When the cost of things gets really expensive and the economy crumbles to the floor, many parents choose to have just one or two kids, so they can be able to provide and give them everything they need without much complaints, rather than having four or five children and struggling to pay for a pizza.
The floor is open, what do you think? Is the economy really reducing the family population?
In my honest opinion, parents should be wise and matured enough to decide to lower their planned children if their cost of living isnt enough for more rooms. Its just a matter of budgeting. Many will probably argue with this especially those who valued the Christian and catholic belief that wr shouldnt control the family members as the will of the Lord is to multiply. But being a responsible parent dont want to have more if they are only meant to die of such like Hunger. Im also a catholic and believed on word of God but lets be rationale about ways of living too and be practical.

Most developed nations are going through a decline in population because of low birth rates. The population of those who have decided they don't want children is increasing. There are some reasons for this decision, but at the top of it is financial implications. With the high cost of raising children, people don't want to burden themselves. Another growing concern is climate change. With the increase in natural disasters, some people see it as a risk to bring children into an unsafe world. Some religions see children as a gift from God. They forbid the use of contraceptives. This might be one of the reasons why there is an ever-growing population in developing countries. These poor countries have a high population of religious people who believe that children must be brought into the world because it's God's command. The economy of many countries is getting worse; therefore, people should have to consider their financial and emotional capacity before considering how many children they should have. It's heartbreaking to see your children suffer because you don't have the financial capacity to provide their needs. Those in natural disaster-prone or war-torn nations control childbirth.

For me, I don’t think it’s only about whether people can afford children today. Economic decisions can influence their decision for years even after their financial situations gets better. Some couple may still decide to want four or five children but they keep postponing that plan because they want to secure a house or stable income and their children children’s education first while others may decide to have fewer children because they don’t want their family to experience the same financial struggles they are facing. Even when the economy improves, people may not have larger families because their priorities and expectations has changed.

Well, the truth is that the cost of living has become more expensive than years ago and the rate of job scarcity in some countries has also increase relatively to the population growth and some people are smart enough to put all the necessary things in consideration before they start making babies, I have heard of couples who their decision was to have 1 baby, they planned it so well that they kept to their decision but when it comes to why some parents give birth to many children, at times, even more than the number they can afford to take care of, the reason is that they don't plan for it and they also belongs to a religion that doesn't permit them to do abortion because at times they get pregnant when they don't even want it and some parents too, based on personal beliefs, they don't do abortion too and they are not even taking enough precaution to prevent them from getting pregnant.
I am partially sure that if millions of people that have 5 kids and above gets an interview of why they have many kids, most of them will tell us that it was not even their plan but it just happened. So, some people make these mistakes despite knowing the situation of the economy.

Yes and no. People who are educated enough to understand their financial capacity may be forced to reduce the number of children they originally planned to give their family a comfortable life as they adjust to the current economy. However, some countries whose government are too corrupt fail to deliver the same education like the progressive and developed countries have, it will have a domino effect, not only does it creates overpopulation, but unemployment and illiteracy follows. So, people from such countries can't really see the picture before having more than 2-3 children. So, in this case, the current economic status did not prevent them from having children out of their financial capacity.

Love or hate this, overpopulation is also part of the reason why we are facing more hardship in the world today, we have more people than more jobs available, we have more people than schools and others, and it's affecting us.
I feel it's best if there is law that restricts people on how many children they can have, because even as things look so tough in the world right now some people are still giving birth irresponsibly.
Some people don't care about funds and the future of their kids, they still believe in the old fashion ways, giving birth to children id a blessing even if you can't catter for them.

Well, are these problems really created for a reckless family? I don't believe that. Because the government will not be able to control the population even if it wants to. My state also has a law for child control. It mentions that, there is a right to have a maximum of two children. But the increase in a state's population does not create a job crisis. This is entirely the government's failure because they are struggling to create employment. As a result, the unemployment statistics within the state are increasing. Look at a state like China, which is in the first place in the world in terms of population. But China has no shortage of technology and employment. However, if a family's financial situation is precarious, it significantly affects the upbringing of the children.

