Bitcoin developers are not sleeping on quantum threat, people are making a big deal out of it and that's fine by me because it's all FUD and I trust that some people will be affected by it.
Gimme more time to keep accumulating some satoshis, it's a free world, at the end of every FUD there will always be some people who refuse to get shaken out of the market, it's been too long already since I've been used to Bitcoin FUD.
The smart ones are buying heavily while FUDs like this are restricting others from buying, someone somewhere is buying up all the FUD, I won't be part of those who are waiting doing nothing.

My question now is how many weak hands have panic sold and who is buying Bitcoin for the next leg up?
Those who believe will continue to buy, while those who are doubtful may have already started selling. But there is another group that will only take advantage of the market situation to make a profit. They do not care about the use of Bitcoin or quantum computers that are said to be threatening; as long as they can make a profit, there will be people who continue to buy and sell Bitcoin in the market. We do not need to worry too much.

I can see there's a misunderstanding by the OP and just like him, many people would misunderstanding Vitalik's statement for creating an FUD. The worst thing anyone who misunderstand that statement would do is to sell off Bitcoin to buy Ethereum thinking it offers better security. People need to understand that the Bitcoin devs are not relenting on the security of Bitcoin against future quantum threats. Lately there's some projects built in progress to tackle quantum threats so OP should understand thar devs aren't sleeping on it.

Quantum computing has never been just a threat to Bitcoin; it's a threat to everything from banks to digital platforms and anything that uses encryption. It's just that some people are directing this threat towards Bitcoin, which is quite strange and more like FUD, because not only Bitcoin uses encryption, but many other technologies do too.
But being afraid of this is kind of silly too. I mean, quantum computing isn't at the level of being a real threat yet – and maybe it won't be for a few more years. Plus, Bitcoin devs aren't just sitting around, they're definitely monitoring quantum technology developments and quantum threat prevention, and they've already considered the suggested proposals and could implement them when the time is right.

I don't mostly trust on what other founders may be saying when it comes to their interest to convey public attention over a particular target they are having a mind, will know that we are in the world of competition and everyone is trying harder to ensure that the remain a top notch in what they do, everything about Bitcoin is turning into more of an opportunity with adequate timing. We just have to do our personal research and avoid any unnecessary destruction that might prevent us from buying Bitcoin against the future.

Why other sector? I thought quantum attack are only for cryptographic sector, why health and others as well. Are you saying any sector that are integrated with blockchain technology are liable to be affected?
Do you think Bitcoin developers will going to sit and watch quantum computers destroy Bitcoin and not do anything about it?
I think topics like this as a joke because pre information about quantum destroying cryptographic industry must also trigger pre resistance to such attacks in the future.
Well, "quantum computing" basically means we are talking about a larger processing that we ever had. You know how BTC is at risk because it can crack wallets, since it would have computing power to do that? Because what takes 200+ years today may take 2 days in that situation, or maybe not; we are not there yet so we do not know. That means, what if that same computing power is used for something else? Crack nuclear codes of a country's arsenal? Destroying the database of a country's health system? Deleting all of the information the IRS has on people? Basically, whatever can be used, it is at risk and a much larger computing power, gives bad people a chance to do a lot of evil stuff as long as they want to.

Any link to the source of information? Why Buterin has to spread FUD around Bitcoin only? Is Ethereum quantum-resistant? I'm sure that Ethereum would be as vulnerable to quantum attacks as Bitcoin. Anyway, quantum computers are a potential threat, that may or may not become truth in the next few years. AI is the real current threat and nobody is talking about how to reduce the amount of upcoming AI hacks and scams, that will keep causing damages to the crypto industry from now on.
This might be the news OP was referring to. But Vitalik wasn't talking about quantum computing at all. He was talking about the risks AI could pose, and not just to BTC but to the crypto industry as a whole. He's just flagging a potential threat and urging the industry to get ahead of it. Thanks for bringing the source of this information here. I have been wondering where OP got the information from. Vitalik, this time, may not be trying to spread FUD, but the gossip about quantum attacks has been so exaggerated by Bitcoin haters/critics that it is now common for people to panic at the mention of quantum risks, even though Vitalik was only passing on information and hoping that we will prepare for quantum attacks coming in the future. Now that we are all aware and the developers are preparing a solution that will withstand the attacks when they eventually happen, everyone should be at peace with themselves because we will not be caught unawares. Bitcoin has faced lots of challenges. Quantum and AI threats will also come and be defeated like the others.

