CATCH THE CANDLE RAIN
A game powered by live Binance BTC/USDT 1-second candles.

  /// INTRO
The name of this game is Bitcoin Candle Rain (Candle Rain).
It's a casual game where there is a Bitcoin character trying to catch all the candles falling from the sky like it's raining candles.
What makes this different is that the candle rain doesn't fall randomly.
It depends on the live BTC/USDT candle chart on Binance, with a 1s timeframe. A slight delay may still happen.

  /// GAMEPLAY
In the Bitcoin Candle Rain game, you have 60 seconds to score as many points as you can.
You may end up with negative points if you don't catch the candles wisely.

There are 3 kinds of candles in this game: green, red, and gray. Each color has different points as shown below.
Again, these 3 candles don't fall randomly from the sky. They're based on Binance's BTC/USDT 1-second candle chart.
In short, the candle rain reflects the current BTC market situation.
Green candles when the price goes up, red candles when it goes down, and gray candles when the opening and closing prices are the same.

To make it more interesting and challenging, there are 3 items that can boost/reduce your points and make it easier/harder for you to catch the candles. It depends on your skill, the market situation, and decision making. Sounds familiar? Yeah, almost the same as trading BTC.

These are the 3 items available in this Bitcoin Candle Rain game.

  /// FEATURES
Not much, just like other casual games.
  • Leaderboard.
  • Recent players.
  • Share link, share image, and download image of your individual score.
  • On/off sound.
  • Fullscreen.

  /// SCREENSHOT

These are the screenshots of the gameplay:

Example of an individual score card you can share/download:

  /// LINK
Try it if you have time. Play it with your friends, family, or kids.

https://candlerain.xyz/

  /// LESSON FROM THE GAME
This game is actually close to the Bitcoin space, especially BTC trading.
For example, on your way to catch 3 green candles, you may need to take 1 red candle as a risk.
The magnet in this game can also be a reminder for us that not all opportunities can end up being good for you.
Small, normal, and big character sizes can teach us a lesson that size doesn't matter. Small traders, normal traders, and big traders all come with their own risks.

  /// FEEDBACK
If you have tried it, I'd appreciate it if you could post your feedback here. This is my first time building a game.
But one important note, I built it through vibe coding. Skip it if you are not a fan of vibe coding.

I have played it before this ANN was created and I am telling everyone the fact that this game is so engaging and bliss that anyone playing this game will keep coming over and over. It is a simple and easy to play game but the way it has been presented has amazed me. LOL! I never thought Bitcoin would catch those objects dropped from the sky, which will lead to points and the best player showing up on the leaderboard.

I think/feel everyone should give it a try. Grin

I've posted my comment on your local board thread OP, but I'll add that maybe you can add a unique ID for every session for people who like to share their results, and make sure it's verifiable? I haven't tried it yet, but what would happens when different people use the same name? For example "asd", "qwerty", etc. Is there a flag session or something similar that prevents multiple users from using the same name? What if someone forget their previous username?

Haha... Thank you for playing. Don't forget to also check out a collection of tools related to Bitcoin created by Cointikka in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5584094.

I also can’t wait to see and try your game next. I hope there’s some Bitcoin data involved in your game too, so it can attract Bitcointalk users here. We’ve already been doing block hash and price guessing for a long time. We need more alternative games

There’s a unique ID for every session. It’s not verifiable yet by the players, only one sided verification from my game's side. When you click to share a link, it would look like this example:
https://candlerain.vercel.app/?result=eyJwdXJwb3NlIjoic2hhcmUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjoxLCJydW5JZCI6IjUxZmM5ZTM3LWFlMWMtNGFjNC1hMjZiLTM5MGYzM2ZkMjdmYSIsInVzZXJuYW1lIjoiVGVkTW9zYnkiLCJzY29yZSI6Mzl9.zK9IJdQ87iLMflye-pwPf7kkOaLwIT35Brvtyo9v8co

The same name won't show up as different players on the leaderboard or in recent players. Names may be the same, but each session is unique and only attached to a unique link like the one I posted above. I tried to make this game as casual as possible so users can just type a random name and play. No need to log in, remember passwords, etc. So, if this game is used one day for an event, for competitive purposes, the players need to save that link as proof of participation. For example, players DM those links to the campaign manager, then post their usernames as replies in the thread. If I am not mistaken, it's the same as campaign involving multipliers competitions in Games and Rounds board. Sorry, I am really bad at explaining things. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain.

