People like you OP who is making a big deal out of satoshi's bag will panic, but I trust many others, as there are many investors who don't know about satoshis bag, they don't care and they won't mind.

CZ said in an interview that's they should freeze the satoshis bag and I don't know how it's going to be possible, in the first place why is someone's else struggle affecting people? It shouldn't be the case.

Satoshi deserves that bag, it's the only thing he can show as a reward for his innovation, and some useless humans are hoping they burn the bag or make it render useless, greedy people who only care about themselves.

Imagine a modern myth suddenly walking into the room. If Satoshi Nakamoto moves those 1.1 million Bitcoins, it won’t just be a financial event it will be a deeply human, psychological earthquake for millions of people worldwide.

Is there a possibility in this?

https://cryptonews.net/33510793/?utm_source=CryptoNews&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=shared
If this were to happen, something major would undoubtedly happen, affecting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Personally, I believe that if Satoshi were to move his Bitcoin to another wallet or exchange, for example, it would certainly create a tremendous panic. Many people are certainly afraid of what would happen if their Bitcoin were sold or something similar. So, that would clearly be a huge event. But I'm confident that won't happen, especially at this point. I'm sure Satoshi knows that if he moved Bitcoin to his wallet, it could create a different feeling among Bitcoin investors. Therefore, Satoshi would clearly not do such a thing. He's a genius, and he wouldn't destroy his own invention (Bitcoin). That's my personal conclusion, and I hope this doesn't happen. But yes, what can you do, if Satoshi does it, because no one can stop him.

Hard to say but I'm expecting panic and FUD from those who invested on bitcoin. A large supply chunk who is sitting out there suddenly move would make so many speculations like thinking that satoshi is still alive or hackers found ways to infiltrate the wallets and move it. Even accessing his account here in this forum or just by him opening his account here showing that he'd been active recently on his "Last Active status" would make an uproar and so many speculations.

We don't have any clue to who he was so any details tied about him is very very important. Two person I can think of that has a bit of information about satoshi is themos and sirius, as "I assume" that they both had some conversation before passing this forum to themos.
This forum was created by Satoshi and Sirius. I didn't know about Bitcoin at the time.

Though going back, moving anything related to satoshi would most likely makes everything a bit complicated, we can possibly see a rather complicated crypto economy on a short term.

Hackers would most likely track him down with every bit of information revealed knowing that he's possibly alive. Massive sell offs and main stream news would most likely broadcast it.

If Satoshi Nakamoto moves those 1.1 million Bitcoins,
Lets get one thing clear here: nobody knows how much bitcoins the entity known as Satoshi Nakamoto owns. The 1.1 million that you are quoting here is the most popular guess but still a guess.

What happens if it suddenly moved? Nothing much. We are going to definitely see some panic sellers, panic sell their coins and the market will be disrupted for a short time before going back to normal. The scale of that "disruption" depends on the market trend at the time:
- During bull runs when price is constantly going up and fresh money is pouring in, such FUD is not going to have a significant effect. So the panic sell will have a very small impact.
- During bear markets when price is going lower and sell pressure is already high, such a FUD could contribute to that sell pressure and intensify the drop. So the effect of panic sell is more intensified.

But it will be short term nonetheless.

CZ said in an interview that's they should freeze the satoshis bag and I don't know how it's going to be possible, in the first place why is someone's else struggle affecting people? It shouldn't be the case.
It's not surprising to see such a nonsense come from owner of a centralized service who tried to bribe miners to roll back blocks just because his exchange got hacked and he lost other people's money that was in his custody.

As you said, this is not possible at the protocol level because Bitcoin is censorship resistant. But exchanges could decide to freeze any account that is linked to these coins just like they can freeze any account for any arbitrary reason...

Moving 1.1 million BTC will be too much for the market. The impact, we can't even tell how deep it can affect the market.

A very large number of Bitcoiners already consider those coins to be permanently lost, moving them is definitely going to change their perception of Bitcoin's available supply even before they're sold.

Another interesting angle would be the uncertainty that'll come with it. While some people will believe that it's Satoshi himself that moved the coins, some will think it's an old wallet that's been maliciously accessed, others will think it's a security issue or that it was simply moved for a reason that's different selling. That level of uncertainty will create ridiculous short-term volatility.

I don't know why this is being discussed again, aren't people tired of constantly asking whether Satoshi will move his Bitcoin or not. Why do people act like Satoshi is a threat to Bitcoin itself with the 1.1 million Bitcoin sitting in the wallet that is claimed to be his. Even if this Bitcoin does move, I don't think that's the end of Bitcoin. It will affect the Bitcoin price for sure, but I think in the end, the price will recover anyway. There's no need to overreact about this like the movement of those Bitcoins is the end of everything.

