The lesson to learn from this story especially for newbies because most of us that are experienced in this forum knows better is that your Bitcoin through your none custodial wallet is your personal responsibility, and if you lose your wallet device and lose your seed phrase your Bitcoin is gone forever. This is the price of your privacy and freedom, Bitcoin is decentralized meaning that there is no online or physical office that will help you to recover it when lost, anybody that is given you promises of recovery is just about to scam you. Better to secure your seed phrase in more than one location so that if you lose your wallet device and one source of your seed phrase you can still access your wallet with the other seed phrase that you can access.

~ he did not write down the seed phrase while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop and this is where my question comes in

Clearly, this was his biggest mistake.  No one should do that, as we have discussed it like a million times already.  A proper backup is the only safe solution in situations like this.

If you were the one in tbis situation what do you think is the next step to do to recover your account?

If there is access to his old laptop, there might be ways to recover data from the hard drive, even if it is permanently damaged.  It is worth consulting data recovery experts.

And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?

What do you mean by "bitcoin sites"?

Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
No solution can be given in this kind of situation, you narrated about your friend. Your friend started his crypto journey on the wrong side, he should learn his lesson the hard way.

If what Alvin_talk points out is the situation on the ground in Port Harcourt, that means your friend is not telling you the truth about his laptop and phone being wiped out by the flood because what can cause the situation you presented to us should be a heavy flood like that of Nepal, the ones that can bring down houses, not the ones where the flood is minor and has no gravity

... he did not write down the seed phrase while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop ...

As per my knowledge, if you don't have backup of your bitcoin wallet with you then there is no way you can recover your lost Bitcoins. Securing your seed on paper is the first step, we also have to make sure that seed is stored at different locations so that we can counter situations like the one OP has depicted. Many people take security of seed for granted till the time they need it for recovery of there bitcoins but its too late by then.

In case your assets are stored on some exchange then its a different case but if you lost the device on which your wallet is installed and you also don't have seed then its all over for you.

There is no way I am going to have my net worth 100% in Bitcoin if that's what you mean.
The situation is not about trusting your entire net worth completely into Bitcoin, in this case his friend was not security conscious and actually set himself up for the present situation he is in right now.
I understand you would like to diversify but if his friend has diversify he would still have lost all of his assets because he has already made the security mistake.

Let's believe the story is a made-up story first but if it happens to be true then the person in the situation has a lot of questions to answer because he can't be so careless with his security when he has everything in that asset. It is one thing to diversify your investment but being careless with security gdn still render all your efforts to nothing which is why it is good to learn more about security before thinking about investment in bitcoin or any other form of investment.

In order to avoid losing all your investment you can diversify and avoid having all your investment secured in one gadget. For example having seed phrase stored in a different place while you have other means of protecting other assets in a different place but if you don't have all this plans then just be ready to lose everything because you are not prepared to invest properly.

While creating his wallet you mean?.
Well, that's already a big problem to start with. Failing to writeup down a seed phrase that ought to be documented, and taking a screenshot of it are practically two things a person shouldn't do, and I believe most modern wallets don't allow users to take screenshots anyways.

The only thing to do is probably find ways to locate those missing devices.
And, I'm not entirely sure of how possible it is for a flood to come into someone's house and carry their devices away without wiping the entire house off the ground. It's not something I have experienced, so it's difficult to comprehend how that works. But, finding the device might just be the only way out... And not just finding, but also restoring them.

If his devices are damaged beyond repair and he could no longer access his seedphrase, I'm afraid, those bitcoins are gone.

I have been following the Nigerian flooding news happening in some parts of the country. The flooding is indeed bad in some areas, but I don't think anyone who uses metal backup will have any issues with the flooding. The flooding isn't sweeping valuables away, it only soaks, wets and damages them. Metal backup is resistant to water and even fire.

If you are living in Nigeria or any other country affected by flooding, this could be a sign for you to have multiple backups, store your seedphrase in different safe locations and in all you do, metal backup should be included.

Losing a device can actually be painful thing but losing access to your seed phrase is even much worse and if I were in his situation, the first thin I can think of right now is to recover the screenshot or any other backup of the seed phrase from icloud storage, thats if he uses snd iPhone email, or anywhere else where he may have saved it and f the seed phrase is completely gone and he has no other backup, the situation becomes very difficult and the password alone cannot recover a self custodial wallet because the seed phrase is the main recovery method. And talking about saving my entire assets in bitcoin i dont fear that because definitely my seed phase backup is something I can’t loose gaurd or trade tor any reason.

OP might just made this story but IMO there's a lesson that we can get from this. If there are newbies out there who haven't backed up your seeds, do it now!

And when to these disasters, I'm sure that it's broadcasted in the news if there's a typhoon or storm or surge warning or potential flooding in areas and that's why always be updated with the news of weather forecasts.

Because flooding right now can happen almost everywhere even in areas that are not being flooded before, it's possible to happen.

