I am not too sure that this small-scale festival is able to have a big impact on the country's economy because it can be calculated by the number of visitors or the amount of transactions during the event, therefore the impact is only felt in the local scope. The money turnover is not very wide.

Trade fairs help to reduce the distribution of expired goods into the market. In big stores like a mall or supermarket products are arranged according to their expiring dates. The outer or accessible products in a row are close to getting expired. During trade fairs some of the inventories that are so close to getting expired but wasn't sold at the shop gets distributed at cheaper rate to consumers, a win win outcome for the store's management who would conclude that it's better sold cheaper than wasted. 

I have also noticed that during fairs the prices of goods are always very cheap and because of this people buys at large quantities to resell at there own price later. Fairs gains attraction of local and foreign attention depending on the content sold in the fair.
Where there are goods and services that gains international attraction it will increase the countries income such as recreation centers, amusement parks, theatre, what falls and more.

Economically speaking I don't think that, it has any direct impact on the economy, but what I know about trade fair is that there is a general reduction in the price of goods that are been sold. I believe that every country has one form of trade fair or the other depending on the country. Usually trade fairs are always done during festive seasons where people are celebrating, companies and other bodies use this such times to advertise their products, by giving a discount on the product that are been sold.

The essence of it is to create awareness and publicity, so that they can use such time to launch a product. In the other way round some companies use trade fair as a time to give back to society,VA's they use these trade fairs to create joy among the people.

I can’t count the number of times funfair, trade fairs occurs in my place here, there are numerous of them but I’m not the type that attends must of them because I don’t like public places that much. About its effect on the economy, I think they come with a lesser price compare to their usual price they’re known to sell those stuffs for, that’s why they attract many people to go and attend those fairs. The fun there and excitement is also part of what makes it attractive to attend for most people. I think I have seen a food fair, a book fair, I think even a hair fair ( I dnt attend that one, but I know it happened, not even too long ago). And even Bole fair and to be honest, my experience in most of these are not that great and sometimes I think it's because I carry too much expectations from them because I always feel at a fair, the price of these items should be cheaper and easily accessible as it would be in abundance then unfortunately because the organisers of the event are trying to make money, they charge the vendors stupidly and then in return because they have to make up what hey spent to set up, these vendors will now 2x, 3x the price of things. That's just my bad experience with fairs in my environment.

We also have that and I think that the main impact of it in relation to economy is about the tourism. Local and international tourists are coming in it.

Calabar in Nigeria holds a big street party that comes with trade fairs and exhibitions where the sell lots of items and this attracts both local and international visitors every Christmas. It should be the biggest in Africa of I'm not mistaken.During this period different bands parade the road with colorful attire with lots of celebrities participating in them. Although items sold during this period are much more expensive because of the cost of renting spaces or installing stands at this trade fair.

The price of things can never be reduced or traded with fair prices because these traders are here to make as much money they can get because they know what comes the following year. The Nigeria economy is not moving and things seems to be dormant and inflation hits the economy unexpectedly. Calabar is a busy city when it's Christmas but I'm thinking, since this ceremony brings harmony and peace, the organizers should sort out means which they can comfortably allow traders sells things low despite the high cost of living because we know things are not just working in favor of nigerians. This ceremony do bring people together through different means of entertainment, culture, music and creates Business opportunities. We just have to strive with our strength inother to reach the very top.

Yes, fairs in my city happen quite often because my city is multicultural.. Every month you can find fairs with different themes, like Indian, Chinese, local ethnic, etc.. Usually, fairs like this attract quite a lot of visitors, especially when they're held in the city center, it gets really crowded. But I haven't visited a fair for a few months now.. it's just that the economy has been tough lately, so I need to save money and not spend it on unnecessary things.. Plus, these days, the prices of items at the fair are just unreasonable.. you can find bottled water costing twice as much as the regular price in the supermarket.. not to mention the prices of food and drinks, in my opinion, they're just not worth it.. Once in a while, it might be okay to visit, but more frequently, I think it's not a good idea.

