Thirteen Days of Mining Earned Me 134 Sats. Here Is Why I Kept Building.

A small set of Mac tools for people who want to see Bitcoin mining as it is, not as it is advertised

Thirteen days. 56,559 accepted shares. 134 satoshis.

At today’s price that is about ten cents. It would not cover the electricity for the USB stick that earned it, let alone the Mac that was hashing beside it.

Because you are mining BTCs, where you compete with large mining pools. If you would mine altcoins, and sell them immediately for BTCs, then you would get more coins, for exactly the same mining power. Of course, one of many options to change it, is to enable Merged Mining, but it won't be done, because there is no consensus for that.

My first impression is that this is an ad for btcminertools. There is no point in mining Bitcoin on a PC nowadays, because ASIC chips perform these tasks many times faster. It’s like digging a huge field with a shovel for a month instead of using a tractor, and then being surprised by the meager amount of work done and the poor results.

If the goal of your app is truly for learning or understanding Bitcoin better, this is where you app probably should
1. mine on testnet
2. give option to mine on pool or solo mining

if you decide to add testnet support, i also recommend you to add message unused testnet coin should be donated to faucet or other who need it for testing purpose.

Built for curious Bitcoin users, educators, developers and people who prefer to understand their tools before trusting them.

Related to this statement, consider releasing source code of the app.

You just earned 134 sats running a PC for 13 days? Why keep building if you lose already from your first build?

The weird part is you mention a USB stick but not from the site above. Almost what I see are CPU names; none of them mention ASICs.
However, the article you link above mentions the Gekko Gekkoscience USB stick; it seems it's around 300 GH/s. If you mine in NiceHash, you can earn more than that.

Why not mine solo instead, and maybe you could hit a jackpot? Or if you looking to make profit with a USB stick, then try building a solar instead of using your home electricity or renting it out like in miningrigrentals.
