Back in the days, marriage should to be the final and unquestionable destination of adulthood. You grew up, get a job, find a suitable partner, get married, buy or build House and have kids. That was the standard playbook. Today,  however, many people feels that marriage has lost its credibility, meaning it's no longer holds the same respect, necessities, or authority as a reliable social institution.

For generations, marriage stood as the ultimate milestone of adulthood, a permanent and unquestioned institution, signaled stability, maturity, and social acceptance. To question marriage was to question natural order of life, that narrative has shifted today, across the world, marriage rate are declining, cohabitation is risen rapidly,  and so many people are questioning the traditional legal union, if it still makes sense or weather it was the best form of marriage. In this generation marriage has lost much of its formal credibility, transitioning from a mandatory social  foundation to a costly, high risk option.

The primary driver behind this is economic independence and individual choice. From the history, marriage served as economic necessity, particularly for women, who were systematically excluded from financial and professional spheres. A marriage license provides financial security, housing and societal standing. Furthermore, the legal and financial structures around marriage have alienated many young adults. Many Morden weddings have evolved and advanced into expensive cultural spectacles that often requires immense financial strain. The legal reality of marriage carries significant risks. Divorced has become the new trend. This Younger generations have witnessed the emotional and financial devastation that oftentimes accompany a breakup. So this generation now view marriage as an unnecessary contract that complicates relationships and exposes both parties to legal liabilities. In the past eras, living together before marriage wasn't accepted or advice, it carries instanse social stigma. But today, cohabitation, long term non marital partnerships and co parenting are widely accepted and acknowledged.

Lastly I will say, marriage has lost its credibility doesn't mean love or long term commitment have lost their values, rather, I mean that society no long views a government backed legal contract as the only, or even the best proof of successful marriage, because this generation prioritize personal freedom, financial prudence and authentic partnership over social tradition.