Vitalik Buterin came out to drop his own version of Fear Factory on Bitcoin investors. I'm sorry I going to have to call it a FUD.
By the time quantum computer hits Bitcoin,
Health care, hospitals, transportation, security systems, banks and logistics would be the first victims of Quantum computer, they would have been hit long before Bitcoin gets touched.
I don't know about the past but today, the whole world depends on cryptography. Yet, some people just decide to FUD Bitcoin as if Bitcoin is the only thing exposed to Quantum threat.
Let's think about it carefully, This is a Global Threat, it's never a Bitcoin only thing.
The widespread FUD currently circulating about quantum computers won’t shake my resolve in the slightest to continue investing in Bitcoin, regardless of whether it stems from a statement by Vitalik Buterin. After all, we’ve been bombarded with all sorts of bad news for a long time now, even since Bitcoin first emerged. My question now is how many weak hands have panic sold
News like this may only affect newbie investors who focus solely on Bitcoin price or profits with every price increase, so when bad news like this surfaces, they’re bound to panic (sell or cut their losses) without doing any further research. who is buying Bitcoin for the next leg up?
ME. I still do it and will continue to do so.

Isn't it obvious ? Bitcoin is not the only thing that will be impacted by Quantum computers, all that exists today will be impacted by Quantum computers. As OP already mentioned, it includes banks, schools, hospitals, asset management firms etc... Bitcoin is still far better than these things and better secured than these. So let these firms worry while bitcoin has more time to resolve this issue.

Why other sector? I thought quantum attack are only for cryptographic sector, why health and others as well. Are you saying any sector that are integrated with blockchain technology are liable to be affected?
The banking sector, security systems, internet protocols, and private and government operations that rely on public-key cryptography are prone to quantum attacks. Yes, all sectors that use blockchain technology and all digital systems that use public-key cryptography could suffer attacks.
Vitalik Buterin's observations are correct. Almost all sectors of the world are facing threats from AI. There have been several reports of AI-powered tools hacking into the systems of reputable organizations. The crypto industry would have to prepare because these tools are developing faster than expected.

My question now is how many weak hands have panic sold and who is buying Bitcoin for the next leg up?
I thought I was the only one with this perspective. Everytime you hear someone talking about the quantum computers, the first thing that speak of is Bitcoin. At some point I began to think if Bitcoin is the reason why it is being designed? C'mon, it is evident that most of the discussions about Bitcoin and quantum are just there to cause unnecessary FUD in the market. We have so many weak links investors, those who gets carried away by fear. Quantum computers are the next generation machines, there will be much greater use of such machines than Bitcoin hacks in the future and even when that time comes, we will already have a lot of quantum resistant wallets like we are seeing today.

As a person, I don't know why I feel like no one can talk me out of buying or panic selling and if I indulge in those activities then it should be self decision and over the years I have always wished that I would be a part of those who will benefit from the next all time high price and I don't know how I would possibly do this but I'm very certain that I will do it and that is to say that yes, I hope to be buying bitcoin for the next leg up.

The quantum computers haven't hit Bitcoin, and people are becoming afraid to invest in Bitcoin. Let them continue to buy into the FUD while we ride along to accumulate Bitcoin. We will know who will laugh and cry last when the quantum computers are countered effectively by Bitcoin developers, and by then Bitcoin will have increased more than it has currently. It is a matter of time we will get to know the way forward or fate of our Bitcoin investment with that of the threat that will challenge its security in the future

These days it's easy for people to talk about investing in Bitcoin, but it's really difficult for people who are willing buy Bitcoin and hold it for the sake of tomorrow. The generality of the people who are into Bitcoin is just there for the sake of making profit, this is why people don't talk too much about holding Bitcoin for too long. It's important that as an investigator people should not only think about investing for the purpose of short term investment which is all about making money.
Bitcoin is evolving and we are looking at the next phase of Bitcoin. Just imagine someone holding Bitcoin for the next ten years, and think about what the price of Bitcoin will be in the next ten years. The real profit is gotten in holding Bitcoin for the long term.

