Of recent flood has covered some part anf states in Nigeria and am talking based on my own experiences Port Harcourt and other areas of Rivers State and this has caused so many damages and is not just about a damaged house but it actually mean a like loss of phones, documents, cash, vehicles and other belongings that took years to build. And of recent it happen to a friend of mine so close we haven’t talked to each other for days now and it got me worried it’s a unlikely him even tho we don’t call each other in a day we must chat on whatapp, suddenly yesterday I saw a message on my tik tok handle and I replied and was asking this is unlike him we don’t chat on tik tok rather we prefer WhatsApp and then he sent his new number and I called then narrated how he lost his device in the recent flood incident in his place of residence and this is the most painful part he is someone o know very well and he doesn’t keep any of his finincial assets in his local bank account all is funds are stored in bitcoin, in his blue wallet to be presided and according to him his phone and laptop is wiped out by this sudden unexpected flood and currently he’s stranded because he did not write down the seed phrase while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop and this is where my question comes in
If you were the one in tbis situation what do you think is the next step to do to recover your account? And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets? Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.

He can't And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?
There is no way I am going to have my net worth 100% in Bitcoin if that's what you mean. Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
There is no solution. His phone and laptop are damaged and he never wrote down the seeds, so he's lost what he had in Bitcoin for good. The only thing he can do is to learn the lesson and don't repeat the same mistake in the future, like diversify and also write down seeds and store them where they can't be taken away by the flood or burned or stolen.

With bitcoin, use wallets, best are open source non custodial wallets. Don't use exchange accounts to store your bitcoin. Reminder: do not keep your money in online accountsEvents made you scare about custodial wallets, centralized exchanges.Wallet backups need to do before incidents, not after. It's unsure that your story is real experience, not fiction.

He really made mistakes. Why should him not backup the seed phrase somewhere? I thought you will say that the flood took away the backup, but he has no backup than the wallet on his phone and laptop. That is not good at all.
I backup my seed phrase in two places and I backup another in my memory which makes it three backup places and the reason it is called mnemonic.

Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
OP, let's be honest: Did you make up this story yourself? A newbie arrives and in the second message tells how his friend incorrectly approached the storage of the seed phrase. But if you read your very first post, you can see that you are well versed in cryptocurrencies. And since you're on the topic, you should understand how important it is to store the seed phrase as securely and responsibly as possible, especially considering the risks of natural disasters in certain regions. I think you knew that, so why didn't you teach your friend (if you imagine the real situation)?🤷♀️ Am new to this platform but am familiar to bitcoin and can relate in cases like this have been into bitcoin for a while now and I can understand that it has gives us control over our money....
I think, the answer is pretty damn obvious: a friend will have to accept the loss, and you, OP, should stop creating new accounts every time another detective story comes to mind.

If you were the one in tbis situation what do you think is the next step to do to recover your account?
If you encounter this situation, it is never possible to recover the account. If your friend does not write down the wallet seed phrase somewhere, then it is never possible to recover the Bitcoin. If you ever lose the wallet seed phrase or it is destroyed by fire or water and if you do not save the backup seed phrase well, you will lose your entire life's wealth and will not be under your control. Therefore, keeping in mind natural disasters, it is very important for every investor to be aware of this and save the wallet seed phrase in such a way that it does not get damaged or lost by fire or water. This is a very big mistake that will teach your friend a lesson, it is very important to keep an eye on it so that such a mistake does not happen in the future. Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
I would never invest all my money in Bitcoin because investing all my money in one place is very risky, so it is very important to have diversification in investments, which reduces investment risk and increases the potential for profit.

