I was recently browsing through posts on a well-known trader's Telegram channel. He often posts screenshots, income statements, links to asset price forecasts, and so on. Interestingly, he spends some of his trading winnings on casino games. His casino winnings are random and generally unprofitable compared to trading. This got me thinking. Many people claim that gambling is wrong for fun; there's always an ulterior motive to get rich. Why do you think traders play casino games in this case?

Why do you think traders play casino games in this case?
Perhaps, he is seeking entertainment on gambling because he like taking risk but this time in pure random basis. Trading risk can be calculated through better analysis so he might be seeking more fun on unknown. Many successful businessman that gain huge profit but still gamble for fun like Dana White with his good blackjack sessions. If we will use gambling the way it was designed, even a billionaire can still gamble if they find gambling a form of entertainment.

It is true that a trader plays casino games, but many people gamble for fun. You can say that the number of traders is relatively high because a person tries various ways to make money quickly. Some people like to advertise their profits, be it in casinos or trading. People who like gambling and trading in casinos like to take risks and yet have a reliable source of income. Taking risks is entertainment for them.

When trying to answer your question about why big traders play casino games, two things come to mind: either for fun, which is the most likely reason in my opinion.
Or perhaps there is another reason, such as comparing the risks of gambling with the risks of trading, since many believe that trading, like gambling, involves significant risks. Or maybe there is some other reason I am unaware of.

Because it's almost similar to it. The difference is the speed of getting money. The winning part. But sometimes they forget about the losing part of gambling.
I traded before, and I got bored because the money was really slow. Worse, it required sleepless nights and endless analysis to make something. I think a trader may choose to play at a casino in the expectation of getting profits the faster way. A successful trader may be making money out of trading but sometimes it could get boring and there are stressful times because it feels like a job. It doesn't feel like that when you are gambling.

Many people claim that gambling is wrong for fun; there's always an ulterior motive to get rich. Why do you think traders play casino games in this case?
If someone who is profitable in trading wants to spend some of their profits in a casino that means they are just gambling for entertainment. For them, it's a way to have some fun and relieve the stress that comes with trading. Just like regular people or those who run businesses or have jobs, when we earn our salary we always find ways to entertain ourselves and when we talk about entertainment that means we usually have to spend money, like going to bars, KTVs, eating out etc.

There are many cases where people become successful and wealthy through businesses they worked hard to build, only to end up ruining themselves through gambling. This is not about blaming gambling, but rather about a greedy mindset that always wants more and the belief that gambling can double their savings. So, casinos are clearly not to blame because gambling is supposed to be fun. If someone suffers huge losses and spends all their money, it means they have misunderstood how gambling works.

I don’t know why, but it doesn’t seem like a very smart move. Being a successful trader is a bit like being a successful sports bettor: you have a skill that allows you to make a profit, but it’s based on research and hard work. If, after all that, you gamble your winnings away at the casino, you’re undoing some of that hard work. Perhaps he does it because, unlike with trading, he doesn’t have to think too much at the casino.

Why do you think traders play casino games in this case?
I think it has something to do about the habits. I mean, If a person has been regularly dealing with profit, losses, and money in general, I guess it could be just a natural habit that they will also get involved with different type of hobby that involves risks just like trading, and gambling is closely similar to trading. So, the motive is either getting more profit or just to cure the urge to be in the action and risks of winning or lossing money through trading or gambling. I think there's also a fine line between addiction and pure hobby. In this case, looks like this person who has been successful in trading are just enjoying his hobby in dealing with risks and money.

Some, surely play in order to get rich, but, I think, most of them indeed play for fun. Gambling is a great way of relaxation. If your brain is working properly and you don't think that you can make money from gambling directly, indirectly you can money from gambling. Gambling helps you to relax and then work more effectively after a gambling session and you can make more money when you are not stressed and tired, but relaxed and in a good mood.

Gambling is not wrong for fun if you are not gambling as a source of income. Musicians like drake can be in this category also. From the trader's view, he is not particular about gambling with the mindset of sourcing for fun with it because he is making money from trading and then falling back to gambling as perhaps another part of fun, gambling with what he can afford. Why do you think traders play casino games in this case?
It depends on the trader because it is not all depending on what they enjoy doing and have passion for. But I see a reason to that too, which is because trading is an online stuff likewise casino games. So the possibility of exposure to do both is high as they are all online venture.

We can't just jump to the conclusion that he is actually unprofitable in trading as he is claiming because it may be either any of these scenario, the first one is that may be doing it for fun, and since it's one of those activities he loves doing, he always find himself engaging in it time and time again, but the other scenario is that he may be lying that he is successful in trading, so he is trying to salvage some winnings playing the casino games, because if someone is actually successful in trading, the only reason he will gamble on casino games is strictly for fun, not seeing it as an opportunity to make money.

You don't know this trader from youthful age, no one knows, which brings me to asking this question that what if this person was a gambler already? I have tasted gambling before I become better in trading, so there might be some love for gambling on ground already, when the opportunity to gamble presents itself this person will always grab it, this is normal but knowing if he is gambling for fun or there is other motives is something he only can explain.

I have doubts about whether it is really possible to make consistent profits in trading. There are many people who make deposits by showing this profit proof on Telegram. It may also be that the person who is betting on the gambling site from which he is making profits is also for marketing. Where that person is making some profit as a commission from the particular gambling site. And if we talk about personal desires, then trading is like a kind of betting. Where betting is based on uncertainty. Now, it may feel boring to do the same activity again on one type of interface, so maybe that same person is betting so that he gets some different entertainment.

Many people play games for fun, it doesn't make sense to you because you see business and profit in every thing, trading is also gambling too but I think that trader love to have fun playing casino. He isn't comparing the profit he gets from trading to the one he gets from playing casino because he aim with playing casino is not motivated by profit but by having fun.

I believe mostly because they are very similar the two of them. Gambling and trading both offer uncertainty and dopamine to people dealing with them, the same promise to become rich in a fast way but the reality is very few people have become rich through trading and gambling, in fact in gambling more people have become rich like winning lotteries or jackpots which is something traders cannot get. The problem is the addiction as even people who won lotteries or jackpots after a few years because of their addiction they got broke.

Who knows if the successful trader was also a gambler before? He was just trying to find another kind of fun that was more relaxing than thinking about trading. Does anyone who wants to gamble need to have a specific motive? Whether for fun or to seek wealth, it's their way of managing their money. Besides, only a portion of the profits from trading is used for gambling, it will not affect his finances in trading.

It really amuse me when i hear people say they are gambling for fun, that is a big fat lie, no one will want to be losing their money to gambling just for fun no matter how rich they are, to me why a successful trader would want to gamble is because of diversification, both gambling and trading are risky, hence a trader won’t mind gambling, he will see gambling as another means of making profit and will be happy to gamble knowing fully well that he won’t need as much analysis as he would require while trading. Regardless of one’s financial status, people always prefer to invest in newer areas, so am not surprised if a successful trader choses to gamble, it will just be that such a trader is trying to exploit newer opportunities in a different market.

Does the channel have a large number of subscribers? The only motive I can think of is leveraging that popularity to distribute referral or affiliate links. In terms of potential, earnings from such partnerships can sometimes be more attractive than the casino winnings themselves.
