Prof. Joash Amupitan spoke during a visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, ahead of INEC’s zonal interactive meeting and readiness assessment for 2027.

We have seen the INEC body in operation right from the beginning of this country Nigeria, but I don't think any of them have secured the confidence of Nigerians, each time we are approaching to election period, the politicians see them as an anchor to scale through even when they fail election, and this has been the reason why we have not been able to install the leaders of our choice. Listen to the words of the INEC chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan saying they will ensure transparency and fairness in the upcoming 2027 general election, to me is like the manifesto of some Nigeria politician, they only talk to gain the support of the people but in reality their words are not protected. Of a truth, the country Nigeria is lacking good leadership, and the INEC body can actually ensure transparency if they can be honest enough, but Nigerians seems to have more fear in the INEC body than even the presidential aspirant because of the INEC body did not accept bribery, there will not be corruption, and the choice of the Nigeria majority will emerge.
Am encouraging the the INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan to stand by his words irrespective of the pressure the political parties might mount on him, he should remain steadfast, and defend his integrity because someone who has built integrity will ever be respected, and honoured than someone who sold the happiness of his people for money.
INEC should help Nigeria build a better country that we all desire, because of bad leading, our wealth is is being used to build other nations while we exclaim in the mist of wealth and plenty of natural resources.

Those promises are for the media and not a reflection of their electoral practices of which they don't deliver with integrity. They have already started their manipulations as lots of people are finding it difficult to register for PVC at the accredited centers, so where is the neutrality while they're intentionally disenfranchising citizens?

One thing we should understand about Nigeria politics is that a sitting electoral leader js not easy to beat when going into an election for a second term with them. They have the political power and strength to do whatever they like and make the election turn into their own favour. The INEC officials, security agencies and also INEC officials are all under their payroll and can easily give them directives that they cannot go against but abide by. Nigeria is not an honest country when it comes to free and fair elections. Until Nigeria prove us wrong to be a just country, we already lost hope in INEC’s credibility in conducting a free and fail elections in the country.
