If Bitcoin could keep it so that everyone can mine fairly with an ordinary computer, then I think Bitcoin would definitely be a very successful blockchain. And if its throughput were a bit higher.

The mining difficulty is based on how many people are trying to mine the block, back in 2009 it was possible with CPU but now even with ASICs it is like hitting a lottery when you do it as a solo miner. That means the system is working as supposed to be mainly the fair part, who brings more computational power has the more chances to mine the block. And Bitcoin is already the most successful crypto then what you mean it would be? What exactly are you looking for...

Do you know that thue technically has nothing to do with bitcoin itself, bitcoin mining is just simply having a tool or process that can solve the Maths faster and it’s actually us (more specifically miners) who are looking for a faster process to do that and that’s why there is transition from normal CPU to GPU to sophisticated ASICs now. Simply because each miner wants to get the next block, it’s like a race and the faster car wins. As for the difficulty it’s there because of situations like this, it adjust after every 2016 blocks to keep the network in check such that the average mining time for a block is maintained at 10 minutes. If not for difficult bitcoin might not reached the due time before it is completely mined. For the throughput which I think you mean more transactions in a block you need to consider the Block size, once it’s increased then storing the entire Block as full node will be really difficult for many to run.

At the early days it was possible and easy to mine Bitcoin using a computer This wouldn't make it necessarily fair since anybody can own more than one computer with the right Resource.
Technology to mine improved and to compete better many had to follow suite. It's similar to the fact that everybody can use a sword in a war But what does it mean when others are using rocket launchers or guns. You can still try to mine Bitcoin with a computer but the likelihood of winning is lower than winning a lottery.

Not everyone can be a miner, and this is not like cloud mining, where everyone should participate in the process; this is all about proof of work and the qualifications required to have a chance to mine Bitcoin. As long as the technical ability and other setup are in place for mining Bitcoin, if the value of Bitcoin is very high, then expect the mining process to also require more tasks to be done to deserve it.

This is not entirely true , anyone can be miner Aslong you have the right hardware (even a computer will do). Though not everybody can be profitable, that’s why many has to join mining pool. if the value of Bitcoin is very high, then expect the mining process to also require more tasks to be done l to deserve it. No Bitcoin price doesn’t directly affect the computation power needed to mine a block. We have Bitcoin adjustment for a reason.

I think back in the early days of bitcoin, it was possible to mine with a laptop but in recent time, the difficulty of the block has made It had and already very impossible for bitcoin to be mined on computers but mind you, bitcoin at this level in this few years can be regarded as being successful and if maybe you're looking towards exploring the bitcoin mining industry, then I should just bring to your notice that, as of now, running a successful bitcoin miner would cost you so much even more than you might gain if you don't know what you're doing and as such, I would advise that, you try exploring other areas of bitcoin rather than mining.

Sadly, your ideal won't happen. But even if your idea doesn't happen, Bitcoin is already successful because its success doesn't rely only on the machines mining it. It has an ecosystem where every factor contributes to its success. Aside from that, people always want the best part so it will be impossible to maintain such fairness. Aside from that, technology upgrades, like how mining went from PC to GPU to ASICs, have happened. Those who have more funds will always have more hashes.

How do you define a successful blockchain? If success means keeping it secure and decentralized for over 15 years, Bitcoin already won. "Fair mining" is a pipe dream and does not work in practice. Ban ASICs today, and people will just stack consumer GPUs or CPUs in giant data centers tomorrow. Anyone with cheaper power and deeper pockets will always win the hardware race, so large mining farms will always be there.

I think bitcoin mining right now is very fair. If you contribute more computer power then it will reward you more, if it started giving everyone the chance to mine with an ordinary computer then who would invest? Most people would just mine using their old junk PC, apart from that the network wouldn’t become successful but rather it would become more vulnerable, as making it easy to mine for ordinary people it would become more and more easier to rewrite the blockchain which could pose security threats

I don't think that's fair. The design of bitcoin of how it can be mined has changed over the years. And that's why its success is relative to the difficulty of mining. Should it be allowed to be mined by everyone through a PC, the rarity of it won't be there anymore. And anything that can easily be obtained doesn't have much value because everybody can have it.

