We have had some discussions very similar to this one and also series of discussion about wagering requirements that players preferred, the reason why some gamblers do not chase after bonus is because of the difficult wagering requirements that some casinos usually set, a lot of players already knows all of these things and based on what someone said before, he said that the reason why some casinos set these kind of bonus is not because they want the players to win but they just want to attract more customers and also entice some players to keep gambling which means they will lose more. Personally, I am always relying on my deposit, I am the least person that chase after bonus, unless it's a cash bonus.

The problem is that you is not calculating the probability of the bettor being able to complete the rollover with the initial $200, because who run out of balance before that usually would not wager the $4k, so if you only consider those who manage to complete this requirement, then you are also selecting players with more favorable trajectories.
Spot-on about survivorship bias. Most balances bust within the first 500–800 spins, so players rarely generate that full $4k turnover on a single deposit. The $160 figure is strictly the theoretical barrier the casino sets up. It ensures that even if you catch a hot streak early, the house edge is mathematically calibrated to bleed your run dry before you ever clear the bar. Considering that we are playing risky slots with already risky wagering requirements, "max win/max claimable rule" is the insult!
Max cashout limits are the dirtiest clause in the book. Busting 9 out of 10 bonuses is bad enough, but hitting a 2000x multiplier against all odds, grinding through the 40x rollover, and then having customer support chop your balance down to a flat $200 max cashout is pure robbery. At that point, the rollover isn't even the real catch—the cap is.

OP, I have had this thought in the past before. This was why I stopped chasing after bonuses because I know some of the bonuses aren't what we think they are, some are just trap for you to fall into. But I don't bother myself with such bonuses because I know there definitely would be some requirements to fulfill before you can be able to take such bonuses.
Bonuses are not always as easy as we think, so it's better not to chase them because there will definitely be something you would regret at the end. Many gamblers have experienced something they didn't expect from these bonus offers and ended up losing extra money in the casino, so we shouldn't get carried away with them because there is no way a casino would give you something without getting a huge return from it. Bonuses are always a good business and marketing strategy by the casinos so I am not surprised seeing any casino doing such because they want traffic but the truth is that such comes with requirements and it must be met before some bonuses can be claimed. Some gamblers still do not understand the tricks behind these bonuses given out by casinos, they think it's an opportunity to take advantage of not knowing that the casino too have their own target to make more profit for themselves through such bonus offer.

I've been looking at the math behind casino welcome bonuses, and some of these offers really aren't as generous as they seem. Say you deposit $100 and get a $100 bonus with 40x wagering. That's $4,000 you need to wager before clearing the bonus. Now assume you're playing slots with 96% RTP: $4,000 × 4% house edge = $160 expected loss So you're basically chasing a $100 bonus with $160 in theoretical losses. Obviously, actual results vary-some players get lucky, others lose everything before finishing the rollover. And that's before considering game contribution rates, max bet limits, or casinos that calculate wagering on deposit + bonus combined. Makes me wonder how many players actually check these numbers before accepting a bonus. Do you guys still bother with 30x–50x wagering offers, or just skip them entirely? I never bother with 30x-40x wagering I always gamble with low x amount of bets because I don't think of any way to make money from gambling I always gamble with small amounts of money and gamble for fun so I don't need to use high x. Those who gamble to make money can probably do 30x-40x amount. Also I never chase after bonuses because I think bonuses are just a waste of time.

I do not think most people really check the bonuses this deeply. Which might even be the point in order to prevent cheating/hacking/whatever.... And obviously an online casino is a business, so the entire point of giving out bonuses is to make more money than they "give out". It's just marketing. I do not chase bonuses because of this very reason. But it is nice to get them.

We are not talking about the casino, it's about gamblers we know that the bonuses given out by casinos is just a way of getting people to join their platforms and also make those gamblers who are already betting on their platforms not to think about leaving that particular casino to a different one. Of course I have seen gamblers who say they can't leave their favorite casino to a different one and this is due to the features they have and also the bonus offer, as for me I don't care to know the casino that gives highest bonus rather, what I'm more concern about is Their reputation.

I actually never participate in these types of bonus campaigns where there is a wagering requirement above 5x. Because I think completing wagering requirements above 5x is kind of impossible things. And those who can do this are truly lucky. I didn't really pay attention to these things before, but now when I see a new casino offering a bonus, I first look at the details of their bonus, and if there are such typical terms as 40x wagering, a max cashout could be $1000 and also with capital 10x. Then I'll put that casino or bonus on my ignore list. However, I think most new gamblers still participate in deposit bonuses without taking these things into account.

