What concerns me is the jobs at the entry level, the president of Singapore said that there is already a decline in demand for some of these jobs. No one knows what's going to happen here, but i would rather educate myself on how to use these tools than freak out because of a headline, it is the same fud we see in the crypto world.
I believe this is the right reaction to the prediction of artificial intelligence taking most of the jobs because instead of waiting around debating the figures only for your job to be taken it is best you start trying to make yourself indispensable in your workplace by gaining additional skills and becoming more valuable.

I don't use AI in my workplace, because I'm a manual worker who doesn't need technology, and I believe AI reduces jobs in the technology sector in particular,
So manual workers can still learn to use Artificial intelligence to improve on their job. I will give some very good example and something you can easily notice.

- The automechanic who can now use artificial intelligence to diagnose the problem with a car instead of wild guessing as before, the interior designer now using Artificial intelligence to design home spaces etc

Bottom line is you do not need to say that you are involved in manual labor or a manual worker hence do not need artificial intelligence in any sense, you need to understand what you do and then see where artificial intelligence can come in and make you better at what you do already because that will give you an edge going forward

What IMF says is just to calm down people who feel worried AI will be taking their job. I personally don't even trust what IMF says after i saw so many companies are looking for the exp people to train AI for them. The point is that AI will still cut down the need for so many people to do the jobs.

AI will take people's job is just to make people to be scared, but that is far from the truth if they did not let people know that AI is also creating jobs.
I also saw this speculation about AI could create more jobs, but it's only a speculation. In fact, companies may be using AI for the automation and cost eficiency.  If such things happen, AI would be decreasing the jobs instead of increasing it. Look at self driving car who replaced taxi driver in some developed countries.

It's so crazy how AI can take over every humans job but yet humans are needed to train those AI, can someone help me make sense out of this? It's like AI has no brain but they need to borrow one to be really active.

AI should start learning things themselves not humans training them, if humans can say no to AI then it means that there will be no one training the AI and they will be useless and the jobs will be safe?

How many people are even asking this question?

There is no simple effect but the way people read news and comprehend at least initially can be the simple headline.   Its not the total impression people have but the fastest moving info is this one liner snippet of info which often is so far off base its not even correct.
Its why politics operates the way it does imo, empowered by ignorance almost seems to be the meta.

Its clear to me and just historically, any business or product which raises efficiency and productivity is going to be of benefit.  Creating jobs is a harder logical outcome to explain then the negatives, stealing jobs or work is far quicker to understand.

The biggest thing to establish is humans far outrank AI for capability, right now and even decades forward people are just so much more capable.   What AI will do best is highly repepitive or possibly dangerous work.  The easiest way I understand AI will propagate and is not a falsehood or bubble is that simple tasks and unused capability can be programmed into AI usage to stop wasted time.

We got to a point now in technology, hardware and software where inventions and capable systems are not used because people dont have the manual, they dont have the time left or the energy to understand all that is waiting to be used.  Creating a layer of AI to interface the tech waiting to be used so a person can switch it on like a light switch is going to empower mankind as a whole.

In sum total it wont significantly differ from the tractor or the digger that can push more dirt then a guy with a shovel, ultimately the man can learn to command the machine to his advantage and profit from it all.

Disruption short term I agree is quite possible for sure, like many things in these powerful economies we built.

This is the part most people will miss, machines make the work easier but that also meant most people had to lose their jobs and then look for alternatives ways to make a living, machines weren't bad but people still lost jobs because of them.
The same thing is happening with AI right, you either adapt to using AI to do your job or the market leaves you behind, just like machs, AI isn't bad but that doesn't magically remove the fact that people's jobs will be lost to it, will it also create jobs? Yes, but most of the older generations who lose their jobs to it will still not be able to do the new jobs it will need up creating.

Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, but Today is a gift, That is why it is called PRESENT!!!

However, the main problem here is that all individuals do not move in unison.
.. While AI might bring about like more employment opportunities and even make work easier for people, it also remains a reality that not all people will find themselves losing their jobs to the AI revolution. Some people don't have time, money or even the opportunity to get any training in the new technology, particularly those who are older and have been working in positions that are now done by AI technology. There's a need to move on, but leaving some people behind doesn't sound like a good plan.

It is nothing more than the typical tactic constantly used by the media.
Yeah, I agree, on the headline part. Most people just read the title and somewhere along the way "exposed" became "will take over".

