Yeah, these are definitely two bad pieces of news in a row for crypto gambling, although the reasons are completely different. In Duelbits’ case, the problem is security-related - the hot wallet hack once again shows that even a large and well-known platform can’t completely eliminate the risk of losing funds.
Bitsler is a different story. They’ve decided to shut down after years in business, but users were given enough notice to withdraw their funds, which is definitely better than a casino suddenly going offline and taking everyone’s money with it.

Are they just closing down because business is bad or afraid of the cyber attacks or maybe they too got hacked?

Based on the email I got about their closing announcement, I think the hints are enough to say they're also affected by the hack.

At the same time, their sister site Sportsbet, gave a heads-up and dropped this email yesterday.

It seems hackers put in quite a bit of overtime yesterday. I hadn't heard of Duelbits being involved in a hack before, but the Bitget exchange also suffered a hack attack exceeding $400 million.
How did these two platforms fail to protect themselves?
Bitget's loss was far greater; yet, the markets didn't fall—they didn't even react negatively to the situation.
These platforms will likely recoup their losses in a short time.

No official reason from them that I've seen either, just the "withdraw by Sept 30" notice. The timing right after the Duelbits hack makes it look connected, but it could easily be a coincidence too. Hope they post something more concrete soon instead of leaving everyone guessing.

I have also come across this news on their official Ann thread but I believe if it was a something that so much affect them that much they could have stopped most of their promotion over here.
But from their information shared across they said of coming stronger than before and most of their deposits address would be changed and some other features to ensure more better operation.

Hi all,

Updating the thread title was just a misclick, but I’m glad to see you guys are still on top of everything!
That said, for once, not everything you said is wrong :sweat_smile:. Over the past few years, Bitsler hasn’t been doing as well as it used to, and we’ve made the decision to cease operations.
Throughout this decade, we always tried to offer the best to our players, to be fair with them, and to comply with the rules while staying true to the original crypto casino spirit. But today it’s clear that the market and its environment have changed (AI, security risks etc. ) in such a way that we’re no longer attractive enough. Since we don’t want to compromise our values, the only option left was to close.

Obviously, all players can still withdraw their remaining balance, and if you run into any issue, don’t hesitate to contact our support team.

We sincerely want to thank all the players who were part of this adventure. It’s been a hell of a ride.

They still let their users to withdraw their money, and they give a month as  time span to do that. Does a bankrupt casino let user to do that? it doesn't. So it's more like they have serious concern about the regulation and market trend right now.
Curacao is tightening their regulation, and they even ordered casino to do geo blocking on the gray area, which is gonna be a huge lose for casino. Their license fees is also getting more expensive, and winding down the operation is far better instead of continue to run the business under the bigger pressure.

Aside that AI is developing so fast, and this is not only threatening the crypto based platform such as dex or cex, but even casino is also potentially becoming a target by the bad actors. It pushes casino to put more concern into their security, which is obviously increasing to cost to maintain the security.

I think they're not doing it wrong by closing their service. Everything is moving so fast, and i think bitsler may comeback in the different version, maybe they will think to launch their own prediction market

The timing of the informations leak from the Curacao Gaming Authority and the $7 million Duelbit hack is suspicious, to say the least... don't know if  its' the case bit it might looks like just a way to evade taxes now that the owners' identities are public knowledge.

Both cases are a good reminder that the name or age of a casino doesn't automatically mean your funds are safe. a hack is one risk, but a site simply shutting down can be just as messy for users. i'd definitely want to know the withdrawal situation before keeping any serious balance there.

This is indeed very sadden news for both duelbits, and blisters, and I believe they will recover from this attack, and maybe come up with a better strategy that will ensure better safety measures. These scammers are really terrible, and it seems their activities sometimes are very difficult to detect. Defrauding a gambling company this amount of money is capable of wiping out profit, and liquidating the company itself. What could be the solution to this high level of scamming? And does it mean these gambling companies that are being scammed don't have all it takes to keep their fund safe from these scammers. Well, the attack has happened, other gambling should tighten up their security measures to remain safe in the gambling industry.

Wow, this is truly not a good one for gamblers at this moment and I hope everyone that has an account with them gets to withdraw their money before the deadline, this is why it's always good to bet with a reputable casinos because it's not all the platforms that will give this privilege to their players to withdraw their balances some would have even taken advantage of this and restrict the accounts so the players can't get access to it.

I don't appreciate casinos in most cases but still the way it happened to them I really wasn't able to run it again but still they made some investment and tried to stand up again and till now they are working in it. In a few more months they will be 2 years old again and this proves that if your goal is to prove your work to people then you have to work hard and lift again which is why they are working till today. This time people are sure that they are among the best casinos and the one who is running it is also a big person so I think if someone wants to run their grey business again with patience then they should learn something from them so that to succeed they have to lose something.

Casinos need to take their security more seriously, the tech team or cyber security experts that they employ always need to upgrade their system even though they feel like there's no threat to their system, but it is better to be safe than sorry. With an unexpected crash like this a lot of players would be affected, they probably have funds that they didn't withdraw and for those that did KYC their personal informations have been exposed to scammers. The most important feature a casino must have is a proper security that cannot be breached by hackers.

It's a sad news indeed especially for bitsler, It's one of the casinos that I play regularly before since they had a good promotions and very active here in this forum but yeah, we can see now that casino competition competing each other is true and sadly there are some casinos that can't fight back.

This is why I believe that having a good marketing makes the casinos live. It's a battle of marketing now, gaining new gamblers while retaining existing players is a must. I don't consider this amount to be huge for casinos. The casinos in question likely earn this sum in a day—or two at most.
It is a huge amount for people like me, but it isn't a large sum for casinos.
