OP, probably not all posts in that board fits standard of Serious discussion, but when it's more or less dead board, I don't see problem there.
It does not convince me.

Years ago, merit exchanges were considered as not important because there was thinking like merit dark markets will die quickly after smerit from airdropped merits all used, and people will not be able to get merits easily, then have smerits abundantly to sell.

Years later, we have all witnessed what happened.

Issues if know, reported need to be taken action as fastest as possible, to prevent it growing further and becoming worse. It's my stance on how we detect issues, have proper moderation approaches against issues, and avoid unnecessary burden of moderation tasks later.

I honestly have never visited that section of the forum.

But I went there now to look in more detail and the question came to mind: What would a discussion be like?
Because, looking only at the topic titles, on the first page I only saw 2 or 3 topics that might be interesting to explore.

I got the impression that those who use this section of the forum are people who want to share some thoughts and know they won't be bothered, since it's a less visited space.

But perhaps I'm not seeing things clearly.

You don't remember that the board exist because you haven't got any serious thing to discuss lol
Maybe I have no serious things to discuss, or maybe I just can't talk to myself. It's difficult to have conversation when in whole board there is like 10 posts made in full month.

Yea this should have been expected right from the beginning.  The major reason is because all these topics have dedicated boards and people are posting there so their posts can be counted as part of their weekly post quota. I guess they don't want to waste their time on a board that has no monetary incentive  Grin.  Maybe things will change later if a specific topic or topics is/are assigned to the board; i mean topics that don't fit into any of the already existing boards, then first, we will see less spam threads and people may somehow find interest in the board again.
Idea wasn't bad - to have honest quality discussion without signature spam. When this board was created, forum quality was in all time low and merit system was only fresh thing. But eventually it appears that this board isn't that much needed as it was thought initially.

Issues if know, reported need to be taken action as fastest as possible, to prevent it growing further and becoming worse. It's my stance on how we detect issues, have proper moderation approaches against issues, and avoid unnecessary burden of moderation tasks later.
Maybe you're right...