I wouldn't say it's all manipulation though. Exposed is broad enough to be misinterpreted and a scarier headline will garner more clicks.

Yeah, it's pretty speculative. The IMF figures indicate which occupations could be affected, but do not necessarily reflect the number that will be lost. What I would watch would be entry-level jobs and the gap between rich and poor countries as this's where it may first manifest.

This is not a speculation, you can make research about jobs that AI have created and the job that has been lost to AI. As of today, the jobs that AI have created and also indirectly in total exceeded the total number of jobs that AI has displaced. So what many people were thinking about AI in the past few years ago are wrong.
AI will make some jobs relevant and some jobs obsolte but I also read that some research says AI will create x millions of jobs in the same development sector in the next 10 years so there is the balance and now it's left for the people to upgrade with the skills or the next gen employees will take over their jobs. SImply how evolutions works and it always worked like that.

The earlier the better for those that adapt it early, because some people are afraid that it will replace some jobs which I also agreed, but that will depend on people who don't care to get involved. When Google came all of this were said before, but look at it now it make us our work improved. Artificial intelligence does not appear to be a threat because with it a lot of things have become easier, those who don't care to participate or know about it will be the one to be replace, it has create a lot of jobs, check around the social media today, it helping them a lot and many people are making money from it.

Even now some people who want to work in programming simply can't find a job, or those who worked as programmers are currently losing their jobs because of AI, because it is replacing humans in more and more jobs. Unfortunately, that's how it is, technology is advancing, and the only jobs AI won't be able to replace are those that require skills, such as surgeons, doctors in general, people who work in some trades and similar. That's the future where a person will still depend only on themselves

It is said that when technology is advancing, humans should be able to also develop their skills to meet the demand of the changing technology. But in this case, I doubt if that is achievable with every work sector now wanting to rely on AI to make their work easier, faster and also have less manpower being used to reduce cost.

AI will compete with human for jobs, there is no two ways about it but the most fascinating part of it all is that, not all jobs will be replaced and can be done by AI. So also, as inventors of AI, they still have the ability to make a change, correct or make repairs and improve it when it has a fault that needs to be addressed. AI will compete and will dominate in some sectors no matter how human try to stop that.

I think this is an optimistic estimate, but I believe we still have a little more time before it becomes a reality. In other words, I don’t think we’ll reach these levels overnight. I think we’ll see a transition that happens step by step or wave by wave. On the other hand, there’s no doubt that many industries will be taken over by artificial intelligence in the near future. We all use AI today and see its potential up close. We all need to take steps now to shape our future. Instead of fighting this technology, we need to focus on the areas it can’t penetrate...

AI will take people's job is just to make people to be scared, but that is far from the truth if they did not let people know that AI is also creating jobs.

Do you already use AI in the workplace?
See AI like when computer was created. If you do not use it, you are missing a lot of things. Anyone that have not used AI before should test it and see how they work.

But I do not think there are anyone that are not using AI, especially the Large Language Model part of it. Almost everyone are using Google search, it is automatically seen on top of Google search results.
Lot like early computers, there are limitations on what it's useful for and where it's actually adding additional tasks and even security risks if you rely it on too much.

And about it creating more jobs, it creates new jobs like industrialism created new jobs. Those new jobs are going to be seen as "not real work" in eyes of people in this era. But before that, like in industrial era, ton of people will get kicked out from their jobs. Because when 2 persons with AI can do job of 50 people in same time, or even faster, why would they keep additional workforce?

But we don't yet know yet if this curve of progress is settling down or growing exponentially faster, so it's really hard to see what's happening. Experts will still be needed as we can't trust AI about some subjects we don't understand ourselves.

Maybe specialists doctors will be there to oversee but already we are seeing more machinery involved in all kind of surgery and what if we just automate it and give instructions to the machine which can do it even better if we develop it as a complete device. But other fields such as agriculture already gone through the process, before 100 years people doing most of the work but now just a couple person can take care of huge corn field with the help of machine and guess what humans survived the changes so they will.

Quote
almost 40 percent of global employment is exposed to AI
IMF predicts AI will take over 40% of all jobs.[/b]

This is the headline that's being circulated, and it is not what the IMF said. They estimated nearly 40% of jobs are exposed to AI, and Georgieva said in Bangkok that over time these jobs might be enhanced, downgraded or eliminated. Only one of the three is eliminated, take over is a stretch, lol.