Because there are some gamblers that can manage to complete the 20x wagering requirements, and I know, it doesn't mean everyone can do the same. But that is exactly how bonuses are designed and created. It's not basically a free money, but you need to meet their conditions to claim it.

I think the real issue is that many a lot of gamblers focus more on the bonus amount without that they pay little to no attention on the conditions attached to actually withdrawing the bonus. Factors like the wagering requirements, withdrawal condition and game restrictions can actually make an opportunity that ordinarily appeared very attractive to become less valuable than it initially seemed. The main purpose of bonus is to attract and retain players, so it’s crucial for gamblers to always read through the terms and conditions attached to the bonuses before jumping on them like they’re everything that matters, because in the long run, the ones who actually do benefit from the outcomes of these bonuses are the casinos and rarely the players.

$4,000 × 4% house edge = $160 expected loss So you're basically chasing a $100 bonus with $160 in theoretical losses. Tbh $160 is the optimistic number here. first thing i'd check is whether the 40x counts on the bonus only or on deposit + bonus, because a lot of casinos do the second one and then you're looking at $8k turnover and around $320 expected loss for a $100 bonus lol And the average doesn't tell you much anyway. with $200 on a high volatility slot most people just bust way before they get anywhere near $4k, the "average" only looks ok because a few guys hit something big. Add a $5 max bet and you're stuck doing 800+ spins minimum, no way to speed it up the thing that actually kills it for me is max cashout on bonus wins. Even if you get lucky and clear it they cap what you can withdraw. I read that line before i even look at the wagering. Also if you're playing with btc your balance is moving with the price the whole time you grind. at least with USDT your 100 stays 100 and you're only fighting the house edge I basically ignore anything over 30x unless there's no cashout cap

I always skip those because in my few attempts, i've never been lucky enough to clear 40x. Even if they reduced the requirement by half, I would still avoid them. I'd rather have the freedom to withdraw my deposit anytime than chase a bonus that could encourage me to spend more than a single deposit. However, I think most new gamblers still participate in deposit bonuses without taking these things into account.
With the wagering requirements usually being hidden, it's probably that easy for them to trick gamblers into grabbing these bonuses.

With the wagering requirements usually being hidden, it's probably that easy for them to trick gamblers into grabbing these bonuses. The requirements for claiming the bonuses are not usually hidden. If only all gamblers always take their time to read the bonus terms before immediately claiming the offer and start playing, they can avoid having misunderstanding about the requirements they need to finish before withdrawing. If it is intended to be hidden and the casino is using tricky or shady tactics to take advantage of the players, that's a red flag for a casino which should be avoided.

Unless you are really that big of a whale and can reach that "X" wagering requirements. But for just average and moderate gamblers like the rest of us, it might be better to just skip it entirely.
Yeah, new players fall for that inflated balance every time. Even for whales it's annoying because of the $5 max bet limits. You're forced to grind thousands of small spins anyway, so the house edge catches up with you regardless of your bankroll. Playing raw cash without any bonuses attached is definitely the way to go. Even I agree that opting bonuses is not a preferred way of gambling for most gamblers, there are veteran players who know how to fulfil all the requirements of bonuses and getting eligible to withdraw bonuses along with incurred profits. I mean, whether it is a 40x or 50x wagering requirement for your bonuses, if you have cracked the secret way of gambling, then you can go for it, otherwise just playing with your own bankroll is highly recommended. Personally, I have cleared wagering requirements twice to withdraw bonuses + profits. At the same time, I have failed to fulfil many times in between attempts. Honestly I have not cracked that secret still I guess that I will try it any more due to my current hectic schedule. As of now, gambling is just a time pass for me, no other commitment with it.

Until people start reading that casino require those who get bonus to wager 30-50x, and people keep on losing money while trying and complaining, we will keep having such similar topics. Until people stop thinking that casino wants to give them money for nothing, we will keep having discussions about size of wagering. From time to time I think that everyone who has accepted a bonus is casino and failed to meet wagering requirement, will make a topic here about how unfair requirements are. Sometimes I think that casinos make those requirements high on purpose. From the start they did not plan to give money, but that bonus is like a attractive banner where people only notice +100% to deposit.

Many people simply see what they want to see specifically the word "bonus" and convince themselves they’ll definitely manage to clear the wagering requirements, even though every player thinks exactly the same way. I decided to take the opposite approach: I treat the money as if it’s already lost and focus entirely on approaching the wagering process sensibly and deliberately. Of course, I’m used to playing with my own money and not relying on bonuses while I won’t turn one down if the opportunity arises, if the wagering requirement is something like 40x, I’ll simply pass on it with a clear conscience.