Is it as easy as imagined? Isn't that the real question? No matter how powerful quantum computers are, cracking cryptographic systems requires immense capability—and we know that the private key is what gives a user control over spending their Bitcoin. In my view, this is merely a manufactured threat designed to scare those currently holding Bitcoin assets. By painting a picture that suggests Bitcoin ownership is at risk, the narrative strips holders of the confidence to keep their assets, triggering premature panic. It is a way to gauge the prevalence of weak hands.

Who do you think is the one buying up all the coin that falls out of weak hands? The very same people who spread FUD. Their intentions are not to educate or lead you but rather make a profit from you. So it should be no surprise that veterans completely try to ignore these "influencers". Especially if they are competitors with their own coin that they want to push. It is all a matter of perspective, really.

The discussion about the threat of quantum computers had been a while now. I think those who are affected by quantum computer FUD had already sold their stash so I do not think that there will be more people to follow. Obviously, those who understand the development of Bitcoin will be the ones buying Bitcoin when weak hands are selling. Who do you think is the one buying up all the coin that falls out of weak hands? The very same people who spread FUD. True, those who spread FUD are not usually Bitcoin haters but rather people who love accumulating Bitcoin at a low price, so yeah, one of the buyers will be those who spread FUD.

This might be the news OP was referring to. But Vitalik wasn't talking about quantum computing at all. He was talking about the risks AI could pose, and not just to BTC but to the crypto industry as a whole. His point is that crypto needs to take those potential AI risks seriously and prepare for them. He wasn't claiming that current cryptography has already been cracked, or that it's definitely going to happen anytime soon. So, there's no FUD here, imo. He's just flagging a potential threat and urging the industry to get ahead of it. If OP is talking about this tweet by Vitalik, then yep, he just gave a heads up, no FUD at all. He just said AI can break encryption at some level, maybe sooner than quantum computers. He only gave a heads up that when something happens, don't move your funds all at once because when you are in a hurry, you can make mistakes. He also said to try not to spend your coins because it can reveal your public key, which might then be used by AI, not QCs, to find the private key.

Some parties want to promote themselves by bringing others down. This is a very common occurrence in the industry. Undeniably, competition will become increasingly fierce. We don't know what else will come out in the future. That's okay.
As crypto enthusiasts, we all understand the implications of this. We can't deny that there are those who dislike Bitcoin. There are certainly those who want to bring it down. With various negative framings of Bitcoin, this might work for laypeople. But not for those of us who are experienced in cryptocurrency. This shouldn't be too harsh on open-minded people.

Which Vitalik's statement do you refer to? I think you need to enclose the source of the information. I doubt you misunderstand it. Yet, some people just decide to FUD Bitcoin as if Bitcoin is the only thing exposed to Quantum threat.
There will be always FUDs on Bitcoin because some people take advantages of the FUDs. There are also the people who hate Bitcoin because of many reasons. So, we can't avoid the FUDs, it will always exist. Let's think about it carefully, This is a Global Threat, it's never a Bitcoin only thing.
Indeed. It is actually a global threat. Anything connected to internet, it can be harmed by the quantum computer. For the Bitcoin, it has the developers. I am optimistic that we will have the way to protect from the treat of quantum computer. Bitcoin developers aren't the people who don't know this treat. I'm sure they have realized this such treat since a long time ago. My question now is how many weak hands have panic sold and who is buying Bitcoin for the next leg up?
We don't know this. But there must be some people who have lack of trust to Bitcoin. They can panic at any time. Even it is just a small FUD.