I am still working on it. There are a few small technical details that I need to work on before the beta & test launch. I am hoping that before the month ends I will be able to do the soft launch for the community to test it and provide feedback.

Would you consider a daily challenge where everyone plays the same recorded sequence of candles? Alongside the live mode, that could make score comparisons more meaningful, since players would face the same conditions.
Are you suggesting a 1x1 battle? That will be a great input to the current game. I am not sure what the OP has done in the background of this game but I say he has a database. If OP wants, that database can be expanded depending on the usage allowed, as he is using a free hosting service. I assume 1x1 battle can be achieved if he opts for database-based clouds. This is my point of view, as I am not smart enough to ask him.

No worries, I get what you're trying to say. I guess that solution works, although the link can get pretty long. So there's basically no similar session, and I wanted to score another high score the server basically make a new session ID even though my name stays the same. What about adding other ways to share it, like with a QR code for example?

What kind of game are you trying to build? Text based, 2D, or 3D?
Ping me here when you soft launch it Grin

@Antique_Age's reply is gone, but I still want to answer the question.
Playing a recorded sequence for a battle is possible. But the essence of this game is to play with a live BTC/USDT chart. So, I don't have any plans for it. But for competitions, apart from the weekly/all time leaderboards, I also added a competition code feature, where players who use the same code will have a separate leaderboard. With this, people can freely host their own community competitions.

[...]

So there's basically no similar session, and I wanted to score another high score the server basically make a new session ID even though my name stays the same. Yeah, each new game has its own unique "Run ID", no matter what your username is. It identifies a particular game and its result. You may use the same username as others, for example, "Satoshi", but only the "Satoshi" with the highest score will appear on the leaderboard (global/weekly/competition).

To prove you are the owner of the particular result, you need to save your Run ID by copying the link through the "share link" button. You will get a link like this:
https://candlerain.vercel.app/run/bc87855e-b3d1-43f3-b9b7-a6e1e8ace3d3
Yes, it's shorter now than before, compared to the one I posted above.

So, if you join a competition, you should keep this link safe as proof of participation, or if you need to post it publicly, make sure you are the first one to post it publicly.

About the QR code, I don't understand. What do you mean by using a QR code to share it? Like a QR code to share the result link that contains the Run ID above? I am not sure if it's necessary yet. Maybe later if this game eventually gets many players.

BTW, the game has been updated to v1.1

I recommend changing this if you have a plan for competition. afaik for now, the game can be played even without register, right? which means even te UID is unique user don't know their UID, and since the username is not unique, it will make it a bit difficult to determine the winner in a competition except you are announce it manually. So, if this game is planned to be implemented in a competition and there are duplicate usernames, it will look doesn't fair? So, if you still don’t want a member database with register their email or someting similar, pairing BitcoinTalk accounts could be a solution.
Here’s how it work:
- Users enter a username (ideally, this should be unique, so only 1 username per user, and it can’t be used by anyone else).
- If you still want to keep it open for more than 1 duplicate username, then making the USERID public, so players can saving it if needed.
- If you don’t want the UID to be open publicly visible but still want the username to be reusable by multiple user, then registration must be paired with a BitcoinTalk account.

So, for a competition, unique UIDs and unique usernames must be implemented, that’s my suggestion. The rest is up to you  Grin

So, for a competition, unique UIDs and unique usernames must be implemented, that’s my suggestion. The rest is up to you  Grin

Candle Rain doesn't use a User ID (UID), it uses a Run ID. The Run ID is stored in the database. It identifies a particular game and links to its data, such as the username, score, game mode, score details, scenes, timestamp, etc. Each new run gets one Run ID when it starts, no matter which mode you play, Single Round or Three Rounds.

Players can find their Run ID after they complete a run and the result is saved. They can copy the share link (which includes the Run ID), then keep it to themselves.

