So when someone says such sweet things to their partner, what's there to be surprised about? Even when their partner does so much shit, they'll just back them up, because they're the partners who make them a lot of money.

It was a long time ago, in 2022, and you can not connect an incident in 2026 with a partnership between Binance and Ledger 4 years ago. It's not an appropriate way to accuse or criticize Binance.

The main responsibility is the reseller, not Ledger but as a company that authorize resellers as parts of Ledger ecosystem, Ledger can not say they are not responsible for anything. With Binance, it's different, they don't sell Ledger wallets, don't deliver Ledger wallets as one of resellers for Ledger.

Ledger itself possibly was a good hardware wallet in 2022 but four years later, with many things changed, it has possibility for changing from high quality and very secure hardware wallet to a bad one. It's similar to how centralized exchanges, even Tier 1 exchanges, had to close their services over time.

I don't expect CZ to be saying things like this in public, for crying out loud, ledger wallet is even one of the worst how do we wallet to consider using even before the recent issue they had, since it has been discovered that did no longer have privacy confined in using their wallet, and I've been seeing several repeatable members of this forum kicking against using ledger wallet and will rather support trezor among others, this same ledger wallet is what we now see CZ coming to support and this is so disappointing is here even at the heat of the current issue with Ledger hardware wallet.

Ledger is not open source but it's still one of the best hardware wallet, since I've been into crypto Ledger hacks have all been around their email getting hacked, data leak and other impersonation hacks but not ledger getting hacked itself.

This present one is about one of their trusted vendor doing the evil activities on Ledger hardware wallets, this is still very much acceptable, it has nothing to do with Ledger hardware firmware or built-in chip.

This will also brings questions about how future pre-ordered hardware wallets will be delivered safely without anyone or any organisation doing some tampering with the devices.

You can expect this kind of supportive answer to come from him considering Ledger is probably THE most Shit Coin supportive Hardware Wallet out there.  But you can also not expect him to blame Ledger for what is thought to be a sale of counterfeit or tampered with Ledgers, as there is no evidence Ledger has any thing to do with that.

I personally do not like Ledger but I would not use this as a reason Ledger is bad.  That is like calling Under Armour a bad brand because there are Chinese knock offs sold at original retail price.
Although Trezo's reputation and trust precedes that of Ledger, because of some obvious reasons like the ones you mentioned but it's not enough to totally condemn Ledger wallet, it is still gaining ground despite some shortcomings including this recent drama that is surrounding it. As for CZ support for Ledger, I believe that he is entitled to his opinion, it is left for anyone who wants to use a hardware wallet to do their research and decide for themselves. I also quite agree that we cannot hold Ledger responsible yet for what a reseller sold to victims because it is quite clear that Ledger is not a part of the scam.

With that situation happened, I guess its best for Ledger to check their resellers. Because as what he have said it seems that there are still few people blaming them for the tampering happened in their devices.

Also as what I see in their site, they are selling bunch of hardware wallets https://www.cryptobilis.com.ph/hardware-wallets. So I think its best for people to check the other wallets bought from that seller.

I read the news in the forum, this thing profoundly undermines the trust that people can have in the project.
There wasn't much of it given the latest releases of both ledger and the hacks that have compromised people's privacy.
Very bad.

Right and Ledger is actually not the one been criticized with recent hacking, but rather their resellers.
They are partly responsible, blamed and criticized for it still. That's their product and it is their reseller. It's not a simple mishap and in the arrangement of partnership with their resellers, there's been a hole that they've missed and that's why they're also being criticized. With that incident, they'll need some restructuring for the partnership that they still trust and needs to be more strict which vendors they're going to approve.

Now what Mr CZ? Should we just forget the incident and move on? And also keep buying Ledger devices? Same logic should apply with cryptobilis and we should keep buying stuff from that store because things like this happen.
I found his post tone-deaf by saying that. It's okay if they have partnership long time ago and Ledger wallets have a lot of supported altcoins which are also listed in Binance but, he should have posted better than that.

