NAFDAC is trying its best, it is Nigerians that should not have the act of wickedness. In May and July 2026 over 7000 fake products are known. There was a time NAFDAC reported removal of over 10 million doses of fake malaria drugs this year and so on like that. Many people are arrested and sent to prison because they are producing fake products. There are many illegal manufacturing places that NAFDAC shut down every time.

There is a NAFDAC number on every products, you can verify the product through the product NAFDAC number on this link:
https://registration.nafdac.gov.ng/Home/
https://greenbook.nafdac.gov.ng/

Make sure you read any disclaimer or warning on the products certified by NAFDAC.
NAFDAC is working or trying to be active enough to combat enough Fake drugs in the country, but the corruption in Nigeria outweighs their efforts. Police isn't helping matters, even NDLEA. They know those Chemist shops selling the fake drugs, but instead of going after them, they collect bribes and lock up. Unregistered drugs are what dominate the streets. There's this app that is used to validate drugs NAFDAC certifies "Com-Watch" but before you see the drugs that it certifies, e go hard and wetin dey do you fit don kpai you by then.

Because of the high rate of corruption in the country, nobody cares if there are fake products moving around, the see the high rate of drug addiction among young people, you also see fake drugs carried everywhere, and NAFDAC does not checkmate all this things. Sometimes they actually identify some of this fake drugs but instead of arresting this people they collect money from them, and allow them to go scot free. There are many chronic diseases caused by the consumption of this fake drugs, and you see many young men misbehaving in the street, and I really think if this government agency on drugs is really working, there would have been sanity among many young men.

A lot of us might have come through circulating videos on social media about fake products that are being sold to people and I begin to wonder if NAFDAC has been dissolved or they are still functioning?. It is really painful that we find ourselves in a country that jeopardise the lives of her citizens if not the NAFDAC boss should have been sacked. There are many fake drugs, fake drinks and fake foods that are sold in this country but we have an agency that their duty is to checkmate the use of foods and drugs and identify fake and substandard products and possibly ban them.

Kidney disease and heart disease has been on the increase in recent, could it be that the consumption of fake foods and drugs aggravated these health conditions?

It’s very unfortunate that we live in a country where the lives of the citizens are being gambled with. The people in leadership positions hardly get affected by the effects of these fake products, so they wouldn’t bother to tackle the problem. Sometimes I wonder why we keep allowing people who don’t care about the masses keep ruling us. A development that should have received an urgent attention, but won’t because they don’t care. If the government don’t want to do anything about this soon, the masses will have to take it upon themselves to make sure they fish out those that are flooding our markets with fake products, because we are the ones suffering directly from it.

We've gotten to a stage in Nigeria that you just look. If you can't change them, and you can't get there easily to make a change, what can you do?

I will say it a million times: there's nothing working in Nigeria.

So why beat ourselves unnecessarily? You name any sector, and I would tell you at least 3 things that are going wrong there. No quality control, no safety/security, no respect for human lives, rights and properties, corrupt/extortion here and there. I believe we are just sleeping and working up in that country; getting worse daily, with no hope anywhere.

When a country highest office is corrupt, you know what to expect, you don't expect an unsanitized government to identify things like this, have we come think why there are more kidney, liver and some other dangerous diseases these days more than it use to be those days, we have more people looking for the money and how these days, I think I will say that nigerians don't longer have conscience, and we must be very cautious this time, the hard drug of a thing is no longer anything in this country, if you report anyone to the law enforcement agency, they'll will arrest the person, and collect money, in some cases they'll even tell the person who reported him to them, fake drugs and fake everything is everywhere, is time to thoroughly check everything we consume.

A lot of persons have been saying NAFDAC is working but what exactly have they done so far?, if they are working in the capital city of the country doesn't mean they are also doing the same in every other states and besides when a situation have gotten this critical some measures are meant to have started taking place, such as banning some certain local shops from selling some soft drinks especially those shops that restock from buying products on any source without considering the authenticity of what they're buying. However a lot of this fake product usually pass police on the road but the moment they give them money they allow them to bring it inside the city.

Honestly I am more concerned about drugs and supplements, the herbal supplement seems very common and NAFDAC agency don’t care about these products. Recently I just found out about this supplement a friend of mine was consuming, what led to my research was about the company not being able to restock or produce another product so out of curiosity I had to search, to my biggest surprise the company is not registered with NAFDAC.
Now for someone who love taking drinks like coca-cola, I had to stop after finding out majority of the product sold are fake, just imagine companies now increase high level of chemicals just to preserve the product for a long period of time in order to avoid loss, NAFDAC should do more of visibility because fake products are flooding the business section.

Even though many things are now becoming legal for people to practice in the country today, NAFDAC is one of the regulatory bodies that take their work very seriously. For the sake of our safety, they must not tolerate any bribe from any company or factory found guilty of repackaging or recycling fake goods.
Most especially now that the majority of Nigerian citizens are looking for a way to survive the high cost of living, some people are doing things roughly as they like. I once saw people making sachet water manually in their homes, and it was not as pure as we expect it to be. That is exactly what is happening with some of the things Nigerians consume daily, including some drugs.

You are very very correct that every sectors has their own issues and that is just the reality of things in this country. You can't even wake up to a good news anymore, sometimes you will even be scared of reading the news or navigating through social media because you must come across one bad news or the other. This is the reason why a lot of people are saving money to move out of the country because we are no longer safe anymore. Insecurity here and there and now the foods we are buying is now a target. Even the quality of products has reduced while their prices are insanely high and expensive. I don't really know the direction that this country is moving to because if something is not done to save the situation of things, I'm afraid of what this country will turn out in the next 10 years.

NAFDAC is just there as figure head. It isn't functioning again. It's very sad. I even watched a video where brain jotter said he was scared of going to clubs because he is scared of buying fake drinks.

It's very sad that an organisation responsible for peoples health is there no just being there. Doing nothing tangible. How did we even get here. It's getting worse everyday and we seem to only talk about things and not do anything ourselves about it. Nigerians abeg na. Una never tire. This guys no care about us ooh. Make we rise up na. Chia.
