I've never played at Bitsler online casino, although I've heard the name mentioned many times. It was also discussed on our forum. I can't recall them holding any events or contests on the forum (although I could have missed that information, of course).🙋

I attribute the closure of this online casino to the FATF policy. Previously, Bitsler simply acquired a sublicense from the master license holder and conducted its business as it saw fit. The Curacao government did not conduct any audits of Bitsler's activities.

As far as I understand, current regulations require full disclosure of beneficial owners.  Many online casino owners find it easier to close their businesses than to give up their anonymity and privacy (perhaps this is an example for all of us, even though we don't have large businesses).

Also, there was a requirement to open a physical office in Curaçao, hire local employees, etc. For businessmen who consider themselves digital nomads, these requirements might seem excessive.

Also, KYC and AML requirements have become more stringent (this, unfortunately, is now a global trend). The founders of Bitsler may have decided that this completely contradicts the original concept of their online casino. Overall, I believe their decision was well-founded and far from spontaneous.🧖

I've seen some closures in the past and it took the closure a while for everyone to withdraw their funds but, some users missed the announcement despite that the window for withdrawal is long.

The announcement isn't only here on the forum, their own site itself shows they are no longer accepting bets, the only way you miss that kind of information is if you don't ever visit the casino until the deadline is up, after all they are still making provision for people to still be able to get their money till October 31, it means more effort on the side of the person but it's still far better then the site just closing out of nowhere and all of the money people have there gone with them, if that had been the case people would have started calling them scammers completely ignoring/forgetting all their years or efficient service.

In Duelbits’ case, the problem is security-related - the hot wallet hack once again shows that even a large and well-known platform can’t completely eliminate the risk of losing funds.

It was popular in the past and the forum did really helped its promotion through its campaign and they were one of the campaigns that have advertised for a long time here. IIRC, there were some contests although I cannot vividly remember that.

They were also the ones who promoted their branding as the "instant deposit". CMIIW, that is even the transaction hasn't been confirmed yet by user's deposit to their bitsler's wallet address, it's considered as instant. I didn't took a long time playing in them though.

If they are not enjoying their business, then it's obvious that they are not doing things the right way, but instead of them trying to work on themselves to be better, they decided to call it a quit, that's very sad.

 I agree with you that duelbit is the biggest concern here because of their popularity and name they have made for themselves, but this ugly experience should make them to be more careful on security, because if they were better security wise, they wouldn't have lost such a large amount of money. I believe that thorough investigation is going on right now, that's why they don't want to make any public announcement yet, but in a couple of days, I believe that they will come up with their own side of the story, and what have been done to prevents something like this from happening again.

I've never used Bitsler, but I know its history, and seeing it shut down is a bad surprise. Regarding Duelbits, I hope they overcome this and improve their security; this serves as a warning for improvements.

Some are being hacked; others are shutting down; the market has been turbulent lately. Here in Brazil, some will also cease operations soon if a law prohibiting online casinos is approved, which the president plans to pass. It seems that security has become a fragile issue for crypto companies.

These are two unfortunate incidents and sad news in the gambling industry, because since when I joined this forum, both casinos have always been some of the casinos that are known to be trustworthy and reliable to it's users in the gambling community. And coming across this news now about the closure of "bitsler" and the hacked of "Duelbit" that have been in existence for many years just proves a sign for the rest crypto casinos to be extremely careful when it comes to security and the use of AI to getting maximum results from their casino operations. Because with the high rate of casinos getting launched every week, if you are unable to have dedicated gamblers on your casino, you may end up keep losing players. Hence, the need for casino to embrace the use of AI in effective marketing and operations.

Bitsler casino were not compromised, they are shutting down out of their own will and it is because business has not be so good for them of late. So their revenue is not great to keep the casino running, leading them to take this difficult decision of winding down. It is Duelbits that were compromised and lost around 7m.

I haven't visited Bitsler in a long time, but I have fond memories associated with the site, so it's sad news. But objectively, they were late in offering a wide selection of games and advertising effectively, so they lost the competitive battle.
I would also like to note that I don't like it when projects shut down so quickly (specifically regarding the return of funds after the official closure). Don’t know how long ago they announced they were shutting down (it might have been a while ago, and all the clients are already aware), but in any case, a one-month window after operations cease to resolve outstanding issues is very short.

Not enjoying the business? Is that really the right way to put it? We could say that maybe they haven't been able to generate enough revenue lately, and that might be the reason why they decided to close down all of a sudden, and if by saying "not enjoying the business" you mean this, then you are right, because undoubtedly, a business that doesn't earn enough money or attract enough customers will not be enjoyable by those who own the business because you can't just keep running a business from your pocket or once it reaches the point where even the operational funds are not being generated, then it's game over, of course.

As about Duelbits, I think I agree with you on that. $7m for a casino is not a small amount, a casino might have that much as their total reserves or bankroll, and if they lose such a large amount in a hack or an attack, operating for them might become difficult because they wouldn't have any reserves in case a gambler manages to win something big. So let's hope that they don't shut down permanently, and they get to recover the funds somehow, which sounds like a dream, though.

Waking up in the morning, I had to see 3 pieces of bad news: Duelbits got hacked for 7 million $, Bitsler is going to shut down their operation, but the third one was the biggest shocking news to me, Bitget was hacked, a hacker stole $387M, it’s really bad news for the crypto community. Since Bitget has a $450M user protection fund, I hope users affected by this hack will receive a refund. So I hope Bitget can get through this tough time. I don’t know if the hackers from Duelbits and the hacker of Bitget are from the same group. $7M is not a small amount, but it’s not a very big amount for Duelbits. Their operation is temporarily closed, but I think they will be able to make a comeback quickly. What happened to Bitsler, a very old casino, on which I had gambled during 2016-2017. I haven’t seen any news about it being hacked. I don’t know why they are suddenly shutting down their operation.

Reserve point is important cause it impart on major hack it not only on the amount stolen. Large losse can put pressure on the casino ability to handle normal operations and withdrawals most especially in the case were the available funds are being affected. This shows why security should be treated as part of the business not only technical issues. This week has not been a pleasant one for the crypto casino industry. Duelbit hacks, Livecasino, and Bitsler's ending operations are not good news. Some casinos, including Stake, have been hacked and they were fortunate to have enough funds to continue operations. Hacks could be caused by different factors, which could be very complex. Hackers are constantly devising new ways to break the security systems of different platforms. The good news is that Duelbits co-founder Joe said that customers' funds are safe.

I was wondering why Bitsler is closing and did some research on it. It is speculated that, they are closing based on some regulation problems. It’s not strange that with the way more and more casinos are entering the space, their would be need for more tight regulations.

It’s a honorable thing though for Bitsler to put out these notifications for gambling customers to withdraw the funds they might have on the website before 1st of October and even further extends the deadline to 31st of October via customer support. So if you missed out on October 1st, you can always reach out to the support that remains functional till 31st of October or you might just lose your funds.

Duelbits though, seems what is lost here is the casino funds on their hot wallet. It’s still a bad news, hackers getting to get their hands on over $7m worth of casino funds. Don’t know if they feel they wouldn’t be investigated and possible found. Hope we have them back and functioning real soon.

$7 million is actually a lot of money and this might be difficult for them to get back, according to what I saw bitsler gave an important notification telling gamblers to take out their funds because they could detect whatever was wrong with the casino or if there was going to be a breach, duelist didn't detect anything and this just happened out of the blue,I just hope that everything going on isn't real with both casinos
