Prayers or Technology?

In the world today, modern socities are tilting towards technological advancement to build their economy and security architecture and systems, also making life easier for their people.For example, the use of artificial intelligence is helping humans to take on task in quick time and has also reduced the risk of work hazards faced by humans.In the area of health sector you could see how the use of AI has helped to improve the medical sector whereby patience and doctors can communicate from a distance through telemedic.

The list is endless if we are to go on mentioning the impact of technology to today's world and it is very ridiculous to hear when people you think have traveled around the world and have gained exposure addition to their education would have been the persons advocating for advancement in science and technology in our country Nigeria, this are the people that are instead calling for prayers and fasting as solution to combat social and economic problems over technological development.

I don't want to drag this farther but looking at the other worlds that have given priority to science and technology over religion, you all can be the judge about where the leading economies are and how life appears to be better compared to the purported religious brainwashed societies.

This thread is motivated by the speech of certain Pastor who said Nigeria position might be for prayers and revivals and not to be making machines (going into building technology). Guys, my simple question about this which I leave with you all, has religion helped Nigeria in all ramifications more than it has set it backwards?

Religion is the opium of the people. Religion has made people forget that they actually have common sense to get things done, all they do is rely on religion for everything to be miraculously done for them.

We keep blaming the government up and down, but have we even bother to consider why it is still impossible for our youths to attend private university even when the owners of this institution are pastors and cleric. I will not judge, so let me leave that subject alone

AFAIK, even the westerners that colonized us and gave us this religion, no even pray pass us. I don't hate religion o, whatever your religion is am sure that we can coexist with one another, but what pisses me the hell off is when person begin to put religion above everything else. Things that they are now supposed to do, they will not do it because they are depending on region. Even till now I am a true believe, so hell yeah over the years I have been among those lot who have been praying for a good leader to come, but it looks as if the opposite of what we pray is what happens. So why bother still thinking religion can fix everything.

Agree with me or not, Nigeria isn't rosy like other countries even with the level of our religiosity. Prayers should never replace what the country really needs which is better technology, education, good leaders, end of extortion, end of terrorism and so many others.

Guys, my simple question about this which I leave with you all, has religion helped Nigeria in all ramifications more than it has set it backwards?

Technology can exist with religion. There are may scientists in the past, today and there will be scientists in the future that are Christians, Muslims, Buddhist or that are in other religion that believe in their God but invented something. United States, England, France, Russia and many developed nations are Christians. I do not think religion should be related with it because religion did not say people should not go to school or research and develop.

Religious leaders like him are part of  the problem we have in this country, they leave preaching about salvation, love for one another, leaving a modest life but misleading heir followers with wrong teachings. If religious leaders of other countries that are using modern tech to develop their nation talk against it, would they had gone that far? God gave us brains for a reason which is to solve problems but here in Nigeria many people still pray to God for things they would've solved themselves, it's just like giving someone spoon to eat yet he's asking you to feed him whereas his both hand are okay. They're just lucky that God is merciful.

To an extent I will accept this your self explanatory ideology that says most religions leaders are the problem of there nations because if they stood by telling many the truth they don't know about life, many would have changed there thinking and channel all attention towards the development of their country.
Religious leaders concentrates on the importance of giving  and tithes because they know what they stand to gain and also concentrate on the establishment of wrong teachings when it has to do with advancement in technology. If we want a better nation, the truth should be said about the reality of life so many can stop depending on miracles when we need to work hard

Religious leaders in Nigeria are the biggest scam and the problem that is stopping the country from moving forward imagine a pastor who's children are enjoying the development that is done by humans in the Western world discouraging people from choosing technology over prayers and fasting that shows you how low the people has become because it is only in a country where people have chosen not to be liberated that will accept such teachings when they see the importance use of technology to the modern socities. God has given us the wisdom icis left for us to use it to develop our countries the way we want them to be and stop depending on people who only benefit when the people are in darkness.