Gone are the days when Bitcoin could be easily mined with the use of computer when it started as a new decentralized digital currency, and just as some people overlooked it, some others took advantage of that opportunity during it's early stage in 2009 - 2010 to mined a huge number of it, and a good example of it was "Laszlo Hanyecz", the guy who bought two pizzas with 10,000 BTC. While another thing that stopped Bitcoin from being mined on computer is that the more Bitcoin experience a new life cycle after halving, that's the more it mining becomes complex and difficult. Together with the fact that it's price value increase also, resulting to a high demand for Bitcoin. And this have made it the most successful digital currency.

Lol, the BTC network is decentralized, so you do not need permission from any entity to mine BTC. However, the reason you won't attempt to mine BTC on your computer is because it is not profitable to do so and it is impossible to compete with ASICs, not because you're not allowed to. I'm not too sure what you mean by 'the rarity of it', lol, but BTC already has a fixed supply and with its mining difficulty adjustment, blocks would steadily be mined ~ 10 minutes on average.

However, the reason you won't attempt to mine BTC on your computer is because it is not profitable to do so and it is impossible to compete with ASICs, not because you're not allowed to. OP is talking about the fairness of it if it's still allowed to be mined in PC. And that's why it's conditional as I've said if 'should be allowed'. It's not about the permission but what OP has set as the question. I'm not too sure what you mean by 'the rarity of it', lol, but BTC already has a fixed supply and with its mining difficulty adjustment, blocks would steadily be mined ~ 10 minutes on average.
You're right about it mineable every 10 minutes for each block. What rarity means scarce and his topic is about if everyone can have it. And for the difficulty of mining, not everyone can have it if it's with the condition that OP has asked about it being mineable right now by an ordinary PC because it requires quite expensive asic miners.

You do not have an option to choose what to do now, even if it had started that way. Although there is competition among miners, whoever has the best computing machine picks up a block and adds it to the blockchain, it is now a business for many to earn. Bitcoin is already successful without being mined with an ordinary device. If you want something you can do with an ordinary laptop, try running a node on your laptop, it will be your contribution to Bitcoin.

Hmm bro, if you think this is fair mining, then bro, think for a second. A botnet of thousands of infected laptops could threaten the network. And the massive capital that has been sunk into ASICs is exactly what makes attacking BTC expensive now. If you remove that and make it cheaper, then people could just rent cloud computing or spread malware across thousands of machines. This also reminds me of that P2P virus that has been running since 2001, I think, which was recently disrupted. And what you are demanding is completely against decentralization. More throughput means bigger blocks, and bigger blocks mean fewer people can run a full node. And then you know, bro, this can speed up centralized validation. So you can't get both without giving something up.

I mean that wasn't going to happen these days because there are already a lot of miners these days so the competition to the reward of mining is not something like what miners earned back in the day, it was getting split by a lot of miners. Also, there is a increase in mining difficulty so our usual pc are not enough these days to actual mine Bitcoin these days, since a lot of powerful hardware are already being used these days so imagine the competition. This would probably be a problem since, if you are a small miner, you need to actually see if it is even worth it to run your computer just to mine this cryptocurrency with very low pay, usually uit wasn't going to be worth it these days, so only giant companies with huge miners are the ones that could keep it running, and they are the one getting most of the mine fees.

In the early years everyone could mine Bitcoin with their computer.. but as Bitcoin grew, the mining devices had to be upgraded to stay relevant to the network difficulty level and made it harder for computers to compete with devices specifically designed for mining.. but basically this still allows everyone to mine only you need capital to buy mining devices to compete with other miners on the network.. Needless to say that this is unfair because not everyone is specifically designed to be a miner, you can still contribute to Bitcoin, not only as a miner, but it can be a holder, or others.

Is Pi a big successful blockchain? Because everyone is mining with their smartphone at home and anywhere. Can you examine the effects of these mining model to classify itself to be a successful one, what had happened to pi blockchain and the price so far after launch, can you tell? It's okay that mining Bitcoin is done this way because it filters out unprofessional miners and bring out the best software and tools for making the blockchain running and operating in a large industrial layout.

I would have been cool if we could find an easy way of keeping the difficulty low so that it could be mined with a PC while simultaneously keep its security high so that it cannot be attacked. But in reality we can't have everything and that's fine. But you are forgetting another important thing here. For Bitcoin to be successful it doesn't need to be mined by everyone with a PC. As a "peer-to-peer digital cash" it need to be safe, decentralized, censorship resistant, ... and it already is which makes it successful.
