Basic Question: Are you the people? Please reply! Some people say we the people is the majority or consensus. Other people say we the people is everyone. There are also those who say we the people are an elite class of rulers or representatives. I'm excited to see answers because I have put what feels like tens of hours into this question. The people are not just voters, we are the people, whether majority or minority. On a voting system, people under the age of 18 are not allowed to vote in my country, and these restricted age groups make for a huge part of the people. The law made it so to keep under 18s out of making decision off their consent. It's true that eliminating the restriction would increase the number of voters, but it'll make no difference in deciding who the people are; how we think or make a leader.

Democracy sure has very deep loopholes. I think the better question should be, is democracy really for everybody. Before democracy came into existence, there were communities that were doing just fine the way they were ruling their country or communities. It is when the invasion of Europeans in communities that brought about the change to democracy and they forgot the system that once worked for them and used another system that they don't fully understand.
Democracy is good, but not for everyone.

We are the people literally speaking but when it comes to Implementing poliies that makes the people or why we call them the people. When the democratic system of government, then it's the government for the peopleb, by the people, but today it's now government for the government for the government with the government. Paying Willing voters in other to buy there votes for person and selfish interest.

But since the government was elected democratically, the people have been isolated and instead of ensuring all the rights of the people, their rights have been taken away. That is, in a democratic country, the people are only the people in name and are separated from their original definition. Where the people are the source of all power, the people are just a deprived entity.

MJ sang we are the world and its people, so, politicians are mere people who claim not to be the people, like humans refusing to identify as animals . Discrepancies runs in our bloodlines, certain people want to be identified as elites and most important amongst other bodies in a nation.

There is a difference between being counted as one of the people and actually having a say in how decisions are being made. Someone can belong to a community, obey the laws of the community and then live with the consequences of its decisions without having any real influence over them. The issue is not only about who qualifies as the people but also about who gets heard when decisions are being made. Another thing we should know is that being included in a group does not always means having a voice in it.

We are the people when it comes to democracy but down here in my country, we are not the people when it comes to casting our votes to elect our own leader. INEC have become the people because of corruption since, they manipulate the election results and put whomever, gives them the biggest funds.
When it comes to decision making, the government are also the people because they don't ask the citizens about their opinions before implementing laws that will favor them alone. The people voices are no longer heard.

Op asked a very deep question. In a normal sense, when we hear people say "we, the people ", whatever they are saying was supposed to represent the collective interest of everyone or even the majority. Ofcourse we know what plays out now, especially for some of us from Africa who are "blessed" with bad leaders. So in determining whether we are the people, the situation or event at any given point will tell us if the decision being made puts us into consideration or the decision just wants to use us as usual. Even votes can now be manipulated. It could be that we have really stopped being the people or we are gradually getting to the point where we stop being the people finally.

They have a lot of responsibility and also accountability for the people whom they serve. I think after reading the article I can say that sometimes it is unfair to minorities and just having elections does not mean that everyone is getting equal representation but I think expecting your anonymous consent from everyone is very difficult in practice. People usually have different priorities they have different interests and different beliefs, so just expecting them to agree on something equal or same on every decision is quite impossible. If a system is based on voluntary cooperation, it needs a way to handle it if any sort of this agreement occurs and also to protect the rights of the people. Consider me one of the people like every other individual, I should but being part of it means having a proper voice and also having equal rights, not just simply becoming a count with majority support.

Some people say we the people is the majority or consensus. Other people say we the people is everyone.
From a theoretical or constitutional point of view, every citizen of the country is part of the people, but in practical application, it comes down to the opinion of the majority. It is impossible for 100% of the people to agree when making any state decision. So in a democratic system, whichever way 51 percent of the people vote, it is assumed to be the decision of the entire people. The biggest limitation of this is that the remaining 49 percent of the people are also part of that people, but their opinions are not reflected in the final decision. There are also those who say we the people are an elite class of rulers or representatives.
Common people no longer go directly to parliament to make laws or determine the country's economic policy, they just vote and elect representatives every few years. But after the elections are over, when those representatives or the elite class impose new taxes or cause inflation for their own or a special group's benefit, that too is done in the name of the people. Although it is said on paper that power is in the hands of the common people, at the end of the day this phrase works more as a means of legitimizing the decisions of the ruling class.

"We the people" is a very straightforward phrase and doesn't need much grammers to elaborate it, in another sentence it simply means the wish of the people in a community or the society at large. In every country the common people on the street are the people and what they aspire in their country is what "the people" wants, and ideally what the ordinary man on the street wants is equal right and justice and for the leaders to do what is right and favorable to the ordinary citizens.
Unfortunately the "we the people" in many countries are the politicians and the elites, they are corrupt and selfish, they don't care about the wellbeing of the ordinary citizens who are supposed to be the people. As long as the crooked policies favors their selfish interests they are happy, if the laws of the country no longer favors them they will change it. Democracy has been rubished in many undeveloped countries, they don't respect the rights of the ordinary people so the phrase "we the people" is not applicable to the ordinary people in their countries.
