16 years later, how easy is to buy a pizza with Bitcoin?

We all know the story of the pizza, not doing to delve deeper here..

After the whole debate about how and what and whom paid for it on another topic, since obviously no pizza place was accepting Bitcoin for payments, I started wondering: it's been 16 years now, have things really changed and how much so let's run a survey on how the economy has evolved:

Questions, none mandatory, but keep the useless quota spam away:
- Can you buy a pizza with BTC and have it delivered to your house?
- Where you live (country, city, whatever you are comfortable sharing) and praise the Pizzeria that accepts BTC let's do some free advertising for them!
- Have you actually ever bought a pizza with BTC ?

Note: When I say with BTC, it means with BTC, no debit card funded with BTC, no prepaid card bought with BTC

I won't have any problems buying pizza with Bitcoin, but I am yet to see any pizza house around me that allows the use of Bitcoin as payment, although I have done something almost similar, I bought pizza from a person who works in such company, it was actually fun as he delivered it himself, and we discussed about the opportunity the company would have if they start accepting Bitcoin as payment.

It's actually possible to buy pizza with Bitcoin in my region and have it delivered to your doorstep but....

- Where you live (country, city, whatever you are comfortable sharing) and praise the Pizzeria that accepts BTC let's do some free advertising for them!

I've not been able to get via Bitcoin payment because of the complicated walkarounds and the extra transaction fees. I usually use P2P to covert to local currency and seamlessly buy pizza even when there's Bitcoin payment method.

I've never bought pizza using BTC before but maybe for the fun of it or probably for the records, I'll be doing that anytime from now.

1) I'm in NY so not directly where I live so no delivery here. But I have bought in other locations with them.
1a) There are a few places that I have been to in other states that have taken BTC at the POS using Square so I have no idea if you could get it delivered.

Laszlo Hanyecz through that pizza buy in 2010 succeeded in making pizza a memorable part of Bitcoin history even when it wasn't his primary idea. In my locality, there's no pizza vendor that allows customers to pay with Bitcoin, at least to the best if my knowledge. I believe that one day, we'll get to a point we can easily order pizza with Bitcoin just like they do it with ease using cash and bank cards today.

I live in one of the major cities in my country, and I called my regular pizza vendor to ask if they accept payment in bitcoin; they don't.

I did a search to see if there are any pizza vendors around my location that accept payment in BTC for pizza.

16 years after the first purchase with Bitcoin, one would expect that that would be very common by now, but it is not the case, and I can't say I am surprised because it is mainly due to regulations from the government, not that people around me don't know about Bitcoin.

I have not seen any pizzeria that accept Bitcoin for payment yet. It's kind of rare in my country. Even restaurants don't accept such payments for service.

But it would have been worth the trial. Since Laszlo's purchase I'm sure there would have been many other pizza purchases that didn't make the news too.

Adoption and volatility are still issues with Bitcoin.

People are more willing to offer users payment for such services to Bitcoin because of it's stable nature. Regulations only play a little role in some countries where cryptocurrency is not restricted.

It was possible and easier to purchase many things with Bitcoin 10 years than it is now, probably in most parts of the World.  I do not think I could have purchased particularly a pizza back then, and I can not now for sure.

I've bought a few pizzas for Bitcoin over the years.  I feel like it used to be much easier about 10 years ago but I can't remember the service that I used to use to order Dominos.  I think at some point I just started using gift cards because it was easier.  Now there are lots of options to get gift cards to buy stuff from pretty much anywhere, but I am not sure if there's any place that directly lets you spend BTC for pizza anymore.  That sort of niche service I think went out of business during the block wars.

No, I haven’t but would love the chance to do that if it ever happens. My country (Nigeria) is populated with young people who have interest in bitcoin but not necessarily as a currency rather as an investment. That’s why businesses here do not see the value in accepting bitcoin as a payment because customers who are bitcoin savvy only want to hodl.

I am from Belgium.

