cryptocurrency. The hacks and the breach that occurred this year is something else. Even bitget has lost over $300m just after duelbit hack was announced. I really hope that these companies tighten their security. You can it be 100%safe but there should be things put in place to lessen the impacts of these breaches.
  I've not used bitsler services before and and going back to their ANN, I could see that they've really been around for a while. Too bad that they have to shut down operation. I really hope that these casinos, exchanges and wallet companies do a lot of security hardening to minimize the amount of breach they experience

The world is full of companies that are rising and falling. $7 million to the average person sounds like a lot but it's maybe a month or two of profits to the biggest casinos and they can recover from such a loss fairly easily, provided they find out how the attackers entered their systems then close it down. Splitting funds between hot and cold wallets is a risk management task, so that amount would likely be enough to cover their normal withdrawal rate but is no means the majority of player funds. As for bitsler, there are all kinds of reasons to shut down a casino but ultimately it's a high pressure sector and unless you're fully committed you'll eventually stop covering expenses, losing customers can start to take you into negative profits unless you invest. Sometimes it's just a case of cutting losses and honestly it's kinda an ugly brand name to represent.

So much hack case this year and the stolen funds is usually big, It keeps me wondering why the success rate of this scammers keep increasing. Anytime this issues comes up, I always hope that the scammers can be apprehended and made to face the consequences of their terrible actions, although one thing is certain, they can not hide for ever, definitely there luck will over one day and they will be caught and will suffer for their acts. I just hope this doesn't cause the casino to go down or even affect customers payout.

Yes, but we haven't heard about casinos being breached, so it's not a common thing to see, although it could really happened. Specially with a name like DuelBits who have been in the market for so long that they have established their reputation already.

For sure there are lessons to be learn here, like how to move funds and their hot and cold wallets security.

For Bitsler, I have to check and I found out that this is also a old casino but perhaps due to competition, it has to wind down it's operations.

Hackers are not just after casinos or gambling companies, they’re after opportunities they can make good amount of money. At least I know that Bitget isn’t also a casino or a gambling company, yet they also recently experienced a hack too. Thing is, hackers are just looking for the slightest opportunity to infiltrate the system of any established company, they pretty much don’t care what they do, as long as they can get money from it, its mission accomplished.

That is terrible news. The gambling industry is a very competitive market, no matter how long you are in the industry, no matter how big your name is, each day is like a final day for a casino. Players can win big each day and make you collapse in a week. Not to mention the operating costs from outsourcing most of the services needed to run a casino, licensing, etc.

That Duelbits case is even worse. Even if the co-founder says "user funds are safe", $7 million is still a lot of money. I asked AI about the estimated Duelbits operating costs, and AI says it could cover 7-10 months of operational costs. IMO, if it's true, it's significant. Most businesses are recommended to have cash reserves to cover 3-6 months of operating expenses. Hopefully, they have more than that in their other wallets, so they can be back soon and keep operating like Stake, which also had a similar issue a few years ago.

The next problem is the image of the casino. Since it got hacked, people may think twice about playing there again. People may think like, "oh, they are operating again, maybe this time they will take our money to cover that hack".

BTW, I read the X post by the co-founder here https://x.com/DuelbitsJoe/status/2103116878986010688, and some replies stating Duelbits seems not to appreciate well the one that reported the vulnerability (bug bounty). CMIIW.

My happiness is that the two old casinos on the forum have assured the people's money is safe. Bitseler advise for withrawal, while Duelbit said the site will be back in less than 15 hours. In addition, it is said that all funds are safe with them.

The next problem is the image of the casino. Since it got hacked, people may think twice about playing there again. People may think like, "oh, they are operating again, maybe this time they will take our money to cover that hack".

Many well-known casinos on the forum have experienced multiple exploit vulnerabilities. Stake.com, BC.Game and Roobet are the three I remember vividly. Yet, these casinos have a strong reputation and lots of customers.