Actually, there is a tendency that the more developed a country becomes, less children its citizens have. Take European countries as an example. Meanwhile, people who live in poverty are the ones who most have children, so I don't think economical factor is a general one taken by most people when deciding to have children or not. Meanwhile, people who already find themselves in solid and stable financial standards prefer prioritizing another sectors of life, while others think about having children only after their 30's or 40's.
Countries with ultra low fertility rate like Canada, Japan, and South Korea, consists of women who are tired of the high cost of taking care of a child in a nation where they'll hardly feet their own bills as adults. I'd like to chime in by saying that it's not about financial capacity, but the need to have kids. Some people wish to give birth to a lot of children. Many of them who do so, end up taking good care of all their wards. The point is to have a sustainable way of catering for their needs, like owning a farm, most people with multiple kids in the third world have farms for producing their own foods. With food expenses put by the corner, the family has lesser bills to focus on. Capitalism is the end of high population growth.

Kids don't eat that much, their stomachs are small, and they don't even need diapers. That's something that has been sold to families as if it is necessary. I did not use diapers, as my mother told me. They only made me wear diapers when they had to take me somewhere. Haha, but these days, everyone is putting diapers on their kids, and it really eats a big piece of the pizza.
Education is also not a problem. For early studies, you can homeschool them, that's what people do here in my country. But education is not that expensive. Having kids in third world countries is not a big deal, but having kids in the US means a big bill, while here, the money spent on hospital bills is not even more than $100, but it depends on the complications.
Just be fair, people don't want kids. They just fear they can't manage them, but the reality is they don't have to. Once kids become young enough, like around 13, they know a lot, and they can already think about their future at 15 to 18. But don't take this as guaranteed haha, as some kids are stubborn.

The economy is just one factor. Couples do not decide to have more children if they are still struggling on making their ends meet. With the high cost of living, expensive educational system, and the low, minimal wages received by the parents, the decision making on whether they will add another child or not is really crucial. Otherwise, its the children that will suffer the consequences and compromise their future. However, the fact that the current economy is often going down than surging high, its left to the parents alone to have more or less child. Sometimes, the culture and beliefs also matter, some only target 2-3 children even if they are living a good and comfortable life.

Even when the economy improves, people may not have larger families because their priorities and expectations has changed. I agree that it is not "only" financial; it is also political as well. First of all, we live in a world where it is "better" compared to 100 years ago; even day-to-day life is better. 100 years ago, it was not, and yet they had a better birth rate back then. Politicians are making it look like the world we are living in right now is a lot worse than it is, and not really showing the benefits of the modern world. We have phones in our hands that show strangers all around the world dancing and so forth, or we have a medical world that is improving every single day, or we have food that is cheaper and easier to access than even kings may have had back in the day. So, long story short, it's all political. Why? Because one politician showing "what is wrong right now" is a lot easier to get votes, so they emphasise the bad parts. And don't get me wrong, we do have bad things going on, of course we do, but in human history we always had bad stuff, this is not the first year we have bad things in any country, we always had it, at least now we have much better stuff along with the bad as well.

This is facts, I have always been an advocate for over population and its effect on the people and its economy but too much population is another problem, some people give reasons why giving birth to children at this point in economic crisis and its understandable and relatable but another atrocious occurrence is having workforce scarcity because of reduced natality rate. Once we begin reduce childbirth to one, it because a habit and lifestyle and that can cause crisis deeper Into the future like the pending crisis China is about to face If they don't find solution

It is quite clear that living in this world, economics and in the afterlife, charity, these two things cannot be separated, when economic factors trigger problems, of course this can affect the decline in family population and can also trigger a failure in the global birth rate. The economic situation is deteriorating because basic needs can become expensive and also the impact of high inflation, especially for those who live in urban areas, the prices of various sectors are unaffordable, especially housing. Economic factors can also trigger poor population conditions for countries, not only families, almost all elements in this world have problems.