So far this is well known addresses link to Satoshi.

https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa

https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/1HLoD9E4SDFFPDiYfNYnkBLQ85Y51J3Zb1

Also look how they find that 1.1 million BTC estimation.

Quote
The 1.1 million BTC estimate didn't come from a guess. It came from a specific piece of research.

In 2013, blockchain researcher Sergio Demián Lerner identified what he called the Patoshi Pattern — a distinctive fingerprint in the way early Bitcoin blocks were mined. The nonce values (numbers used in the mining process) in a large cluster of early blocks followed a consistent pattern that separated them from other miners on the network. The timing and behavior of these blocks pointed to a single entity mining the majority of blocks between January 2009 and mid-2010.

Either their research made is accurate or not base on what they write here https://nexo.com/blog/satoshi-nakamoto-bitcoin-wallet One thing is for sure, Bitcoin scarcity remains and people will continue to support Bitcoin. Also that situation make everything good for the community, since by dumping that funds meaning there's no one finally controls Bitcoin.

Only thing that is sure: after this event there will be no FUD anymore about "what if Satoshi moved his Bitcoins?" Smiley

Seriously, even if we see it from a purely mathematical perspective, this would increase the "circulating" BTC supply only by about 5-7% (depending which "lost bitcoins" we include).

According to the Quantitative Theory of Value, the value would go down these 5-7%. Nothing that strange in the Bitcoin world. And even if he sold them, he can't sell them twice, so after the event it is likely that the BTC price will recover fast.

You mean if Satoshi Nakamoto injects its net holdings into the market.
And only this specific amount of supply causes the market to crash by 5% to 7%, right? But I think the crash can be a little bigger than we are speculating. This act can influence a big FUD in the Bitcoin market, which can bring big fear among many holders.

And by seeing this, many can also start to sell their holdings, which is why I am saying this crash can be bigger than we are expecting right now. About recovery, there is no doubt that a fast recovery is expected, as those who really understand the technology of Bitcoin will never miss the chance to accumulate it from a very low bottom in such a case. This is my point of view on this. CMIIW!

The impact in the market will be much. Satoshi moving his BTC or some other person doing it for Satoshi will have different meanings and interpretation to people;

This is because many people see Satoshi holding as a bitcoin reserve lol, just like a security fund. Since Satoshi funds is intact, there's a backup for bitcoin, while in reality it's not so.

Another reason for FUD is, people will believe that there's big manipulation in the market, especially if Satoshi didn't move the funds himself. Someone has to explain how the funds were moved without the private keys.

But one good thing is that, if it happens once, it won't happen again. The market will definitely overcome it and that will be all for that...

It’s good to think otherwise, but making it look as he is a threat to Bitcoin is what makes it looks odd. If he finally moves the Bitcoin, it will definitely affect t the market temporary. There will be FUD amongst investors, and some will want to sell early if they are already in profit because they knew the price will dump because 1.1 million BTC is not something we can even imagine.
But will that be the end of Bitcoin? No. It might take some time for the market recover, and some investors will use that as an opportunity to buy more if the price drops down.

And even if he sold them, he can't sell them twice, so after the event it is likely that the BTC price will recover fast.
If Satoshi sells his coins, a lot of people's confidence in bitcoin would shake and it would trigger a bad perception towards the longevity of bitcoin since even the creator is dumping his coins and exiting the market. A corresponding FUD will follow and bitcoin price may crash much further than just 5%-7%.

Bitcoin would recover, but not fast. I agree that it would recover since its decentralized nature doesn't give Satoshi total control over the network and dumping his coins would only see the MC drop a little, but the negative impact of such sales would be felt for a while.

Not only guess about bitcoins of Satoshi Nakamoto but bitcoins of the other people or companies too. We never know the exact figures one person or one company has if there is no public post or report about an address.

Bitcoin is magic in a way that with one wallet, there are many addresses, and people or companies are free to create and use as many wallets and addresses if they want. It's impossible to find Satoshi Nakamoto's wallets and addresses accurately so the task of identifying his bitcoins is impossible too.

Some people will feel fearful by reading news, fuds on social media, and market reactions. It will be somewhat similar reactions like how they do with Whale alerts about very old Bitcoin addresses have transactions but with Satoshi Nakamoto news, it can be bigger effects.

But the more interesting thing is there are people and companies will feel excited because they see it as great opportunity to buy cheaper bitcoins when market has fuds, market has crashes. They know that such market movements are only short term and the market will recover, have bull run after all.

There is only one Bitcoin market but there are many companies and people, who are intelligent will be able to take advantage of great opportunities for accumulation, and get richer later.

"Be greedy when the others are fearful", be prepared and do it if Satoshi Nakamoto moves his bitcoins.

Satoshi may have already sold his Bitcoin from addresses that we don't know and don't even imagine are his wallets. But if satoshi sells bitcoin from the bitcoin addresses that everyone already thinks are Satoshi's addresses then at first we will definitely see a big dump.

