This is horrible news and as much as I hate to say it, smells of an inside job. They just teamed up with Stevewilldoit to advertise this casino to a huge audience with rewards for deposits. That was just a matter of weeks ago. I hope Steve doesn’t get stung too much from this and the casino is able to recover funds.
Hmm, considering with recent hack event for both exchange and casino I believe this is a targeted hacking from the same organization that already know how to exploit the current security of online services such as casino and exchange. Inside job will be very risky for the person involved considering that the hacked funds will be heavily under monitoring while his job already paying him good sum of money regardless of this hacking event.

Sad news for Gamdom as that's a big amount that was hacked. So I was interested and tried to research this using Arkham Intelligence. Now I have a clearer picture as to where the funds were going, not sure if this covers the entire amount but you can verify it yourselves. Just head to the website, search for Gamdom, head over to Transfers, filter the dates from October 12 to 15, click Outflow, and filter the destination using Gamdom Exploiter, you will see those outflows from Gamdom's wallets to addresses labeled as belonging to the hacker. Sample of the page below. (it's 7 pages)

Criminals have become very active lately. It’s possible that AI is being used in the hacks. Bill Gates recently spoke about this dangerous trend. In just the last few weeks, this is the second major casino hack after the Duelbits hack; the Bitget exchange was hacked; and there was an attack on NEAR. However, I don’t see lawmakers stepping up. From whom one could at least expect tougher penalties or the inclusion of AI use as an aggravating factor (of course, the criminals still need to be caught, but still...)

How would you expect lawmakers to step in here. Their job is just to create laws, not to implement them. If they see this kind of trend becoming so dangerous already, as evidenced by previous hacks where millions of dollars were lost, then they need to understand first how these hacks happen and how to prevent them through the laws they will make. I think what's more important here is that casinos should strengthen their security and operations rather than wait for a law, as losing this kind of amount is too painful and there's no guarantee that another hack won't happen again.

This year didn't end with the Duelbits hack only, another online casino was hacked: According to a post on X, Gamdom noticed a hack targeting their hot wallet system and took action to stop the leak; in total, they lost just over $3 million due to the hack and moved the remaining funds from their hot wallets to cold wallets. These guys had a signature campaign on our forum earlier.~ I’ve always said that a crypto casino with no sig campaign on our forum isn’t worth much. Gamdom had because they are big. For a big company losing $3 million is nothing, so, their users won't be affected. As for the hackers, I hope they get what they deserve. And I’m not talking about prison time in Denmark — I wish the absolute worst possible on scum like them.

Lucky they were able to stop it on time and move their remaining balance to their cold storage. I hope they can come back online as soon as possible, like they said, and update on their X official page. Which casino is going to be next? Or should the casino now leave the minimum amount on their hot wallet and be handling withdrawals manually in order to stay safe from these hackers? But that’s going to be boring and slow for players. Not just a signature but the casino is among some of the oldest around here even as they where no longer active in this forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5081772.0I think we should wait for the official announcement before concluding that the gambling site has been hacked. What was seen from Gandom was unauthorized connection on one of their automation servers.
Is this not confirmed enough? a statement from their founder Long story short, we noticed a breach attacking our hot wallet system & we took measures to stop the drain, in total we lost just over $3m to the breach and secured other hot wallet funds to our cold wallets https://x.com/Romer/status/2110411281350230457I am not going to call $3 million hack lucky, there is nothing lucky about the money lost because that's a lot of money and it will take time for them to bounce back, this casino isn't as popular like Bitsler or Stake, if care is not applied they can start going down from here on, this is a massive loss. Online casinos are not going to start facing a lot of threat than before, it seems they are easier to hack than crypto exchanges, this will affects their businesses as they will have to spend more money on platform security, AI got us here, it makes hacking far faster and easier than before, this is not a defeat. It's a calling to all online casinos.

Well as they say you don't invest a lot of money in cybersecurity until a cyber breach happens and here we are yet again another hack. I know that even with the best cyber defense 0 day exploits still exist yet they are not that common on targeting cryptocurrencies related businesses. Well it is a good thing they stopped it but 3 million dollars is not a small amount even for one of the oldest casinos here. Personally I think the hot wallets should be in places very well guarded from an IT perspective talking, then these incidents will stop happening unless they are some insiders job.