This is something every clear, the reality of life shows us everything, we don’t need to pretend anymore. The rate at which you earn will control you on how you spend your money which will reflect to your family’s future. The number of kids you intend to have will be determined by some factors; sometimes it’s due to economic situation and your current job at hand, you will only born the number you can afford to raise; while sometimes, you and your partner decides how many kids to born maybe because of life plan and others; but having many children is not bad, but considering the economic situation is very good so that your kids will not be a Borden to others. Take care of them they are your responsibility, that is why you born the number you can afford to take care of.

Well it’s true that a man with little or no income will always struggle to fend or take care of a large family size especially during a period of economic downturns thereby causing many not to continue raising more kids because of the economic situation of the country. But In most areas you’ll find out that it’s the majority of the poor people that are always fond of having many children and some even goes as far as marrying many wives, I don’t know if the economic situation of the country is really affecting them. So, I don’t really think that the economy is reducing family populations. Most of the Rich people don’t even have large families, some of them have a maximum two kids even though they have enough wealth to cover for their children and even for the next generation no matter how the economy of the country changes.

I feel the economy is definitely one of the reasons, but I don’t think it’s the only reason. Even if the economy is good, not everyone would want to have 5 or more kids. If you look at some rich people even with all the money and investments, they still choose to have 1,2 or 3 kids. So I feel it’s also personal choice not just whether you can afford it. Besides having more kids is more than just having money to feed them and send them to school. It takes energy, time and emotional commitment too. Some people want to focus on their careers, enjoy their lives or give their kids more attention. So even if things were cheaper I don’t think everyone would suddenly want a big family.

The floor is open, what do you think? Is the economy really reducing the family population?
In countries where the economic situation is even more terrible you find out that there are more single people particularly men not even married people because single people understand it is easier for them to survive alone than have a family that they have to cater for. The economy makes it tough to even settle and handle rites in some cultures, in such countries, the economy has considerably affected the chances of a family coming out from some individuals. The economy plays a huge role in family population. There is a distinction though in my view, because people who dwell in rural settlement may particularly be interested in having more children and a bigger family to help in farm work and other family duties. The people who thoroughly affected by the economy are people who dwell in urban settlements because in such places they do not have areas to farm and do not require a large family because a large family means more bills as the standard of living is higher.

You must have heard about the phrase, cut your coat according to your cloth. You as a parent who must have understood how his financial status is in relating to the economic status of the country he resides in. You should be able to know how to plan out your life very well. Having a lot of kids is not a problem but you should estimate your capacity to take good care of them and by that, you must be able to provide them their basic necessities. A large family is fine, people like polygamous homes, but when you do not have the financial capacity to rise that home it's is better to do the least you can.

In 60s people used to have more than half a dozen kids on average because just one person is enough to make the financial needs for the family and now at present people just want one kid even with both the parents are working more hours than before, and the situation is more similar all around the world and it is not a surprise or new inromation to learn.
There are other reasons which are not based on financial situation to have fewer kids but those are exceptions not commonly found in a middle class family.

IMO I think overpopulation doesn't bring hardship, a country can be less dense with population, and the country will still face hardship. It can go both ways. Let's look at China, they are one of the most populous countries, but they don't have hardship like some countries that are 5 times smaller than their country(Nigeria in this case). They have good paying jobs, they have lots of immigrants looking for jobs because there is more to go around, everyone is contributing, even the farmers are playing their part of the economy to make sure there is enough food to go around and for exportation. Let's use India as another example, they are one of the largest countries with over population but they don't have a stable economy like China, they have more hardship may be 2 or 3 times bigger than China, they have one of high rate of unemployment compare to China. I think this is where your explanation is fit in. Overpopulation can play both part, there are countries that are less populted but the economy is very bad because of high level of corruption.
