Honestly It’s Both for me I won’t lie. I kind of value privacy and I found bitcoin that could provide me with that privacy while I make my transactions. Along the line I discover it’s also preserves value, so I couldn’t let that opportunity slide. I don't see any controlled or we are secretly manipulated here. It's just that people are depended on government and how society are build. You go to school, after that, go find a job and that's it. You became a slave to this corporate world. But Bitcoin might have chance it since it's inception although that is not what Satoshi envision when he created it in the beginning. It was more of a P2P without any middleman. It's just that Bitcoin has evolved and became an asset that we all love right now.

I've never been in bitcoin so that I can get rich. Not now, not in 10 years, and not in 100 years. This doesn't mean that if I accumulate and hold bitcoin for 100 years it cannot make me rich, but that is not why I hold it.

I think if you already understand Satoshi's purpose in creating Bitcoin, you should already know that Bitcoin was created to be a decentralized, transparent, and secure currency. To elaborate, Satoshi created Bitcoin so it could be used for peer-to-peer transactions without any third party involvement. So, the point isn't just whether Bitcoin can make us rich it's not just about that. The idea that Bitcoin can make someone rich is clearly not the main point.

While it's true that many people invest in Bitcoin to make a profit, that's clearly not the main purpose of Bitcoin's creation. If I'm not mistaken, Bitcoin was also designed to improve the payment system, and it's also clearly very useful as a store of value. Its proven price, which continues to rise in each cycle, makes Bitcoin an excellent store of value. So yes, Bitcoin wasn't created simply to create a money-printing machine or make people rich. Years ago, 2018, 2022, and now in 2026 towards the future, people got and will still get opportunities of getting richer with Bitcoin. It's only no longer possible to become millionaires or billionaries with $100, $1,000 or $10,000 investment in Bitcoin like early Bitcoin investors actually got.

Now towards the future, if we can invest our money in bitcoin, accumulate it gradually over time, hold our bitcoin securely and tightly over a long time, getting rich is almost guaranteed achievement we will get. I say almost because there is still very small chance for something terrible but I believe it won't come.

I wouldn't call it "getting rich", it is mostly about making some profit as it is with all Store of Values; and it was never the main reason for me.

In fact "making money" never motivated me to get into Bitcoin.
The first time I heard of it was in 2012-2013 where on of my friends introduced me to Bitcoin by telling me about how one could use PC to mine it and earn some money by selling the block reward. That never interested me.
A while later, in 2014, I stumbled upon a post about how you could use this censorship resistant payment system to pay for stuff (like buying games on Steam). That got me interested and as you can see from my "Date Registered" date, I entered this world in 2014.

That's what interested me. The "profit" is the icing on the cake for me not the cake itself!

People's location might have determined the reason why they got involved in Bitcoin. Those who live in countries where external financial restrictions exist would target Bitcoin to bypass these limitations.  

For those whose countries are going through economic problems, they will embrace Bitcoin for profit because they desperately need alternative sources of income.

My motivation was to gain freedom from the government and make a profit. The government of my country keeps placing financial restrictions, and I desperately wanted to bypass them. Bitcoin is doing the job perfectly. I wouldn't deny that Bitcoin has also been a financial blessing to many people, including myself.

Basically you can become rich when it comes to crypto space if you know how to find a good project with alts, also you can do spot trading at the same time with the top 10 coins if you wanted to make play safe well bitcoin is the safe haven at all, but you need to consider too that this requires a capital you cant earn i ncrypto space with trading, investing, staking, airdrops and other form with just a capital so now this is the time where you will make sure you wont lose your money, having a proper risk management is a must or else you will give away your money to the other people in an instant.

There are misconceptions here people seen crypto as an instant money like gambling but no because this is not just simply buying only consider the market trend, demand, and more to become profitable in this.

Bitcoin investment is a slow, reliable and sustainable way to create valuable digital assets. Some people make the mistake of considering it as a means to get rich in a short time. Bitcoin is not primarily for trading, but it is a strategy to build wealth without taking too much risk. Since many of us are not familiar with the long term process, it may not seem easy at first, but start accumulation Bitcoin through discretionary income and you will see that it has become an easy investment.

You've just reiterated my points. Like i said, making good returns from BTC is very possible, but i am talking about getting rich through BTC without already having a lot of money, which was possible in the early days, when you could even mine BTC on your computer.

However, i understand that it could be hard to measure what it means to be 'rich' in different individuals. But i feel that in order to make a lot of money from BTC right now, you would already have a lot of money to invest, and you're basically just getting richer.

Quite an interesting question. Well, let's start with the whole idea of 'getting rich'. Of course, I agree that a lot of people tend to look at it from that angle, but personally, I think a phrase like that sounds too broad in describing a general motive for investing in Bitcoin. What I personally prefer to use is simply 'profits', because at the end of the day, every investor_{(whether whales or retail)} should be able to find themselves on a positive side as long as they stick to what leaves people with profit.

Now, regarding the question you asked... Well, I think Bitcoin has proven to be very helpful in both areas, and not just profit-related alone. Afaik, inflation and devaluation of fiat have practically been some of the biggest downside of every system of government.. and you find people who are not enlightened, struggling to earn the same fiat and also save it for the future. And nothing beats holding on to an electronic cash system that you have full control over, where you can decide where and when you want to spend it without having to state your purpose in a long written letter to any institution.

It depends on the individual, because some people only invest in Bitcoin with the goal of making a profit later on, but they don't really care about self-custody, since they put their Bitcoin on centralized platforms where they're completely controlled by a third party. There are also those who do both, choosing self-custody so they can achieve financial freedom while at the same time accumulating Bitcoin to build their wealth in the long run.