I can't be in such situations i know fully well that backup saved in a mobile phone where the wallet is it's not a backup, since it can get missing together with the phone. The best a guy can do is either search for the phone or forget about the fund stocked in that wallet forever.

I was even expecting a situation where the backup was written on a piece of paper or something gets carried by the flood or wet beyond saving, but it's a different case of someone who doesn't know the value of their money.

I don’t think he can recover his account, he also made a very mistake by not writing down his seed phrase, and he also made a big mistake by not having money in his local bank, how can someone not have money in his bank account? I have never see that kind of person, unless he did not spend his money, because in Nigeria that i know you buy things with fiat currency, you can’t be staying in Nigeria and think you can not use fiat currency in a day, because you will buy things and most people don’t accept bitcoin.

To get his account back is going to be difficult, because it looks like he did not remember anything or write the password down, if he is using an iPhone there is possibility he can get the account back, if he can remember his iCloud password, but it is not guaranteed because that is a long way that he don’t know if it is going to login without not stressing him.

We must take precautions to protect ourselves from various dangers and disasters. Where I live now, the risk of various natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, etc. is very low and although there is no possibility of such damage, I still keep my necessary things in a very safe place for my precaution and maximum security. I have invested in Bitcoin and I take maximum precautions to keep my Bitcoin safe and for that, of course I keep my Bitcoin wallet and Bitcoin wallet seed phrase very safe. I have not saved it in just one place, I have saved it in more than two places so that even if any unexpected incident happens, I can recover my Bitcoin. However, everyone should take safety and precautions from their own position.

Sorry about your friend and the flooding.
Natural disasters like this are brutal and it always wipe out a lot more than just gadgets.
Having said that, unfortunately the answer is straightforward. There is no way for your friend to recover the Bitcoin, I hope he can accept his lost, and never make the same mistake.

And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?

You don't need to trust any BTC site with your financial because what you need to self-custody but if you're talking about putting all my financial assets in BTC. My answer is no.
BTC is a good asset but diversification is always the ideal investment decision.

Of recent flood has covered some part anf states in Nigeria and am talking based on my own experiences Port Harcourt and other areas of Rivers State and this has caused so many damages and is not just about a damaged house but it actually mean a like loss of phones, documents, cash, vehicles and other belongings that took years to build. And of recent it happen to a friend of mine so close we haven’t talked to each other for days now and it got me worried it’s a unlikely him even tho we don’t call each other in a day we must chat on whatapp, suddenly yesterday I saw a message on my tik tok handle and I replied and was asking this is unlike him we don’t chat on tik tok rather we prefer WhatsApp and then he sent his new number and I called then narrated how he lost his device in the recent flood incident in his place of residence and this is the most painful part he is someone o know very well and he doesn’t keep any of his finincial assets in his local bank account all is funds are stored in bitcoin, in his blue wallet to be presided and according to him his phone and laptop is wiped out by this sudden unexpected flood and currently he’s stranded because he did not write down the seed phrase while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop and this is where my question comes in

The next step is regret and blame yourself for your stubbornness of not duplicating your seed phrase, your friend has stayed long in this forum to have accumulated and put all his savings in Bitcoin and yet fails to backup, with all the topics he has come across about seed phares back-up,he has learnt is lesson in a hard way, there is nothing to be done, lost forever.

It is not advicible to entrust all your financial asset in bitcoin or any exchange but if you must do that is only in Bitcoin you must have several backups in writeup, engraving both on woods, steels and metals, gadgets are not always safe for storing seed phrase what if the situation was not flooding but theft, how would you have recovered it.

These are part of the security measures we always talk about on how to protec and secure our Bitcoin.

Carrying all of those gadgets that contain the seeds with plastic in it as cover.
But that's more exhausting and that's why writing a backup of your seed is a must.
You don't get to carry all of your gadgets that contains it, you only have to bring with you your written seeds and runaway from that area.

And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?
No.
Cloud storage you mean or the exchange? if it's the latter, we saw the bitget hacking and other exchanges hack. Learn from those.

Firstly, he might have lost a significant amount in bitcoin or his holding in any other crypto but not really all because i don't believe anyone will have everything put in one basket even though its preached but however in this case the person in question already knows that he lost them all to the flood and will learn a hard lesson from it and and anyone around him will too. having a screenshot of your seedphrase is firstly a very red flag either the person have no real knowledge of crypto or is just cruising around with what they have in such hot wallet. you can't have something very significant and still have no real knowledge on how to preserve them, so am real skeptical about this case.