It's not his second post, there are two other posts deleted by forum moderators. https://bitlist.co/search?author=Sir%20Smart&limit=20Gooday everyone,
I am a new member of this forum and this is one of my first posts here tho I have an idea about what the forum is all about and I have basic understanding about Bitcoin for some time now, and am not actually a new person when it comes to bitcoin, but I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to the deeper parts of the Bitcoin. And one of the reasons I joined this platform because is to get more knowledge about bitcoin so am curious and would love to know for those who have been in this forum for a long time now, what is one thing you wish you understood earlier when you were just starting?
And what area do you think I should focus on in other to grown in this forum as a beginner?
I recently joined this forum and i m still trying to find my way around here tho am not a new person when it comes to bitcoin i already have basic knowledge about bitcoin and have been in the system for a while now even tho I don’t know everything about bitcoin. I would love to ask the members of this forum who have been here for a while. Where and where did you focus on in this forum in other to grow to this extent?
what is one thing you wish you understood earlier when you were just starting?
And what is that one mistake you made while starting in this forum? Just curious to know so I can learn and won’t make mistakes.

So sad. Hope no lives was lost. Just hope the affected victims see where to cover their head again. this is the most painful part he is someone o know very well and he doesn’t keep any of his finincial assets in his local bank account all is funds are stored in bitcoin, in his blue wallet to be presided and according to him his phone and laptop is wiped out by this sudden unexpected flood and currently he’s stranded because he did not write down the seed phrase while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop and this is where my question comes in
Didn't that your friend know that it isn't proper saving important information of such on a cell phone? Or was he really thinking at all? As a matter of fact, screenshoting our seed phrase or any other information concerning our financial stuff could be very risky. Because you can not predict the next minute just as it has happened. He should take heart. This has already thought him better. If you were the one in tbis situation what do you think is the next step to do to recover your account?
There is nothing I can do to recover anything. Since I can't recall the past phrase not to talk of the seed phrase. However, this is why we are always told to engraved and save our details on a metal plate and store in a save and different location to avoid things like this. And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets? Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
Storing all our financial assets on bitcoin site, wallet or whatever isn't the bone of contention here. What is important is doing the right thing so that there wouldn't be a problem

Natural disasters is something that investor need have plans overboard, as an investor taken risk you don't need keep your security to you asset in one location if one lost garjet and happened to have lost everything it implies that such holder or investor in Bitcoin have not gotten knowledge while we seek safety for our investment we must also take precautions measure that will help secure your asset Incase of unknown circumstances like natural disasters, saving your key phrase only on garjet is not enough it's also good one copy it down, flood occurred in Port Harcourt but if one who losses garjet copy it's key phrase and keep either in well covered plastic or pet common called rubber it's hard that water will damage it mostly when it's kept on a very such as ceiling or any where above human height, this situation the garjet wouldn't be a problem,if I have all my details to login and get access to my asset, it's left for me to borrow and get another garjet and make use of my reserved fund or emergency fund except such investor have no plans of unforseen circumstances, reason been that natural disasters is bound to happen and some that no one can easily tell the magnitude to which it will happened.

You'd expect that if someone decides to go all in with BTC, they would at least do things well and not make a costly mistake in the most basic things. It is stupid to have all your funds in BTC without having a backup safely stored. As a matter of fact, you ought to have more than one backup in different locations, plus an extra layer of security, E.G. a passphrase or a multisig wallet. Doesn't even matter if your story is true or fabricated, because there are a lot of people like this: you can't screw things up yourself and then blame the network.

If he already lost access to where the seedphrase was stored, there is no where he can retrieve back that wallet. I’m sorry to say that their funds are lost forever without the seedphrase. And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?
Why not, after coming this far and understanding how bitcoin works. The doubt on the network is for those that have limited knowledge of the market or even have misconception about bitcoin. The bitcoin is safe for you if you play your own part well in keeping your security and privacy of utmost value to you. Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
There is no solution to this unless he can reviver that device or have access to the seedphrase if has it stored elsewhere.

First of all I always write down the seed phrase properly when opening a wallet. Although if your friend had written the seed phrase and just kept it at his home then the seed phrase would have been destroyed along with the flood. First you should properly check whether there is any chance of a flood in the area where you live. If there is a chance then a copy of the seed phrase should be kept in a good bank vault. Of course add a passphrase and do not keep the passphrase in the bank vault memorize it in your own head.
If your friend has a screenshot of the seed phrase on his phone then he maybe can recover that data through some data recovery expert. But if there is no backup then I don't think it would be easy to recover the wallet.