Of course, casinos can strengthen their security measures, but laws also need to be tightened regarding crimes involving the use of AI. Otherwise, there will simply be a tsunami of such crimes. Such crimes must be punished very severely. After all, sooner or later it will come to hacking banks, and then the consequences will be far more severe than hacking a casino. Simply increasing security measures is an endless and very costly race.

However, the fact that they manage to stop the attack and minimize the amount of their losses to nearly $4M and protect the remaining funds shows that they can still recover and avoid facing their own casino's downfall. It is still a massive loss, but it doesn't mean an end for them. The important thing right now is they reassure users that their funds are safe, and they are making a move to take the necessary actions to prevent the same incident.

AI is making things easier for these hackers, they can detect vulnerability with speed of light compared to the past time where it can take weeks or months for hackers to detect a passageway to steal funds.
This is a call out to all online casinos that things aren't always going to be the same for online business, they should start considering tight security measures from now on, it will get them spending extra money but it's better than losing big amount of money.

I don't think there is much that the lawmakers can do in this regard because they cannot just tell online casinos and exchanges not to include the use of AI for efficient outputs, the responsibility of securing their data is specifically their responsibilities. The casinos cannot hold lawmakers accountable for their loses in these recent hacks or the ones done in the past except their are evidence that lawmakers are part of the hack teams. In such cases they would go after the lawmakers not the legislative arm of government. Focus for these online platforms should be on how to be ahead of these hackers, put strong security measures in place so that they won't be the next victims.

Since Gamdom is still offering services, it means they still control the situation. Hope they overcome this challenge. We are in scary times when artificial intelligence is used to identify system loopholes and exploit them ( I have no idea if it was used in the Gamdom hack). The AI sector needs to be regulated because it is moving at a fast pace.

Online casinos are often hacked, which is not new. Some casinos can recover after the hack, while others lose that ability. One positive aspect about Gamdom is that they only lost $3 million due to the hack and they were able to safely move the rest of the assets into cold storage. Removing the remaining funds from the hackers is definitely a big positive factor for the site. In the meantime, the site has informed that they will be back soon. The developers of the site were able to quickly detect the hack and transfer the remaining funds otherwise they were at risk of losing all their assets. While it is true that just because the platform is ready to use does not mean that the site is completely safe from hackers, they must monitor everything with the utmost caution.

It is indeed sad to hear that casino hacking news keeps happening. The last time I heard, from Duelbits casino, they also stopped operations for a few days, fixed the system, and replenished their wallets. Whatever amount was taken by the hackers, this shows that there are still gaps in the system that need to be continuously closed to reduce the risk of hacking in the future. Some gamblers might not care, but others might look for casinos that are considered safer.

These guys had a signature campaign on our forum earlier. Three million dollars is certainly a painful loss, but I don't think it should be a fatal hack for a casino. If you remember Duelbits, I believe they were hacked twice, around $5 million was stolen in 2024, and another $7 million this year. And if we also remember the Stake hack in 2023, they lost as much as $41 million. So compared to those incidents, the Gamdom hack doesn't look all that serious.

This past few weeks, more hacks has been targeting anything related to crypto. Both centralised and decentralised platforms, including casinos too. The more focus now seems to be targeting casino's. The rest of the big casino's guys should get ready. Anything can happen and they should be very ready to tackle the matter heads on.
For the casinos to make that move to transfer the coins to their cold wallet shows the effectiveness of having an active team.

With the way things are going, casinos and even exchanges needs no one to tell them not to leave much funds on hot wallets. Hackers can only have easier access to funds kept in hot wallets. It's scary these days, I know by now they're targeting another institution to steal from. We're really facing the adverse effects of cryptocurrency and AI this year. It's better casinos have a dedicated staff that refills the hot wallets manually when it's low, I don't trust automated refills from the cold storage at all. If it's slower, players should understand with the casinos. It's better slower than the funds are lost forever.