But when he sells all of his Bitcoin there will be a positive reaction and a negative reaction from the public. The positive reaction is that since Satoshi doesn't hold Bitcoin anymore investors will have no more fear of the price going down because of Satoshi selling Bitcoin.

And the negative side is that since the founder is selling his Bitcoin the public will think that Bitcoin has no future anymore.

If Satoshi were to become active and withdraw his remaining 1.1 million bitcoins and sell them on the market and it may could have a temporary impact on the market. But it is also important to remember that Bitcoin is decentralized, so the amount of bitcoins that Satoshi sells on the market will be decentralized and distributed to millions of investors. If he were to sell all his bitcoins, the market price might drop for a few days, but when all his bitcoins are sold, the market will return to normal.

If Satoshi were to become active and withdraw his remaining 1.1 million bitcoins and sell them on the market, it could have a temporary impact on the market.
Some people are fearful about such scenario but with a person like Satoshi Nakamoto, very well minded, very careful, if he want to sell bitcoin, he will not do it all within a day or a week. There is no smart reason to do that, so if he sells bitcoin, he will do it in a long time and reduce a lot of effects on the market.

Even the assumption that if Satoshi Nakamoto sells bitcoin, he will sell all 1.1M bitcoins, it's unrealistic too. He does not need such huge money so there is no reason to sell al 1.1M bitcoins. If people think like this, they will have much less fear because if there is a possibility of selling, Satoshi Nakamoto will sell only small part of that 1.1M bitcoin fortune.

Exactly Bitcoin is a community driven assets . So the fate of bitcoin doesn’t rest  in the hands of one person  , even satoshi himself doesn’t buy the idea , that’s he has no control of Bitcoin today . That’s the beauty of decentralization, and one of the things that makes Bitcoin so interesting . Some projects built on blockchain but are still controlled or operated by third parties. Though it bitcoin price will affected to some extent , due to some factors like panic selling and the amount of bitcoin being sold. But as long the community are still there to utilize bitcoin, it will surely bounce back stronger.

If Satoshi Nakamoto moves those 1.1 million Bitcoins,
With the current Bitcoin price of 1.1 million Bitcoin is not a small number, it is a fantastic number, different if Satoshi moved it in 2010, if Satoshi did it now the whole global crypto market could experience shocks and there would be liquidity shortages. extreme, because large market liquidity may not be able to absorb the transfer volume of 1.1 million Bitcoins owned by Satoshi Nakamoto.

Investors, institutions, companies will automatically panic, Bitcoin prices can experience a dramatic drop in a very short time, if Satoshi Nakamoto did it I'm sure the global crypto market doesn't have enough money to overcome that problem/buy it would really be the worst phenomenon in the history of the crypto world if that happened, but I don't think it would have been done by Satoshi Nakamoto.

Bitcoin would remain Bitcoin just that some people would panic as usual which is normal when they enter fear, i don't think I'll have any reason to fear if he moves his Bitcoin cause he might be moving it to a safer wallet based on the hacks and quantum threats. I know that in the future there would be wallets created to perfectly withstand those kind of threats and it they're tested and trusted why won't Satoshi move his Bitcoin to a safer wallet. There's no need to entertain fear if he's not selling for another asset.

Let me change it a bit to...
What Would Happen If Satoshi Nakamoto Moved and Sell His Bitcoins?

This is what I imagine if it really happens. The market will be shaken hard. FUD everywhere. The market will be divided into 2 sides. The first one is people who will think it's the end of Bitcoin. Time to sell everything and jump to other big coins like Ethereum, other altcoins, or even other investment instruments.

The second group is people who see it as good and healthy for Bitcoin because one big wallet is gone. No more of the same FUD related to Satoshi. Bitcoin will be more distributed, more decentralized than before. In this group, I am thinking of OG and Maxi.

The next question would be, will it make the BTC price go down hard? IMO, yes in the beginning, but in the end, the BTC price will slowly rise again, considering there are many big institutions and countries involved, which I think will try hard to back it up. They surely don't want their holdings to go down to zero easily. They will strengthen the narrative everywhere. It will also make retail more confident in the end, and the Bitcoin community and price will become stronger than before.

It's high time we realised that bitcoin is now bigger than its creator Satoshi Nakamoto. If he moves his 1.1 million bitcoins plus the ones in his other wallets will it cause an uproar? YES it will but that will never signal the end of bitcoin.

In June 2026, the price of bitcoin fell below $60k which was reported that about $1 trillion was lost from when the price had the ATH of $126k but you see how the price still manage to recover a bit.

Going by the current price of Bitcoin at $83,000, Satoshi's 1.1 million Bitcoins is worth $91.3 billion. If that amount is liquidated in the market do you think it will really have that much impact like when the market lost about a trillion dollars?
