There was a time when ODI cricket was really interesting and it was a true contest between bat and ball. Introducing the two-new-balls rule killed reverse swing, and allowing only two fielders outside the circle in the first powerplay and only four in the second powerplay literally killed any meaningful strategies. Today, even 405 runs can be chased easily.
For a while, I thought T20 had killed my interest in ODIs, or that my age had created that thought process. But then again, the flat tracks and the rule changes are the real culprits, because I still find Test matches interesting due to the real contest between bat and ball.
