A coin mined by trading.HYPOW uses trading volume instead of hashing to distribute new coins. The idea is simple: traders can mine through activity they already do. There is no special hardware to buy and no allocation set aside for anyone.
Every cent of trading volume is one lottery ticket for the next block. A winning ticket mints the block reward. This is Proof-of-Trade.
Why tradingNo ASICs, no GPUs, no mining power bills. Trading fees are the cost of mining.
Volume can't be faked. The exchange measures it, not the miner.
Your odds are proportional to your volume. A small trader gets a small share of the tickets. Splitting the same volume across more addresses gives no advantage.
Trading with yourself counts too. It costs fees on both sides. Those fees pay for your chances, much as electricity pays for chances in Bitcoin mining. There is no extra edge per dollar.
The reward for each block is fixed by the emission curve. More volume buys better odds, not a bigger reward.
Who picks the winnerEach draw uses drand, a public randomness beacon. Tickets commit to a future round before its randomness is published. The contract verifies the beacon's signature on chain.
Nobody can know the winner in advance or choose one.
Where it runsHYPOW runs on HyperEVM, Hyperliquid's chain. Hyperliquid is an exchange for perpetual futures, usually called perps.
The contract reads traders' perp positions directly from the exchange. It never routes trades or holds funds. Traders keep trading as usual. Only perps count, not spot.
IssuanceLike Bitcoin:
- No premine or allocation. Every coin is a block reward.
- Difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks, by at most 4x up or down.
Different from Bitcoin:
- The block target is one minute instead of ten.
- The cap is 21,000,000,000 coins.
- The reward decays smoothly, with no step halvings. It halves about every 2.2 years.
- If a difficulty window takes over four times its target duration, about 5.6 days, the next block cuts difficulty by 4x. This extra rule prevents mining from freezing.
No creator controlsThe contract is immutable. There is no owner, no admin, no upgrade and no pause. I have no control over it.
Where it standsMining started on 29 September 2026 at a difficulty of one cent of volume per block.
About 0.78% of the total coins have been mined so far. I mined them, starting from the first block, the same way anyone could. There is no other allocation.
There is no market for HYPOW. I won't create one, and I won't discuss price.