According to the IMF's own analysis, half of the exposed jobs may actually gain from AI, while the other half could experience lower wages and less hiring. It also affects the most developed economies the most, with 60% of jobs exposed, compared to roughly 25% in low income countries, as AI is not just after the routine jobs.

What concerns me is the jobs at the entry level, the president of Singapore said that there is already a decline in demand for some of these jobs. No one knows what's going to happen here, but i would rather educate myself on how to use these tools than freak out because of a headline, it is the same fud we see in the crypto world.

Do you already use AI in the workplace?

Well writers in the media love to hype up any story they can and "AI is taking yer jobs" is an easy way to spice up this headline. It gets people clicking through and reading their content which translates into money they make from advertising. Seeing the pace that AI is being deployed and the extent of it's reach its not actually unthinkable that it could replace an even larger pool of jobs than it already does. There are massive industries like customer services or even graphics designers who are getting replaced right now because - these are sectors that employ many millions of people but can be shrunk massively. It's going to make competition for jobs much harder in future and maybe entry level roles - things like supermarket workers - will have highly educated people applying for such positions just to get some money to pay bills after they're laid off from other sectors.

This is true, with some qualifications. Its probably not going to be only doctors and skilled tradespeople who will be safe from AI. And programming jobs arent going to disappear either, but its quite possible that firms will need fewer programmers to perform an equivalent amount of work.

What concerns me, though, is that even if AI increases opportunities overall, that transition may still be painful for a lot of people. New jobs are not necessarily going to be taken up by those who lose theirs. A programmer isnt going to become an electrician or a surgeon tomorrow morning. Learning new skills takes time and money. It will be interesting to see whether people are able to adapt fast enough to deal with changes in the market.

Do you already use AI in the workplace?

How is the spread of AI in your state? Do all company employees still have their jobs? I'm sure that, many of them have lost their jobs. And according to that statistic many more. What do you think, is it possible to develop oneself effectively according to the characteristics of artificial intelligence? For example: you will conventionally fail to advance the IQ of ten people. But artificial intelligence is becoming skilled according to the scope of thinking and knowledge of a million million people.

In the garment factories of my state, work is being done using robotic-like hands, and live videos are being made regularly. Through these videos, AI robots will have job opportunities in the future.

It is not exactly like a computer. With computers, you have a core usage of reliable calculation and data storage; with AI, it is predictive. You should have noticed by now the amount of mistakes it produces with the queries you have made so far. AI will respond confidently, but it will be fundamentally wrong. Anyone who has used it will face this at least once. You can argue that it is relatively new and hence it will take time to produce perfect results, but I believe that even in the future, you are bound to see these mistakes often.

It could replace some jobs and provide a benefit to companies, as they will only hire a minimal number of employees. Since the majority of the heavy lifting can be done by AI, you will still need specialists to verify and check everything.

~
Maybe specialists doctors will be there to oversee but already we are seeing more machinery involved in all kind of surgery and what if we just automate it and give instructions to the machine which can do it even better if we develop it as a complete device. But other fields such as agriculture already gone through the process, before 100 years people doing most of the work but now just a couple person can take care of huge corn field with the help of machine and guess what humans survived the changes so they will.
The chances of AI completely taking over surgery are none. Using AI will aid a surgeon in making precision cuts and making decisions during a surgery, but it will not be able to make decisions on its own, do everything, and conduct a surgery without a specialist doctor present. No hospital will take a risk that could jeopardize its reputation.

Do you already use AI in the workplace?

Lets be honest now, there are some jobs that AI already has eyes for and it isn't any useful still having people do them like personal assistant that AI can do perfectly for you in reminding you about meetings, appointments etc that you have scheduled with accuracy and not having any human error but 40% that's too much of jobs to be lost and even though it happens not on the first fee years of time but probably in the far future. AI aren't even ready to take on all this responsibility and we haven't developed them enough but that could happen in the future but if you upgraded your skills then you'll be useful and not he threaten by AI replacing you. There are jobs that aren't necessary anymore but we have those of high values that we can't  replace with AI irrespective of how we develop these AI to become.

Yes, someone is there to see it and even command the operation of the steps involved in it but without doing the surgery himself, and future is uncertain so we can't think this will never happen. If we just go back to 50 years and say in future people will be using a small device that almost holds the entire world in it and libraries, watches, calculators and hundred other gadgets will become worthless then people would have laughed but now it is happening already.
