I’ve been thinking about something that happens in almost every community. Some people  eventually get to a point where they have more experience, knowledge and opportunities than they had when they started. From there, they can either keep what they’ve learnt to themselves or help someone coming behind them.

I’m not saying anyone owes anybody person a shortcut. People should still put in the work and earn their progress but if you already have something and helping another person move forward doesn’t really take anything away from you, why not do it?

Well maybe sometimes people become protective of the position they have worked hard to reach or maybe they simply don’t realize how much a small push from someone more experienced can mean to someone still trying to find their feet. Sometimes I wonder why we are more willing to keep helping people who are already doing well while someone who is genuinely trying to find their feet gets overlooked.

Nothing really last forever. The person you look down on today might be the same person you need help from tomorrow. So where do you draw the line between protecting what you have built and helping someone else build theirs?

Helping people that are trying to get on their feet cost nothing, but like you have mentioned people prefer to help people that are already doing well, rather than helping someone that is trying to get on their feet. I think why this happen is because they believe that these people they are trying to help will be able to help them back in another way, but they don't believe that someone that is trying to get on their will be able to help them, so they rather help those that are already doing well in the hope that they will return the favor someday.

Nothing really last forever. The person you look down on today might be the same person you need help from tomorrow. So where do you draw the line between protecting what you have built and helping someone else build theirs?

People will always want to protect their trade secrets to avoid competition. It's not greed; it's just to preserve their commercial value and competitive advantage. Not just individuals, but big corporations and countries also keep their trade secrets secret.

There are also limits to keeping opportunities secret. It is not wrong to share knowledge that can benefit others. I have been studying a Solar entrepreneur, Joe Flez, who recently passed away. He was selfless enough to offer his skills freely to people. Helping others brings uncommon joy and satisfaction that money cannot buy.

I have always offered my skills and knowledge freely so that it would benefit those who don't have the means to access them.

I think that we should always be a little selfish before reaching out to help another person because there is a saying somehow that we shouldn't rescue a giant in a well, if you try the weight of the giant can pull you into the same well that you're trying to rescue the giant from. Inasmuch as helping somebody in need is very good you have to determine your capacity to help and whether the help will affect you negatively, if you can answer these questions sincerely to yourself that is what will determine whether you'll go ahead or not.

Remember that some people are very wicked and they can use bad to repay your good to them so don't entirely go out of your way to help or please somebody, do what you can and move on. Never give everything you have to help somebody, you should keep enough for yourself because that person might not reciprocate if the table were to turn around so always give with wisdom.

Deciding to help someone from the very beginning isn't as simple as it seems; offering assistance inevitably requires a sacrifice on your part, even if it is just your time.
What I fear is that my help might foster dependency, given the clear limitations they face in achieving their dreams. A few days ago, I came across an interesting message in a short video that went something like this: "If you decide to help someone out of your own initiative, the next time you help, it will be because of a request."

Be kind, that includes giving a hand to a coworker or anything that you can do to others which they are in need of desperately, not everyone has the heart to do that and not everyone can be such all that time but whenever you can just be good and it may have consequences as good or bad but hope it's not bad.

Regardless the level of wealth you’ve attained, choosing to help people should be totally up to you and no one should ever make t look like you owe them anything or that they are entitled to being helped by you. As you grow, your interest naturally goes beyond you and you start to look out for how you can be a source of help to the others that are probably less opportuned compared to you.

Nature rewards givers and so technically , if you’re giving out, at that point something might be leaving you but the principle of sowing and reaping always pays you back in double fold.

It used to not cost anything to help others, because there was abundance.   That is no longer the case!

You give your hungry friend some food - there is less for your family.   You give a person a ride to work, it costs you extra gas.   You lend an ear to your friend, eventually you get affected.

If you want your generosity to be recognized, go somewhere there is a shortage.  Hand out water on a hot day - give free meat to a hungry crowd - eventually there will be more need than you have the resources for.  Sad

Helping people move forward is good a will cost you a sacrificial mind to do that  mostly when you are not expecting a pay back.
Looking at it this way that the resource you invested in that person can be used to solve some problems or meet other personal needs.
Helping people is a long time nvestment like Bitcoin, you don't get back returns immediately when invest but rather wait for some time before the reward will be visible to use. Just like not all investments are productive, likewise not everyone you help will resiprocate.

In as much as we are not obliged to help, help from us should come of free will. You owe no one a helping hand.

If the resources we have are not in abundance, forget about helping others. Without your existence, those people will find a way to get what they want. Die now, and they will move on to the next person for help. If there is no overflow of resources, that it's too much for one person to handle, limit the way you give to others because if you eventually fall down to their level, they can't raise you back up.

Sometimes think of it this way. If you are in the same position of needing help, will they be willing to help you?

Nothing really last forever. The person you look down on today might be the same person you need help from tomorrow. So where do you draw the line between protecting what you have built and helping someone else build theirs?
Not every kind of help is free if you help someone too much it can make them dependent. Giving someone useful direction and doing the difficult work for them are two different things there is a difference between them. If I have experience of something, I can help other I can give them direction, share my experience with them point out mistakes and also give them opportunity to start but after all of this they still need to put in their own effort. If you put too much energy into work they only learn how to follow our path instead of developing their own ability.
It is also true that we should not be so caught up in our own things that we refuse to help people who are below us it is good to share your knowledge with other. At same time, we should set boundaries because our resources time and opportunities are not unlimited.

Help just like you describe is just an assistant been rendered to somebody, it's not an entitlement, people can only help you based on their personal conviction. If they haven't given you such help, it's either they haven't noticed you, or they are occupied by other things you might not be awe of. But don't say because this person is at a higher level he or she should help you, that's entitlement mentality, people can help you without needing your help in the future, and there are people you might help today that can still fight for your downfall tomorrow, so helping someone is totally at the discretion of those that have the influence to do so, and they don't owe anything if they refuse.