For the winner announcement, the host can just announce the usernames of the winners and tell them to PM their share links (which include the Run IDs) and wallet addresses. Or participants can simply post their usernames, wallet addresses, and Run IDs without editing their posts. If you get a new higher score, delete your previous submission and post a new reply.

With this way, even if there are 10 people claiming to be the winner, the host can check which submitted Run ID matches the winning result.

Another way, the competition host can require participants to use their Bitcointalk usernames to join the competition and send their claims from those same Bitcointalk accounts. So, there are two things to check, the Bitcointalk account and the share link (Run ID), which must match the recorded score in the database.

1 & 3. I don't want to add a registration step. I want to minimize the effort needed to play it. About linking Bitcointalk account, I don't want to risk other people's accounts by requiring them to connect their accounts to the game.

2. Players can save their Run ID.

Maybe we should test it with all participants using the same username first, so others can understand the solution I am offering in this case Grin
Let's use username "Bitcointalk".

Okay, if this is your decision, you must already consider the other possibilities. If it’s confirmed that this won’t cause any disputes if the game is actually run as a giveaway on the board (games and rounds), the competition should be able to proceed without any problems, including disputes over usernames. As long as share links and run IDs can only be generated by the players themselves, this should work as a replacement for duplicate username verification too.

And about linked bitcointalk account, they don't need to connect as google connect, are you also linked your bitcointalk with another forum? if yes, the same way that can be implemented. actually the way to confirm just with scrape and pairing code, but since this is not your focus, just forget it  Wink

There is actually a way if you want to avoid duplicate usernames when other people are also using the same username, linking Bitcointalk accounts does not have to use email or clicking on a specific link, so as not to pose any of the risks you are worried about.

Just verify like a bitlist account, if you have ever registered for a bitlist account, you should understand how to link with a Bitcointalk account. As far as I remember, just display the code for example (XXXXXXX) in the Bitcointalk profile, then when the code is installed on the bitcointalk profile, then we just need to input the profile link and then we press verification.

Then you need to verify it and make sure that the username can no longer be used by others.

Thanks for the input. I’m more enlightened now. So, I decided to add login and verification features while still allowing players to enjoy the game easily without having to create an account. So, creating an account is optional. Players can still play as guests using any username they want (except those already registered by players who created accounts).

For me, both methods are already strong enough to verify results. Guest accounts can still use Run IDs for verification. It will look like this.

I still need feedback from other members here, so I don't miss any potential issues that might happen.

Added! Now players can get verified using their Bitcointalk profile or X post. The username needs to be the same as the one registered in the game. A gold or black checkmark will appear beside your username on the leaderboard or wherever your username is mentioned in the future.

Do you have plans to add more options? For example, another forum like ATT. I don't have an X account and don't really want to create one, but I'm not sure if I wanted to modify my BTT profile for this, for example. I'm not sure what other options should be available, but personally I don't like social media options. I guess you can see what's the demand from other members before you decided to modify it.

@TedMosby
Is it possible to also include the big and mini multiplier points in the final result?
- As it stands, the last part (under the green, red and gray counters) only shows the magnet pickup points, so I'm not sure if there's an easy way for users to double-check the accuracy of results.

BTW, I noticed that when it fails to fetch live data from Binance, the timer continues [screenshot], but it'd be better if it didn't.

I think there is an option to pair accounts that no need to use social media, or if you don't want to change your bitcointalk profile. If OP agree with this idea,
user able to set pairing code not just from profile page, but they can also pair them by creating a post even edited old posts. The process is likely something like this:

1. The in game username must be match with bitcointalk username.
2. Post the pairing code (one-time code) in this thread.
3. Match the code in the Candle rain backend process.
4. Paste the post link containing the pairing code in cadle rain verifications form.
5. Scrape the post and match the code and posters.
6. If it matches, verification set and successful.

With this method, users can verify accounts on both Bitcointalk and altcoin forums without changing their profiles. The code can even be embedded in old posts without having to create new ones.

here is the example of my verification mode:
CR-EKWOHU

you can check the results or test by yourself: https://verify.bbcodetablegen.workers.dev/

For now, I think verification through Bitcointalk and X is enough, considering the majority of Altcoinstalks users are also Bitcointalk users. Apart from that, my game can't access Altcoinstalks. It keeps showing a 403 error.

