Are there still people holding worthless altcoins?

I bought many altcoins during covid and post-covid. Was quite heavily invested in the Cosmos ecosystem (Atom, Cronos, Juno, Osmosis, etc), but unfortunately, despite the good use cases, those altcoin prices dumped heavily.

Learnt a lesson. Use cases != price appreciation. There are so many other important factors.

Now I only have BTC and ETH.

Some worthless coins are still in my wallets, I regret buying some of these coins because I thought they are you going to have good future, but the market turned against these projects because they are not strong enough to withstand this long bear market, selling them off is not the solution because I lost a lot already, I need to be patient to wait for the market to recover or even wait for the bull run to sell these coins that’s if they will still be alive by then because in this crypto market, only projects with great potentials will survive in this market.

Despite having few good ecosystem coins, things are looking not good for altcoins because most are going down and investors are losing drastic amounts of money. It's increasing discouragement for people who have the mind to invest in altcoins.
I personally lost enough money and now have a lesson: never try to have these because mostly they have no chance of giving any penny back to investors; they are dead or created to have investors' money and then never do anything positive. Recently, Solan has had a good jump; it's encouraging people for investment, and a few are doing it, but I am still having just Bitcoin without any hesitation because investing in these can ruin funds quickly.

Yes but, I didn't bought them.

IIRC, those were from the automatic distributions of airdrops per wallet address. I have never seen them grow in value.

Maybe some but, I thought that they will be more worth it than the receiving value but in the end I held them and got nothing. No reasons to sell but, I can't dispose them.

There are lots of people still holding. Some still believe that it will pump someday, and they still hold unto it. Some are just hilfiynot because they have hope in it. They are just holding for holding sake. Not intentional about it because they already lost hope about it. Another reason while some is still holding till date is that it's not easy for them let go considering the amount of money they spent when I investing in the project. It's just so disappointing that you put in so much maouuof money into a project and at the end, you discover it's pump and dump.

I have only gotten involved in an altcoin once, and I lost massively, even my time was just so wasted. And I got off from such activities. But I have friends who are still very much active and holding depite there losses. They still have hooes, I guess.

I guess they are holding on to them out of the hope that somehow, someday, they will get their money back from a failed coin? I can kind of understand that though, I myself am still holding on to a handful of crapcoins from the ICO age.

Obviously. I had like countless of different wallet addresses and i was getting all sort of promotional and bounty tokens.
But you can make a lot of profit in a same way these days. It doesn't even matter if majority of them are scams, because we were making money with tokens we knew that wouldn't fly in a long run.

Majority of them were just experiments or just slow rug pulls and people believed them, sometimes even the devs believed in them, but that didn't help.
Trick was that you didn't want to end up being a bag holder. Lots of times it was the only option though, as liquidity never came, so those are still in my wallets.

Yes, of course. I still have it.
If I were not so lazy, I would actually take screenshots of my portfolio.

But, ugh, I really can't be bothered to deal with those shitcoins. Still, at least I have this lousy list:
1. BTTC (I'm pretty sure this one is dead)
2. ATH (Aither Token, I honestly don't even know what this token is or where I got it)
3. KOM (Ugh, I'm also confused about where I got this one)
4. Pepe (Got caught up in the FOMO. I'm sure this one will die out or has no future)
5. VELO (No idea why I even have this)
6. SFP (The price used to be really good back in the day)
7. SUN (This one even switched blockchains)
8. And plenty more.
Should I also include POL, Doge, and LTC on this list?
These are truly worthless altcoins now.

Been there done that. The truth is, it's not as easy as it sounds. Selling at the right time can be luck or it can be based on analysis as well.
But nobody can tell for sure when a particular cryptocurrency will rise or dump.
So it's better to sell while you are still in good profits if at all you are holding any altcoin which you are not determined to hold for long term and it's still giving you decent returns.

Its really one of the biggest problem for peoples because they are having no enough knowledge about project and they also not give time to check things about team and related even in few cases things are not work because no one have perfect use case and relative stuff about project its always serious matter which needed to be understand before investing.

Usually it's good after having early concerns to stop investing in altcoins, but people still don't learn their lesson and try to keep their minds on the dream of having a good profit in case there's any pump. It's never been a good strategy; always try to be realistic and never give your money to projects where you have no chance of having any penny back.

