Depends on hardware wallet.

I have habit in updating my on-the-go Tangem wallet on  regular basis, but my Passport Core which holds my major stash is rarely updated because I don't use it frequently, as it's designed for long-term storage. For instance, it was on version 2.3.5 for more than 8 months, even after the latest 2.3.11 release appeared. Being fast about this isn't always the good thing. For example, back then those who were in hurry to update to 2.3.2 ended up with frozen devices because 2.3.2 contained the relevant bug.

It’s good that you are aware of the verification aspect. Waiting period shouldn’t be attached to a x period though, a month isn’t really that bad but just stay up-to-date with discussions, you may need to update early.. and don’t be behind too much.
They're nothing wrong cruising an old software or firmware so long you are sure that particular version is not having any major risk issues or exploitable bugs as the case may be. Sometimes people compromise their totally Safe devices in the process of trying to update it.
Yup.. that’s why I said no attaching to X period.. so far there’s no urgency need to update just to neutralize any possible threat.

Doesn’t matter how long but they shouldn’t be too behind before updating. If they stay too long, existing threat can also catch up if there’re any .. each side may have  it own disadvantage anyway .

Depends on the context even if I do agree. Sometimes the future bugs we battle with come from the user experience or UX for short we try to improve so most of the time these bugs are not really backwards compatible.

Literally what I'm trying to say is as time passes we add extra features and that is where the bigs usually come from which means an absence of that update also means the bug will be absent too.. not for basically all bugs but for most of them so having an old one is kinda less harmful.
