In this REPORT Illinois has seen rise in tax revenue but also according to the report bettors in Illinois were not having much luck with their bets but the government were gaining through tax.

With this growth in revenue that the government are getting through tax on gambling the gambling sector is not going anywhere even though some see gambling as a problem.

To bettors people like myself see gambling as fun but others see it as business but certainly to the government it is seen as a source of revenue. What are your thoughts.

Gambling is never a problem right from the start, it's just that people are letting greedy overshadow their sense of reasoning, and because of that, they went all in without looking at the side effect of it. It is primarily designed to be as a source of fun to the common man, but some people start seeing it as a means of making money, which is the root cause of the problem most gamblers are experiencing in our society today.

 The government are only exploiting the economical side of it, in terms of tax collection, not that they are even gambling, but if gamblers can go back to the main essence of gambling, which is just for fun, a gamblers will hardly runs into troubles while gambling.

I would not see as something to easy to answer and to understand at least with few data and variance based on locations. If you include also variance based on personal taste or just cultural bias it could be something really hard to predict.
There are most of the times "hidden costs" likewise hours of job loss or other health costs. Governement can just pokecting these taxes and not spending for mitigate issues for pathological gambling or other similar issues (just to mention educational event or similar)
Bitcoin and other crypto have the advantage to be used online without border or even limitations of items you can bet. Still we haven't a pure p2p market completely decentralized but it's evident this could become just an evolotion of gambling.
It not means would be an advantage for anyone but likewise all innovations we have seen, it could create more competitions or just mitigate the spread between different markets.

Of course, for casino owners it's business and also for some gamblers because I have heard gamblers who take gambling as a job. It has always been a source of revenue for the government which is why those countries that banned gambling initially, uplifted the ban after they have seen what the government is missing from the gambling industry.

 From onset, gambling was for entertainment but due to laziness and hardship, it has become an escape root out of poverty and that's why the rate of new gamblers is increasing likewise, the rate of addiction.

Government earns money from gambling sites, this is because the people in the government are gambling friendly, they understand gambling and wont shut it down because even if they decides to ban it people will still look for away of how they can get a site for themselves.  The best decision for government to take is to regulate gambling and this will even have a positive impact and the government can still generate income from it. Well, it's always a choice for every gambler. If the winning rate is very low and the tax revenue is getting high because of it, then I think a gambler can question the RTP of the online casinos that are licensed and regulated by the government because it's not fair anymore.

Well , government are also making a lot of money from gambling site,so it's not a new thing ,so it's certainly profitable to government, many of us sees gambling as fun while others sees it as business and a place  where profit it's been made ,and those casino owners are also making a lot from gambling,so generally, gambling is profitable, but many allow greed to take over them which lead to addiction most time ,that is why gambling is seen as evil game ,while we are actually the cause of it , normally it is supposed to be for entertainment and fun ,but look at where we are now because of greediness.

If they take bribes from these sites, then they must be making a profit from it or they can earn money from gambling on a case-by-case basis. Although this is an example like there is a gambling den outside a house and they are running the gambling den there by taking bribes and government employees are involved in it. If the government can earn money by employing its people in this work, I have not found any specific report for it yet. The government can earn money from anything, they are afraid of their own earnings, so there may be possibilities that they earn money from gambling by taking bribes or by playing themselves. As far as I think they are earning money only as bribes and there is no government involved in this either, but their employees may be involved.

Gambling is different things to different gamblers, some engage in it for entertainment, some are to replace boredom while majority are for making money, they see it as where they will win big and become rich, all the gamblers are taking big risks. But unfortunately, the government collects taxes but does not build proper facilities for prevention and rehabilitation for gambling addicts. As it grows, you will see how people in power also take advantage of it, such as creating their own gambling businesses or protecting illegal gambling from being exposed.