Forget about big commercial pizzerias here, they are so preoccupied with government tax and fiat currency that crypto is alien to them.

To my knowledge or local search I can't find any pizzerias big or small that sell pizza directly in bitcoin catalog. If any remain, they are so hidden that finding them is as difficult as peeling an onion. So there is no pizzeria name in my mouth to do free advertising!

I went to a Pizza Hut like six weeks ago. They wanted cash or mobile money, and cards wouldn't work.

Nevertheless, it was the best pizza I've had in a while, until a few weeks later when I had mine with a side of chicken wings at a Debonairs'. What I was missing all this time!

Buying pizza with Bitcoin is now very easy. Because the adoption of Bitcoin has increased a lot all over the world, so if the owner of the pizza shop knows about Bitcoin, then he will take Bitcoin as payment and give the pizza. But in my country, it is still not an easy matter. Because Bitcoin is still illegal in my country, no shopkeeper can openly offer anyone to pay through Bitcoin. However, the people of my country are very familiar with Bitcoin, so if the pizza shopkeeper is secretly offered Bitcoin as payment, I don't think he will refuse. But to be honest, I have not tried this yet. Because since it has not been legalized in my country yet, discussing this issue publicly may not be good.

The nearest one for me is to go to Malaysia, there is a Pizza shop that accepts BTC onchian and LN payments, but I myself have never been to the country.

I guess this thread is as a result of the statement which @stompix made when he claimed Lazlo didn't buy the 2 pizza with Bitcoin, but rather the bitcoin was sent to Jeremy who later bought it with credit card in 2010. And to be honestly speaking, I too was very surprised hearing the exact true story behind the Bitcoin Pizza trade which took place in 2010. And fast forward to today, I can still confidently say that I haven't seen any Pizza shop who officially states that they accept Bitcoin or crypto in general as it's official means of payment. But still that doesn't mean if you walk into such pizza shops, tha you won't see one or two workers in that place that might accept the payment in Bitcoin and they buy immediately with their personal credit cards for you. And if any of my  Nigerian brothers could figure out any of such pizza shop in Nigeria, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I will be waiting...!!

Nah, my gov will probably come to my house in full armor and drag me from my house if they find that I used Bitcoin to buy something. That shitty gov is just so sensitive when someone uses something other than fiat to buy something --- they will treat you like a criminal if they find you don't prioritize their fiat. Honestly, buying pizza with bitcoin can be a trend observed once in a while probably a reminder about past story concerning the famous purchase of pizza using bitcoin by Laszlo.
I know someone who’s into crypto trading and knows about bitcoin, he own a fast food pizza and ice cream restaurant. Funny enough bitcoin is not part of payment method, I realized majority of bitcoin enthusiast are willing to purchase using bitcoin as a payment method meanwhile the ones In charge of the business don’t consider bitcoin as part of a normal payment method probably due to volatile market condition, if I ever come across a pizza spot accepting bitcoin definitely I don’t mind paying with bitcoin.

No, because Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies are not yet legal or regulated in our country. They are not prohibited, we can use exchange platforms and everything, but there are no legal laws or regulations yet, which is important for businesses and merchants to start accepting crypto as payments. So I don't think it's possible for me to buy pizza with Bitcoin in my country or where I live.

I live in Pakistan, and as I mentioned, I know of no pizzeria or any other business that accepts Bitcoin in our country.

 It will not be difficult but I just feel that most businesses in my country, especially those selling pizza will only accept Bitcoin as payment once they see it's something that most of their competitors are making use of. Nothing inspires or moves people like knowing that there's a competition.

The reason why digital coins cannot be used to buy pizza is that it help to sustain business capital flow. It may seem like people show their commitment by buying pizza with history behind them, but it is essential for managers of the restaurants to estimate probability of the daily cost of good. Sharp volatility in coin price make it impossible to have stable price for customer who order pizzas regularly. It is the way how the owner acts responsibly while keeping his business separate from the market.
