Just like every assets that we have in the market, Bitcoin is a way to make money. Take note that I say make money and not to get rich, because it's not that easy as others might have projected it. Maybe if we are one of those early birds and then we did hold our Bitcoin since the beginning then we could be wealthy by now.

But most of us here are to make profits every cycle and to maximize it. Of course, we can look at it as a way to disrupt the control of the government. But it might not the only reason though why we are here. Everyone wanted to take profit and make money, simple as that.

Bitcoin is a blockchain that is decentralized, censorship-resistant, strongly secure, no reversible, and together with Bitcoin non-custodial wallets give us our full control, our own bitcoin banks. With such things, if we practice rightly, governments can not freeze our bitcoins, except if they don't have a law enforcement to arrest us and seize our bitcoins.

Getting rich is the bonus I guess, Bitcoin is deflationary so the price appreciate yet Bitcoin being decentralized and not controlled by centralized entity let us escape the system including tyrannical government to secure our wealth beyond their grasps.

I prefer to say that both getting rich and escaping the system comes bundled when you invest and store your Bitcoin in self custody, so it's not choose one miss the other because that's false dichotomy, you get best of both worlds therefore this shouldn't even be a question.

It can easily be both. Bitcoin lets us escape the system. That's provided by its features. As a bonus, it could also make us rich. The world doesn't run out of greater fools to buy the system's native currency at a much higher price.

By the way, we've all been warned not to treat Bitcoin as a get-rich-quick scheme, the same advice I give to anybody who's contemplating on investing in it, but the truth of the matter is, if you aren't weak and buy when blood is all over the charts, your money could easily double in just a year.

The latter was a more common idea in the past. But these days, how are you going to escape the system if KYC is required everywhere? If you want to spend a significant amount of bitcoin, you’ll have to convert it to fiat, and to do that you’ll have to go through KYC and prove its origin – so you’re not escaping the system at all. Opportunities to buy and sell Bitcoin directly in exchange for goods and services are so few and far between that they’re practically non-existent. Even Bitcoin ATMs, which used to be KYC-free or had high limits in the past, now require KYC for any amount. Countries that used to welcome you and your Bitcoin with open arms, such as Dubai, changed their policy a few years ago.

So the only thing left is the prospect of getting rich, and even then, the returns we can expect are clearly lower than those of the first decade.

These are actually two different reasons for using bitcoin rather than two sides of the same investment thesis. People value bitcoin for what it lets them do with their money regardless of price, at the same time they also hold bitcoin cause they expect it to appreciate. BTC going up or down doesn’t necessarily make self custody, permissionless transfer, and resistance to someone else freezing your funds any less useful.
That’s also why bitcoins limited supply shouldn’t be equated with guaranteed wealth creation, while scarcity can definitely support a monetary asset, price appreciation still generally depends on demand!

One can become interested in bitcoin primarily as a way of having significant control over their money without the objective of “getting rich” so to say…. The two can overlap but I don’t think one is required for the other.

Lets take a break from the financial aspect and go towards this direction, Bitcoin didn't only take out traditional paper money, it's here to make away with all of the control people had over systems that required paper to process. Take for instance, what followmyvotes, a company in US, is doing with the blockchain, their goal is to eradicate paper based polling. Across the world its questionable how unfair the system has grown over the decades. With Bitcoin, centralized bodies will go out of the way, people's votes will go through decentralized system that guarantees 100% security protection and non-repudiation.

To be frank, you could have all the profits investing in bitcoin, with a rigged system, you're not free.

I think it can be both, but it depends on the person. For some, Bitcoin is an investment; for others, it represents financial sovereignty and an alternative to traditional systems. The interesting part is that you don't necessarily have to choose one view over the other.

I wouldn't call it "getting rich", it is mostly about making some profit as it is with all Store of Values; and it was never the main reason for me.

In fact "making money" never motivated me to get into Bitcoin.
The first time I heard of it was in 2012-2013 where on of my friends introduced me to Bitcoin by telling me about how one could use PC to mine it and earn some money by selling the block reward. That never interested me.
A while later, in 2014, I stumbled upon a post about how you could use this censorship resistant payment system to pay for stuff (like buying games on Steam). That got me interested and as you can see from my "Date Registered" date, I entered this world in 2014.

That's what interested me. The "profit" is the icing on the cake for me not the cake itself!

I don't expect to get rich... I hold some just because, in case something crazy happens, I won't be left out.  Maybe Btc does another one of those x10 runs, yes it is unlikely but I will benefit from it since I hold some. or maybe the thole financial system goes down and btc and gold become the survivors. Unlikely, but not impossible. There are all kind of different possibilities in finance and btc is a hedge against some of those bad ones. If btc goes to zero? I only lose the amount I currently hodl which is nowhere near harming me and my finances.

Both. The financial system was designed to make the rich richer and the banks to hold people's money. While with bitcoin, it's both. We can hold our own money and it's a way to distribute the wealth of the world. But for someone who think that it's only about getting rich with it, I hope that it's not the other side that we're thinking about being introduced into it through the ponzis and other scams. With bitcoin as a deflationary asset, it's a way too to battle against inflation.

Why not both? I don't see a contradiction between someone wanting to get rich and also trying to stay independent from the current fiat financial system. Can you give us an example how the mainstream financial system secretly manipulates us? There were numerous posts made by random forum users about the "crypto whales" manipulating the cryptocurrency markets. I think that the crypto industry isn't fully protected from control and manipulation. The best thing we could do is to keep our coins in cold wallets and stay away from all centralized services, no matter crypto or fiat.

As for me investing not trading.. I'm more successful with investing as i find it the best way to be rich,(but sadly I'm not rich but Bitcoin help me a lot).
We just trust the process because if we are doing long term hold here definitely our future will be better.

Good point, that word " manipulated" seem very attach to what government are doing.
However, the good news, although bitcoin is already regulated but they cannot touch the system, blockchain is there, we can still transact without them knowing ( unless they investigate using chain analysis). But for regular transactions, we are not public to them.

As for me investing not trading.. I'm more successful with investing as i find it the best way to be rich,(but sadly I'm not rich but Bitcoin help me a lot).

I'm also in favor of investing but we can't deny that there are people who also become better with trading and that's how they're able to reach their better financial status.

While we can't be said of being rich but at least we've got a better life thanks to bitcoin and everyone can agree with.

I'll remove that one if you ask me because you can't certainly get rich in trading, and not on investing as well, but your chances of getting rich in investing is way higher than that of trading. There's no need for further explanation to that one. If you're in the crypto space for a long time, you know that Bitcoin and crypto in general isn't a get-rich-quick type of investment. Sure you can change your life overnight with meme coins, but what are the chances of that to happen to you? Less than a percent.

As for the 2nd question, I didn't even think for a second that Bitcoin is being used by the authority to make us controlled and secretly manipulated. I mean at least for now, there are no signs that it's happening, but who knows? If the authorities have plans on doing it, we should've seen some signs already that they're doing it, but is there any? I don't think so and for that reason, I don't think that it will be that way.

Bitcoin's not all about getting rich though. I guess it's all about "beating the inflation", and "achieving financial freedom at an earlier age". There are many factors though, but you got what I mean.
