Renaming AI as SI

So much renaming...  SI, Lake of America.  It's going to take a second to get used to this new reality.

Trump just want to be remembered about the least of everything that went on during his regime, that was the last point he rose during his speech at the Un, and ended it with, lets see if I have the power to change the name from AI to SI, he could do that with the media, not with the Computer Scientists.

What does Trump has to do with Slovenian domain? But AI development has let Anguilla made a lot of money from people that are creating .ai domain in a way that it significantly contributes to the country's economy and made up of most non taxable revenue for the government. I do not think Trump even knows this, not to talk of knowing about the .si.

Whatever, what I know is that whether the name of the computer systems remains AI, SI or whatsoever, the fact remains that the technology of the system does exceedingly beyond human capacity.
Everyone knows it's a designated tool to perform extraordinarily computational tasks.
So changing the name of the technology won't change the narrative while I suspects there's something not revealed why Donald Trump would want to spend the energy and resources on such renaming a project that the current name even seem perfect even better than the proposed SI.

Maybe AI should still remain in use while we should apply SI as an advance AI improvised technology like that which operate with quantum and other technologies serving as an improvement over AI.

So I don't expect the renaming instead we should wait to see more advanced technologies that will have more better features than what AI could do and give them the super intelligence technology.

I believe the name should be the least issue people should worry about here, but rather the level of capability that the technology actually reaches. AI is doing just fine and doing its job pretty well, but there are actually stuffs that AI can’t do, so I also buy the idea of AI being allowed to exist and then let SI take care of those stuffs that are beyond AI capabilities and reasoning, learning and problem solving, that would way more effective than just  simply giving the old or existing AI models a new name.

I have known about artificial intelligence since my childhood days doing computer science, and now he wants to rename that to super intelligence? Wonders never cease to amuse me. Maybe what they could have done would have been to give the next generation of artificial intelligence a much fancier name and just let the current things be as they are.

There are things that would be very hard to, especially when those things are universally accepted. Take for instance, people still call "X" as twitter and that might likely continue until the generation that knew when it was called twitter all pass.

But for AI and SI, even if it's changed, it's definitely not going to be universally accepted or used. That will be introducing a new phrase to the dictionary and erasing AI totally.

Well, at least China and other countries will still call it AI in their languages.

I don't know the motive behind why he wants to renamed Al to SI,  but I don't think changing the name alone would make any meaningful difference. IMO, what should matters more is how the technology is developed, controlled and used, if Donald Trump is going to be remembered for anything, it should be because of the polices and decisions he made during his time in office rather than simply he changed the name of a technology.

AI to SI what does it mean? Only Trump's desire to change to another name "SI". Some news say AI is no longer described as a developing technology, this is just a reason that does not make sense to me, but it could be wrong in writing the articles we read, but this perception for me is too complicated.

Whatever the name is I don't Care, Indeed AI is being developed more in the country and Trump as a government has the right to change the name, this is not strange, because for me it is too much.

But the way he talked about changing AI to SI (Super Intelligence) is somehow as if AI is not fit for it. Is it necessary to change the name?

I think Trump is doing all things that will not make his name to be forgotten. Politically I have noticed this about him.

Trumps seems to like Changing names but I don't think AI has advanced enough to be called SI yet, I'd like to have a self thinking, self moving and self charging humanoid or robot be called SI.

Allegedly, immediately after the announcement of the news, interest in the Slovenian domain exploded. It would be interesting to find out if any interesting domains were registered in Slovenia in the days/weeks before this announcement.

The current name has never been a problem to the evolving of Artificial intelligence so it wouldn't also affect the magnitude they would want to go with it in the future, so to me is not necessary and besides is a name we are already use to, so I'm surprised Donald Trump would even call those people for a meeting to discuss about replacing the name, perhaps you are right that his intentions could be written himself as a president or someone who is the reason why Artificial intelligence was changed to super Intelligence. Well whatever name they decide definitely people will still get use to it.

The Department of Defense became the Department of War.
The US Institute of Peace was renamed after Trump.
The Kennedy Center became the Trump Kennedy Center.
Lake Ontario changed to Lake America.
And now AI gets swapped to SI.

Guess we will see a few more changes before his term is over, with another two years to go.

Let's not even get into his economic and political achievements yet, but one thing's for sure, a lot of people are probably gonna remember him for these weird and kinda eccentric changes. LOL.

I personally don't see a reason for all this. If the discussion was primarily about examining how AI can be made safe for humanity, then I don't think making changes to how it has been addressed can solve anything, and neither does it in any way regulate how these companies strive to create the next thing that might possess the same harm that we're trying to avoid. Considering the fact that It's something outside human intelligence, Artificial sounds way much better and natural if you ask me.

Well, i just want to believe that he's only making a suggestion and not a decision to influence/enforce the change... but Trump can be unpredictable sometimes, so I won't be surprised if it's the other way.