If you live in a region prone to flooding (or other natural disasters), should always be prepared for the possibility of a flood and plan for the worst-case scenario. At the very least, this means having a waterproof container, kept easily accessible, to store your most valuable items (such as cash, documents, and a backup phone with essential apps that mirror your primary device). This ensures that, should a flood occur, you can grab the container and quickly evacuate your home.

and he doesn’t keep any of his finincial assets in his local bank account
As you can see, keeping your money in a bank (or an exchange service - essentially, with a third party) is not always a bad decision; after all, they can safeguard your assets against factors (such as natural disasters) that you would be unable to protect against on your own.

all is funds are stored in bitcoin, in his blue wallet to be presided and according to him his phone and laptop is wiped out by this sudden unexpected flood
But what about risk diversification? Keeping all crypto assets in a single wallet? And in digital form only? Another problem could have arisen here, for instance, the failure of the storage media, which would have deprived your friend of access to his assets even without the flood.

and currently he’s stranded because he did not write down the seed phrase
This is the first rule taught when creating crypto wallets - a rule that, as you (and your friend) now realize, can't be ignored.

while creating his account he only has the screenshot of the seed phrase and password in his phone and laptop
Yet another unwise decision. It was only a matter of time before your friend lost access to the wallet. One way or another, given such negligent handling of the seed-phrase, he was bound to lose his assets - sooner or later.

If you were the one in tbis situation
I would have done everything to avoid ending up in this situation. That would have required making backups, multiple ones, given the specific risks of the region (such as flooding). For instance, keeping backups in a different region not prone to natural disasters. Even using online services, despite the criticism this option often receives, could have helped save the assets in this scenario.

Regarding the risk of flooding: water generally doesn't wash away the soil, especially the deeper layers. Therefore, to safeguard the seed-phrase (stored on a metal plate), could bury it near your home, using the house itself as a landmark, since a flood is unlikely to wash away the building's structure (assuming it is a brick house). Alternatively, you could bury it beneath the building's foundation. However, this is only advisable if the area around the house will not remain submerged for an extended period, such as in the event of a new reservoir being created, which would prevent access to the seed-phrase due to standing water over the burial site.

what do you think is the next step to do to recover your account?
In this case, there is zero chance. No backups were saved, and there is no access to them. All that remains is to acknowledge the loss and come to terms with it.

And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?
I might entrust a portion of my assets, but not all of it. And in such scenarios, I repeat, entrusting one's assets to third parties turns out to be far from the worst decision.

Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.
His problem has no solution.

Everyone is thinking in one direction and I will think the other way round. What if the guy is using this flood incident to beg for money and solicit support from people to help him because flood doesn't just come like an open tap, it is must have been raining and as the level of water rise up, he should know that his things are at risk. He didn't take anything on his pocket, let's say laptop can be pocketed, what about his phone on his pocket.

Some phones are water resistant unless he is using 2015 android phones, unless he swim in the flood and let his gadget to be flood in water. The more I read the story, the more skeptical I'm with the story. Nevertheless, there is nothing he can do to get back his Bitcoin, it's either he takes the phone to a repair shop where he can repair his phone for recovery or the laptop to an engineer, no seed phrase or private key, no Bitcoin.

If someone is in that position, they definitely can't recover that Bitcoin anymore. Do you think you can just click "forgot seed phrase" on the Bluewallet app and magically get access to your Bitcoin again? If they lose access to their seed phrase, then literally, they've lost their Bitcoin, unless they had backed up their seed phrase somewhere else, in which case they could recover it.

And would you be so willing thrusting bitcoin site with all your finincial assets?

That's just Bitcoin, not a Bitcoin site. Of course, I wouldn't trust all my financial assets to Bitcoin. Remember 'don't put all your eggs in one basket,' that advice is so important for protecting your assets.

Let me know because currently he’s looking for a solution.

Regardless of whether your story is true or not. What solution do you want with that situation? There’s no solution other than letting it go and take it as a lesson to back up your seed phrases somewhere else to prevent something like that from happening.

With all due respect OP, this story is cooked up. Before you think I'm just trying to attack you post, I also live in the area of Portharcourt that is affected by the recent flood. It is not as intense as you have stated in your post. The flood itself is as a result of Persistent torrential rainfall that has overwhelmed the drainage system of so many areas in Portharcourt. It doesn't occur instantly like a flash flood from mountainous region like that of Nepal, rather it develops gradually over some period of time. So you have all the whole time in the world to keep you important belonging safe once you notice the signs. Moreover, the max water level I have seen so far is not above the waist level of an average human. For example, this is are pictures of the developing stage and current stage of the flood in my room:

From my experience, I'd say it is pretty difficult to lose any of your belonging in this recent flood in Portharcourt, unless it is as a result of carelessness.
I also kind of believed that this story was cooked and nothing like the OP is saying happened. i mean it doesn't sound well to say someone that saves his whole asset in bitcoin but forget or never though about back ups for his storage. the fact that its possible but very unlikely, i am 99% sure that who so ever is going fully into bitcoin should have the basic knowledge of security and should also be aware of the saying "not your keys not your coin". with all honesty this story is questionable, and if it happens true, then he's such a coward to act that way he's never  never getting those coins back.