Many refrain from spending money, in my country just experienced a massive stock drop crisis and it gave a big influence on all the people to look for alternative money storage such as stablecoins instead of fiat.

We have this every weekend in our area, and I can say the effect is not that huge but this could be a big help for small entrepreneurs because they can now market their goods and services with those people coming in and out of the area. But with a lot of sellers who are there, the local government also gained a substantial amount of rent every week and this could be considered another profit opportunity for them.

Yes, the purchasing power may be increasingly low, but it does not lose the fact that the local government is still making revenues from this small fair.

I noticed there are some here who kind of dismiss the effect of such market setup in the economy. I highly disagree, at least as far as my country is concerned. Such markets may not be the main thing that drives the economy, but they play a very important role in local economy, in towns and cities and villages. However, in my opinion, such fairs cannot improve a country economically much, but they do it for the purpose of maintaining the culture of a country. In our country, as well as in all the surrounding nations, there are various national or religious observances. For instance, you mentioned Eid and there are also the religious festivals celebrated by followers of Hinduism; in fact, one of the most significant religious festivals for the Hindu community is currently underway in India and its neighboring countries. Similarly, every nation has its own set of religious or national observances, which the people celebrate in accordance with their local customs and traditions. You have already highlighted several such examples, all of which are rooted in the social or religious practices of those respective cultures.

There are many places in my country where weekly markets are held where daily necessities along with livestock are bought and sold. I spent most of my childhood in the village and saw that traditionally there were weekly or monthly local markets. Many traders used to come to these markets from far away and sell/Buy products.

Fairs are also organized around various events in my country where a large number of buyers and sellers gather. Preserving the heritage of a country and organizing weekly or monthly fairs/markets has a positive impact on the economy of a country. Farmers from remote areas of the village come to these markets to sell their products and livestock and by buying and selling, they can improve their financial condition and buy daily necessities. Local markets are important in poverty alleviation and also increase the government's revenue.

I'm very familiar with the fair you are talking about and I can tell you that it doesn't affect the country's economy in anyway, both negatively or positively it doesn't matter, a fair happens once in a year so tell me what changes it's going to bring to the economy?

I also remember some online stores in my country doing some discount sales every once in a year, funny enough all the goods with those discounts are the goods that people don't want to buy, those that has took too long on their shelf.

To me fair is just a group of people or organisations trying to market their things by introducing discounts, or trying to create some attention to the audience and have some good time.

In every country, there are different fairs/exibitions... constantly throughout the year. We always know when the fairs are, in which month, and one of my favorite ones is "Wine fair", usally mid August:



It's the time when different companies (small & big ones) have a chance to present their products, and see the public reaction. It's marketing... people visit these fairs and have a chance to talk with the people behind it, see something new & interesting. It's a place where we have a chance to test different products and maybe buy them at a discount.

You know, these events bring similar people together. So it's always fun to visit them, talk with people... there's always something new to be seen/tested/learned...

So maybe there's no direct effect on the country's economy, but strong companies have a positive effect on the country's economy.

Goods that gain international attractions like the shell of cashew nuts used for the productions of foot rugs, barely make it to local trade fairs, due to high demands, and the shortage in supply compared to demands. Whatever export goods hardly stay up to the trade fair season in our localities, except for international trade fairs held abroad where export goods get sourced domestically or internationally to fill up exhibitions.

Fairs are very important in our lives. In a busy schedule, when you have a way to have fun, you get a kind of refreshment, which also helps improve personal growth. In our country, Pakistan, fairs are given great respect from a religious point of view. Besides religious fairs, many cultural fairs are also seen throughout the year. During Eid ul Azha, different kinds of small businesses start up. Specifically, trade in animals increased for sacrifices on the day of the fair. Many other businesses also grow, especially clothing and shoe businesses.