During altcoins hype, I had bought some and that was before I became a member here in the forum. I thought that, those shitcoins will make me rich but too bad, they put me in a big loss because they're sitting in my wallet useless. Getting here, I was told that only bitcoin is worth investing in and I have confirmed it since, I started buying bitcoin. You don't hold shitcoins for long if possible, sell it even when you're in loss because it might become useless tomorrow.

Very useless that you will find them delisted from exchanges. I have quite a few that have been delisted from exchanges. These were altcoins that looked promising and were hype by many, but today their value has become zero, leaving us who invested with losses. That's the risk that comes with investing in altcoins; we get to deal with that and learn to correct ourselves next time by investing in Bitcoin.

Some people end up losing access to those wallets holding worthless altcoins, there is no reason to hold those wallets when majority of the altcoins are no longer existing, some of them already migrated to a new blockchain and those who didn't get the information on time are holding worthless tokens. It turns out to be a waste of time, hoping that someday, the project will bounce back, meanwhile they've moved to create the next scam altcoin.

Some people still have confidence in altcoins, they still believe if they buy some altcoins, they will be able to make some good amount of money, that’s why they keep on investing in all those altcoins. They don’t know that we no longer in altcoin season, period when altcoins are always pumping has passed, if you are investing in altcoins now, then it’s better you don’t expect much from them, and you should know their is high chances of closing, because it’s difficult to get real altcoin now.

people bought some coins which at the end they ended up dumping, and they have very low value right now, some people don’t sell those coins, because they believe maybe later in the future, those coins can pump again, and they will be able to sell at better price, which is the reason why they decide to hold it.

Since 2021, the altcoin market has not seen much growth, which is why the prices of altcoins have not increased, but some coins in the wallet have lost value. There are some top altcoins that have shown positive effects, but no longer able to recover the low-quality tokens. Moreover, all the tokens that were free in the wallet are now only dust. Investors who bought low-quality tokens in the bull market are definitely losing money. Most of those tokens are now in a crisis of non-existence. I bought some tokens that are now worthless. Although I think the tokens will definitely give a positive response in the bull market. However, most of the investors who were greedy are the ones who have suffered the most.

Yeah, I have some altcoins in my wallet that are completely worthless now. I just leave them there and don't touch them anymore, I don't even expect them to gain any value anymore even if an altcoin trend pops up in the future – I've already accepted that it's part of my failure to trust some altcoin projects and then getting too confident that they would give me a lot of profit, which in the end turned out to be completely worthless.

Everyone are holding worthless altcoins. Only those who have created new addresses and never used them have avoided having their addresses filled with scam altcoins that were constantly sent. Anyone who has ever participated in airdrop or bounty, or tried to take part in new project, hold dozens of worthless altcoins. A lot of investors or gamblers meme-coin hunters have worthless altcoins also. Why people still hold them? There are many reasons for that, from greed to laziness to sell them, from stupidity to hope they would cost something one day.

I have experienced everything you mentioned while holding altcoins, and honestly, it was a foolish mistake I made in the past. I believe anyone who used to hunt for airdrops or participate in bounty programs—where rewards were paid in altcoins—ended up with wallets full of worthless altcoins . I once bought into ICO projects hoping to sell once they listed on major exchanges, only to discover they were scams. I also held onto altcoins hoping for massive price surges, only to see them become completely worthless. My experience has shown that, back then, only one in ten—or perhaps one in a hundred—altcoin projects actually succeeded and made millionaires out of their holders. The rest were merely exit scams designed for developers to run off with investors' money.

Do you still have any altcoins in your holdings like this that currently have no value at all? Partly. I sold the ones that still had some liquidity, even at a big loss, because I didn't like seeing them sitting in my wallet. They made it a mess and reminded me of my bad buys.

The ones that were delisted or have no market left can't really be sold, so those are still there, or I just hide them in the wallet. Sometimes the network fee is also higher than the value of the tokens, so it's not worth moving them.

IMO, if a project is clearly dead and there is still a buyer, it's better to sell it and move on than to wait for a pump that may never come. But if there is no market at all, there is not much anyone can do.

That time you are talking about is the bull run period, every coin is in a massive movement then, and that was when almost everyone will claim to be crypto influencer because almost every coin you invested in will give you profit, unless if you are greedy.

For the past two years now, many altcoin holders are just there with junk of altcoins in their wallets with no value, some altcoins are dead, while some are still there but haven’t regained their value or haven’t given any profit, we can’t afford to sell some of them because selling them can be selling at loss right now. It’s time to test our patience in crypto because when the bull run come again, we can make profit but when? That’s the question always.