Bros, I'm not that stupid to say we still need to meet 1x turnover requirement for the winnings we have got. Please try to understand what I said again, it is clear that the exemption regarding the 1x turnover requirement for AML purposes always applies to the deposit amount, doesn't it?
I also have a useful piece of information for you regarding that 1x turnover requirement, not all sites enforce it. Duelbits is one such site, when you want to make a withdrawal, the minimum requirement is simply to wager 10% of your deposit amount, rather than the 100% required by most mainstream sites.
Oh my bad, I may not have understood what you said earlier. But now it's clear to me. Anyway, I heard about Duelbits a few days ago from the forum that they have a 10% turnover requirement for the deposited money. Thanks for the information though. But I think all casinos should have 10% rollover. That way, if someone hits a jackpot before rolling over the same amount as the deposited money, they can withdraw it. CMIIW, in the last line.

As for Duelbits, we can confirm that directly from their Terms of Service page, here is the quote: 5. FINANCIAL TERMS & ON-SITE CREDITS 5.1. Non-Financial Institution Status: The Company is not a bank or financial institution. Funds deposited are for the sole purpose of wagering. No interest will be paid on any balances, regardless of the duration they are held.
5.2. On-site Credits: Duelbits utilizes "On-site Credits" as a medium for wagering. These credits are traded for objects of value (Cryptocurrencies, Steam Skins, etc.). By purchasing/trading for credits, you acknowledge they have no "real world" value outside the ecosystem of the Website except when redeemed via the withdrawal process.
5.3. Wagering Requirement: To ensure the integrity of the Service and to prevent the platform from being utilized for non-gaming purposes, all deposited funds must be subject to a minimum wagering requirement of ten percent (10%) of the deposit amount before a withdrawal can be initiated.
5.4. Error in Pricing: The Company reserves the right to void or cancel any wager in the event of a 'Palpable Error' (an obvious mistake in the published odds, pay table, or game software). In such instances, the Company will aim to restore the Player's balance to the state it was in prior to the error occurring. Refund eligibility is determined by the Company’s internal compliance team, and affected Players will be notified of the correction via the Website’s internal messaging or email.
Each site has its own policies & I’m sure the 1x turnover AML rule is the standard. However, I also agree that if all sites required 10% wager of the deposit amount before allowing withdrawals, it would certainly make things easier for players. We will also see many players who are better able to control their gambling gameplay.

I will pass on a 20X wagering requirement, what then about a 40X requirement? That is just the casinos creating false hope for gamblers. I don't bother activating the bonuses most times, my focus is on my deposits. I'm okay with completing my 1X rollover and withdrawing profits from my real balance. Gamblers who take priority in completing the 40X wagering requirement on any bonuses are showing desperation for profits. If it isn't about using the bonuses to test the site, any other motive is a waste, majority of gamblers don't even make a dollar in rewards from the bonus.

However, I admit that my experience is not the same for everyone, but even if the difference in results depends on everything from the even games to the RTP, strategy and emotion, still it is an open secret that very few players can complete wagering up to 30X or 40X. Because there are some gamblers that can manage to complete the 20x wagering requirements, and I know, it doesn't mean everyone can do the same. But that is exactly how bonuses are designed and created. It's not basically a free money, but you need to meet their conditions to claim it.
I'm not sure if I asked you to show me an example, as some users on this forum have been able to withdraw their funds including the bonus by completing more than 30X wager, how many people can you show there? If you ask me this question, I can't actually show you a single one because I haven't seen anyone who has completed the requirement up to 30X. And that is why I said it was kindda impossible things.

I've been looking at the math behind casino welcome bonuses, and some of these offers really aren't as generous as they seem.
Say you deposit $100 and get a $100 bonus with 40x wagering. That's $4,000 you need to wager before clearing the bonus.
It has always like the bonus offers in the casinos or betting platforms has a hidden aim of how it'd bring additional profits for the organization. And there's no way the owners of these betting companies would see that bonus offers to be more favourable to players and they'll ignorantly adopt investing in that same market they can't at all secure higher chances as the house edges. The bonuses to me is more for marketing and luring gamblers. So obviously anyone that still considers the bonus offers interesting without undermining the risks, especially that of wagering requirements and KYC requirements at the end before you can spend your bonus offers.