The deed has been done, if the story is actually true, but recovery can be done somehow supposing he still has the laptop or phones that was affected by flood. He could take it to a good technician that can restore the device or he could try to access his cloud accounts that may have backed up his data like the screenshot of his seed phrases. However one salient point is that Blue wallet don't store seed phrases on their servers nor have the ability to reset his password. He has a better chance of recovering his Bitcoin if he could recover the seed phrases, otherwise, it's lost and there's nothing to be done about it.

I don't want to comment on your friend's mistakes anymore, because he made a mistake from the beginning.
Normally, there is no chance of recovering your friend's bitcoins. However, since you say that your friend took a screenshot of the seed phrase and password, you can check it in (cloud account) Google Backup Manager. If Google Backup is enabled, there is a chance that those screenshots are automatically saved. Log in to that device's Google account on another device and try to find the screenshots, if you find them, then your friend is very lucky. If you don't find them, then your friend should accept the loss.

Story seems like a made up one, but seriously, it's a good scenario. The flood in Nepal was so disastrous that people lost everything, and those who were able to save their lives are just happy that they are alive. Losing smartphones and laptops in this is normal, and no matter if someone thinks it takes time for the flood to come and by that time we can take precautions, I have experienced it too.
I don't know how much flood there was in Nigeria, I did not hear of any news even. But here the flood warning was given weeks ago because it was a surge of water released from India into Pakistan, and it had to flow from top to down into the sea. Every area near the rivers was alerted and warned to leave, so in such a situation people left their houses and went to a safe place. But if a sudden flood had hit, then in such a situation we would not be able to do anything.
We can only take early security measures, like moving funds somewhere safe. Keeping them on an exchange can be a good thing even if it's against the self custody rule.

Then he sent his new number and I called then narrated how he lost his device in the recent flood incident in his place of residence
With all due respect OP, this story is cooked up. Before you think I'm just trying to attack you post, I also live in the area of Portharcourt that is affected by the recent flood. It is not as intense as you have stated in your post. The flood itself is as a result of Persistent torrential rainfall that has overwhelmed the drainage system of so many areas in Portharcourt. It doesn't occur instantly like a flash flood from mountainous region like that of Nepal, rather it develops gradually over some period of time. So you have all the whole time in the world to keep you important belonging safe once you notice the signs. Moreover, the max water level I have seen so far is not above the waist level of an average human. For example, this is are pictures of the developing stage and current stage of the flood in my room: Early warning sign Fully developed flood From my experience, I'd say it is pretty difficult to lose any of your belonging in this recent flood in Portharcourt, unless it is as a result of carelessness.

There is nothing your friend can do to retrieve back his wallet since, he didn't write down his seed phrase. How did he then enter his seed phrase on his wallet when creating it because electrum and other wallets must ask for it at the initial stage. If this is true, ignorant has cost his a lot.
I wouldn't find myself in such situation because I backed up my seed phrase. Can't he fix the phone in order to have access to his seed phrase. Self custody should be done the right way to avoid future losses.

I will never encourage anyone to invest all their money in Bitcoin because something like this can happen and it will make such person to start from zero level again, which is not the wish of Bitcoin investor. I believe some people will learn from this victim not to store their seeds phrase in one place because if such thing happen and you loss your phone, laptop and other documents in the incident, it will be difficult for you to recover your Bitcoin and other crypto.

There is no way I am going to have my net worth 100% in Bitcoin if that's what you mean.
The situation is not about trusting your entire net worth completely into Bitcoin, in this case his friend was not security conscious and actually set himself up for the present situation he is in right now. I understand you would like to diversify but if his friend has diversify he would still have lost all of his assets because he has already made the security mistake.
