Already paying for Claude Pro, Claude Max, or ChatGPT Plus? Using those models in Cursor usually means paying for API usage separately. Your subscription does not give you an API key you can paste into Cursor.

I built Ungate, an open-source extension that connects Claude and ChatGPT subscriptions to Cursor's native chat. You sign in through OAuth in your browser and select the models in Cursor's usual model picker.

What it supports:
  • Claude and ChatGPT in the same conversation, switchable through the model picker.
  • Cursor's agent tools: file edits, terminal commands, and planning.
  • The native context and diff-review workflow, rather than a separate provider panel.
  • A dashboard for provider settings, models, request statistics, and logs.

For example, ask GPT to draft a solution, then switch to Claude to review it without moving the conversation to another panel. Turn proxying off when you want to use Composer through Cursor's normal billing, then turn it back on to continue with your subscription models.

Unlike the official Claude Code and Codex extensions, Ungate does not bring another agent into the editor. Cursor remains the agent; Ungate connects it to the provider models.

Under the hood, a local proxy translates the request and response formats, including tool calls. A Cloudflare tunnel makes it reachable by Cursor's backend, which cannot access your laptop's localhost. Ungate manages the tunnel, so there is no manual cloudflared setup.

To try it, search for @id:orchidfiles.ungate in Cursor's Extensions panel. Connect your account in the dashboard, start the tunnel, and copy the URL, proxy key, and model IDs into Cursor settings. The full setup guide walks through those steps. You need a Cursor plan with custom OpenAI provider settings enabled.

Your normal subscription limits still apply. This is an unofficial integration, not endorsed by Cursor, Anthropic, or OpenAI, and using subscription credentials through a third-party client may conflict with provider terms.

The code is MIT-licensed. Feedback and issues from other Cursor users are welcome.