For Bitcointalk verification, you can do it by placing the code on your profile (anywhere possible) or in a post (new or old).

It literally takes just a few seconds to complete Bitcointalk verification. You can add the code anywhere possible. The process is instant so far. You get the code, place it anywhere as I mentioned, paste the link, click Verify, done. After that, just remove the code.

I added a button to view a more detailed score Grin

About the timer when the game fails to fetch data, initially I kept the timer running because I simply thought players would reload the game since it's just a casual game. But now, this game feels like it's a step beyond just a casual game, with many possibilities. I am also currently developing a new item for this game. By getting this item, players will enter a new game inside the game to collect more points. In this situation, the candles and timer will stop, the player will enter the new game, and after finishing that game, the player will come back to Candle Rain to catch candles again with a 3, 2, 1 countdown. This is one of the games.

So, this made me think about pausing the timer when the game fails to fetch data. By the time you read this, that new update for failed data fetching may have already been applied. Disconnected = paused. If the connection returns to normal, there will be a countdown before the game resumes. If the game fails to reconnect for more than 15 seconds, players will have to retry.

I was thinking about doing it that way before, but I didn't because I don't have a proper ANN thread yet where people can post their codes. Even if I had a proper ANN thread, it would automatically bump the thread in an unhealthy way on this forum. I wasn't aware of the possibility of embedding the code in any new or old post. That update has already been applied now. Would love to see others testing it because my account is already verified, so I can't test it using my own account.

BTW, this game has already been updated to v1.1. I haven't posted about it here yet.
Here's the Indonesian version of the update:

well there is a lot of options if you are not willing users bumping this thread just for verification code and some of them has been implemented
1. place a code on profile user can delete the code at anytime after being verified.
2. place a code on edited posts (anywhere), as far as posters username = claimed in-game username i believe no one able to claimed that username.
3. if you want to prevented bumping thread just with verification code, so never used new posts for verification, users must place a code on edited posts (old posts only), i think the logic was like this:
Code:
if users make a comments on topic with topic id 5596420.0 (this thread)
and the posts created before current timestamp, and there is a verification code, so the verification will be counted as valid.
this logic will only allow posting code in this thread but only if users place a code on a old posts not create new posts.  Grin

well everything is good, i dont think people will spamming this thread with verification code. just try to find the better way without breaking the rules.

So I just catch the candles right?  Roll Eyes

Ok it's kinda fun, it's reminds me of a fruit catching game, where it used to drop fruits (+), and some other rotten things (-) off the sky, and you had to catch them.

And are there any other modes, or can I use other currencies?

Lastly, how the heck did you guys scored 200+? I mean, I could barely reach 50-60 in the single round mode!  Tongue

1. Yeah, once you get verified, you are allowed to remove the verification link. You will see a message like this once you verified...

It literally takes just a few seconds to get verified using either Bitcointalk or X.

2. Yes, that's already been applied too, as you suggested before.

3. Adding the code to a new post or editing an old post is allowed. And yeah, Bitcointalk members should already know the general rules of the forum. I think even adding a short code like CandleRain verification to a new post during your regular forum activity shouldn't be a problem, as long as that part is minor compared to the context of your new post. For example, like this reply. I place it at the end of this post.

So I just catch the candles right?  Roll Eyes

Yeah, the idea of this game is simple, a casual game (like a game people might already be familiar with) but with Bitcoin data. For Bitcoin users, you are playing a game while actually monitoring the BTC price. Like, wow, there are so many green candles falling down, what's happening? For non-BTC users, they will learn about BTC price volatility.

Other currencies or other cryptos? Other cryptos, yes, I have a plan for that to attract other crypto communities. Other fiat currencies, I could add them through the settings. Maybe in the next update. For now, let's just focus on USD Grin

To get a score of 100-200, as @AakZaki suggested on the other thread, you may need to check the 1m candles. So, there's actually some technical analysis needed to score high, apart from luck. Because it's all about the BTC/USDT market on Binance. By the time I post this reply, Tonic (probably @TypoTonic) has scored a new record, a new all-time high score of 344! Now, it's my turn to ask, how the heck did you score 300+? Grin
