A request to pin a thread.

I’m requesting this thread to be pinned in the gambling discussionCompilation of Sports/ League Topics.
The creator of the thread is joker_josue.
The reason why I feel the thread should be pinned in the gambling discussion thread is because is a compilation of all Sports/ League Topics, it makes it very easy to research for Sports/League threads.

I noticed he is ready to always update the thread so it should be pinned.

I sometimes struggle to find some of football league threads especially the ones that aren't played weekly but will need to be revisited during their competition schedules. I just went through the thread to find out that it actually contains all of them including the League Cup competition threads so I find it very helpful as well, it'll help reduce creation of new threads of similar existing ones. Hopefully, spammers will not see it as a means of bumping some of these threads with irrelevant discussions especially when the competitions they're named after aren't in action.

That's true. Some topics I see in the gambling thread aren't all that necessary and with this compilation done by Joker, it will help curb unnecessary creation of unhelpful threads just as you observed. The funny thing with this suggestion is that there'd still be those people who will ignore the pinned thread and try to make their own but I support the motion.

Imo, the thread deserves to be pined.

@Op, I think this kind of thread should be created as a poll, this will enable users to participate and help moderators of that board make decisions based on the poll results.

To pin a post in a thread doesn't require to create a fresh thread for it, during the discussion a moderator who is in charged of the board will decide to pin the topic if its good enough to be pinned, suggesting this, would have be nice for the same threads instead of creating new topic for it, I know that your idea is good for the gamblers who is more of interested in sport league discussion, but most of the compiled threads do bump up everytime due to frequent discussion alway take place there...

@joker_josue created that compilation thread to help forum ease the stress of going from one page to another searching for them in the gambling discussion board and to also reduce thread spamming(creating multiple threads with similar topics or discussions). @SuperBitMan created this thread to draw the attention of mods to pin it so the genuine intentions of @joker_josue can be achieved. These are the good sides...

But somehow, chronic spammers will see it as a means of bumping some of the league threads even when they're not in action just to raise unnecessary and irrelevant discussions. That's the downside

He can not always be ready to pin the thread. Because he is ready today, that does not means he will be ready tomorrow. There will later be more league discussions that may later not be included. It might not be this time, it can take 2 or 3 years from now. Anyone that want to visit the thread frequently can bookmark it on their browser or on their notepad.

Another thing is that I do not think the thread is worth to be pinned.

The thread can be supported by me to be pinned on the gambling section as a compilation of all other sports leagues discussion threads, but one thing that may not be possible is that every other thread as suggested or being listed on the thread cannot be merged together, secondly this does not combat the way people are spamming the gambling section, I have seen a number of discussions that suggest something similar but I don't think there is a final conclusion that makes it necessary to have all the leagues on a single thread, so I will only support this by saying it as a mega thread to information regarding sports leagues which we can recommend as necessary at any discussion, but not a solution to combating against gambling spam.

The idea is not bad. The problem is to keep it updated every season. I support to pin it until August 2027 then if it was abandoned, then to unpin it in September.
I fail to understand why some members open a second topic to discuss the same league? They left it unmoderated too to encourage the spam.. I believe the second topic should be locked by mods.

If I understand you right, you think the threads were compiled because people should be discussing about the leagues on a thread? No that is not the reason the thread was posted, it was posted for people to easily see all the league threads easily on a single topic, so they can click on the anyone among it that is interesting to them and post on the thread. That is the reason SuperBitMan want the thread to be pinned.

If admins or global moderators see that thread is really helpful for forum members who use the Gambling board, one of admins or one of global moderators will pin that thread.

It's not prohibited to let this thread opening for discussion but locking it and waiting for decision from admins/ global moderators will be another good choice.

Someone has opened a thread to talk about locking those league thread that are two but nothing has been done, I think mods are not even interested about locking them and I really don't know why.
There are some things that usually surprise me in this forum, when you report some important things to moderators they fail to take action and later complain about spam.

OP I agree with you, the thread should be pin, it will be helpful to everyone that visit the gambling discussion board.

I think it deserves to be pinned, it's an easy map to all important leagues and would save users some useful time in the future instead of going around the board manually. That thread brings a good UX to the gambling board, I just saw it now for the first time. It's a good candidate to get pinned.

At a time there was some sort of topics with discussions in the meta board regarding whether the posts in the gambling board specifically the sports topics be done with its many duplication threads. the EPL for a typical example has more than one thread for discussions for same league. Long talk cut short, nothing was concluded neither done about that, Mod didn't lock any one of those duplicates as they still gets discussions ongoing.

For that, i am not gonna be surprised if the OP request for the compile post of joker_josue isn't pinned. Not everything needs to be explained and am beginning to understand so myself. If it doesn't get pinned at last, any user that finds that compilation important to them can actually bookmark it for easy access just like  _act_ suggest.

I think calling the attention of the moderators to see the helpful thread and pin it was the primary objective of the Op, I also believe that creating a thread in the meta board will definitely pass the message to the  appropriate quarters.

Now that the awareness has been created, Op you shouldn't continue to leave the thread open. Lock it and allow the moderators take action. At the end of the day, they might not see enough reason in your argument to pin the thread just like you requested... And that's absolutely fine as well.

I was actually thinking that the only topic that is worth pinning on every section are the topic that contains rules of that subboard so, as a compilation I do not know if that thread is worth pinning as well.
Maybe, except the op of the requested thread would be allowed others to also update the topic, then they wouldn’t entirely abandon the topic so easily.

If moderator agreed to pin the the thread, their's no need to unpin it on September, because the op of the thread will be updating it often...But if you check well in gambling discussion sections, their's no pinned thread, I think it signifies something...

Almost 75% discussion in gambling sections are all of spam, but i think recent administration of forum is taking good care of it..

The gambling board is full of repetitive topics. If we can can mitigate the amount of duplicate threads in the board, post quality will improve. I find users in the football threads who have genuine discussions about the games played in the various leagues. Those discussions are more natural than people repeating all the things that is wrong with gambling irresponsibly.

talking about repetition of thread or duplicating thread, most people that are always talking about it here are the same persons that respond or reply to those thread.
‎I have seen a thread that was talking about using AI for prediction, and I saw that some reputable members that replied or commented on that thread, went ahead to comment on another thread that was created few days later talking about the same AI prediction.
‎if only we all can decide to avoid those kind of thread, I believe those creating them are going to stop.
‎mods are even tired of deleting duplicated thread on that gambling discussion board. I also think more mods should put an eye in that board.

Done. If problems arise in the future, such as if it stops being updated, then someone can complain about that in Meta and it can easily be unstickied again.

People should not lock threads prematurely. If a topic in Meta is locked before I've looked into it deeply, then I generally consider it resolved, and I ignore it. If a topic in Meta keeps being bumped by lots of different people, then I often take that as a sign that I need to look into it more.