CZ likes closed source, his Binance is closed source, Trust wallet the same, so I'm not surprised he's supporting ledger. From the reports, Ledger wasn't hacked of a truth, it was only tampered by the resellers, what we don't know is if the distributors themselves have a hand in the tampering. Even Trezor has had users data leaked, so none is a safe heaven in data preservation. I'll not be recommending ledger anytime soon. At least until it's clear how the tampering was established and how safe their wallet is after this saga. They really lost a lot of users trust and compromised devices have been identified in Europe as well.

Ledger posted about 21 hours ago.

72 hour update on reseller CryptoBilis incident  🔽

As the investigation continues, we are working with relevant authorities. The volume of impacted devices is limited. We know this is concerning, especially for those directly affected, and we are reaching out to impacted users.

To date, all confirmed cases related to the disclosed draining incident of Oct 9th, 2026, involve devices sold through the Southeast Asia reseller CryptoBilis. Our systems and direct sales channels remain unaffected.
We take the CryptoBilis situation seriously and are actively investigating.

We encourage impacted users to reach out to Ledger Support through official channels and file complaints with their local law enforcement authorities. As a reminder, CryptoBilis has confirmed having ceased all sales of hardware wallets.

We are reminding our authorized resellers and distributors to source products only through authorized channels and never to restock returned products.

Also, we strongly advise users not to purchase from unauthorized resellers, where the risk of buying suspicious, counterfeit or modified devices is important as nothing operates under ledger security guidelines.

Security isn’t static and this incident underscores why we continuously review and strengthen our distribution and anti-tamper processes.

We are continuously improving that work now and events like this strengthen our resolution: reviewing authorized reseller controls, advancing hardware protections, and cooperating with authorities. Thanks to @SEAL_911 for their collaborative support and all their efforts.

This is an ongoing threat that doesn’t just impact Ledger, but the whole ecosystem, and we are calling others in the space to work with us on making improvements for users.

We believe in jointly working with researchers, other vendors and partners on improving industry chain-of-custody practices and anti-tamper techniques. Raising the bar on physical supply-chain integrity benefits the entire ecosystem. If you have relevant information, contact security@ledger.com.

For CryptoBilis buyers: do not initialize unused devices. If already set up, move to a new seed on a device from Ledger. If you have concerns that your device was impacted by the CryptoBilis incident, please contact Ledger Support through the official site: http://support.Ledger.com.

Ledger Support is available 24/7 to answer your questions and concerns.

Scammers often try to take advantage of incidents like this. Rely only on official Ledger channels. Ledger will never call you, DM you, or ask for your 24-word recovery phrase.
It's a long post from Ledger because of this incident severity, and their reminder is right but I wonder did Ledger actually have similar reminder before this incident to all their Ledger resellers?

It's very important for Ledger reputation, operations of resellers, and vital of customer funds.

If they only reminded it hours ago, it's very late.

This means that all what CZ is supporting are close sources wallets. That means he is never encouraging newbies to go for an open source wallet that will be able to be transparent and have their full control of their crypto, he is encouraging centralization just like Binance because close source wallets can be referred to as exchanges even though private keys will be given out to wallet holders, but for the fact that they can’t control everything in the wallet, they are not safe. Open source wallets remains the best wallets to use, it come with less risks and also give you full control over our crypto holdings.

For me one thing I always pay more attention to is how a company handles a security incident when something bad occurs. Yes it's true that errors may occur, but what actually matters is how fast the company resolves the issue, notifies users and ensures that such mistakes do not repeat itself again.

Another important thing every user need to know is that only buying a hardware wallet is not a complete solution to all security issues. The next one is being sure that you are from a trusted source and remain wary of yourself when creating your wallet.  Most importantly even if a wallet may have a good reputation, that doesn't mean users should be careless, just because you feel the wallet is trustworthy or because a reputable person is saying good things about it.  And one thing people should know is that once trust is gone, it's hard to earn it back.

Don't know what is the reason why they do that. But I have a feeling that this is inside job.

Don't you know the reason why someone would tamper with a hardware wallet and install spy equipment to get that seed?

M is for Money, shiny and soft,
O is for Owning, the lambos we want,
N is for Needs, like hookers and blackjack,
E is for Earning, we need to earn that,
Y is for You, you got scammed!

Do I need to explain this better?

Open source wallets remains the best wallets to use, it come with less risks and also give you full control over our crypto holdings.

Yeah, like Coldcard! Good old trusty, unhackable open source!
