You can call it carnival or fair or may be an exhibition where usually people buy and sell things. That can be grocery, tool, an animal, a bird or a vehicle. Most of the time a similar thing is sold in a fair like on Eid-ul-Adha goats, lamb and cows etc are bought and sold. I have seen horse fair, book fair , food fair or stalls and a common fair where people visit to buy their needed things on a cheap price.
Does fairs like this occurs in your countries as well and how does such fairs effect the economy of a country in your opinion?

I don't think usual fair affect the economy much because it's mostly internal buyers, but some special fair like high level technology fair, rear products fair or something that can encourage or entice people to actually leave there own country and go to another country to witness it. Fair and carnival can be a tourist attraction which is very profitable to any nation and can boost that nation's economy.

Calabar in Nigeria holds a big street party that comes with trade fairs and exhibitions where the sell lots of items and this attracts both local and international visitors every Christmas. It should be the biggest in Africa of I'm not mistaken.During this period different bands parade the road with colorful attire with lots of celebrities participating in them. Although items sold during this period are much more expensive because of the cost of renting spaces or installing stands at this trade fair.

Well every country in the world has these sort of gatherings in major cities and towns, so unless you're in the wilderness one of them will probably be happening somewhere close to you. Carnivals and exhibitions are generally two quite different things - the first one is for celebration, sometimes people dress up, maybe there are fairground rides and amusements. Exhibitions might be like a conference or a showcase on one particular thing - esports competitions, card collectors, home DIY, franchisee opportunities, golfing exhibits, etc. They are usually organized once there are enough enthusiasts or businesses in a particular industry, so it can be harder for lower population countries or unpopular tourist destinations to drum up enough business to support them. I regularly attend different types in my country, particularly the ones with free entry and it can be quite fascinating to see all the wares and services on show.

I am not too sure that this small-scale festival is able to have a big impact on the country's economy because it can be calculated by the number of visitors or the amount of transactions during the event, therefore the impact is only felt in the local scope. The money turnover is not very wide, and seeing the current economic conditions, the purchasing power of the people is getting lower. Many refrain from spending money, in my country just experienced a massive stock drop crisis and it gave a big influence on all the people to look for alternative money storage such as stablecoins instead of fiat.

Most of these fair affect the economy of a particular region especially where the event is taking place, this is because people in those locations where the event is taking place are usually the ones that bring out their goods to sample during such event. It is sometimes difficult for a lot of persons that have goods that they want to showcase to bring it to some of those trade fairs or carnivals, this is because the distance to which the fair is happening is always a far one, so by the time they calculate how much it will take them to transport their goods to where the fair is happening, they will literally not gain anything from their sales. So basically the effect it will have on economy for such fair it's on residence that sells goods along those location.

There are local markets in my area. We don't call them markets here, but we call them bazaars or markets with specific names such as Friday market, Ramadan market, or similar names.
These local markets are small and do not affect the economy, but they are good for meeting citizens’ needs at prices cheaper than regular markets. They also create buying and selling activity that revitalizes the economy a little, but it does not have a significant impact. You need international exhibitions to see the impact on the economy.

They are part of the black market. They don't declare to the authorities about their trading activities. So they don't pay taxes. This is not the main problem, since the state could simply close its eyes to them and ignore them, helping her cope with the joblessness in the society. The real trouble with those vendors is that they are in competition with those who pay taxes and have activity licenses. So besides not paying taxes, they also cut the tax revenues from other taxable activities.

Trade fairs happen everywhere, and it is showcased as an avenue to buy cheap products. But I stopped going to trade fairs because things are not cheap. But it is an avenue to meet some brands since they usually send representatives to this event. Both local and international trade fair are beneficial to the economy because they allow buyers to meet with sellers. It is an avenue for potential buyers to meet sellers, and this can boost the commercial activities of the country.

I have been to so many trade fair events hosted by multinational companies where the staff comes together to discuss key important factors concerning products, security, business infrastructure and more. Some of these companies host among themselves the sector of companies to attend the exhibition - What I mean, a pharmaceutical company hosts trade fair event where other same multinational pharmaceutical companies come to exhibit their products, pills, syringes and more medical products. What I know is that, they do not sell their products at the event, they only register at the event to showcase their brand and their products, if other companies wants to request a price quotation, you can simply check them out on their site and make an offer even after the event.

These trade fairs happen regularly but the first thing is that business in such fairs usually thrives when the economy is good and people have a lot of spending power, not when the economy is poor and people are managing more than they are spending, focusing on the essential needs they have. Another thing with trade fairs around me is that there is usually a higher chance for them to have vendors who are selling substandard products because they know they can sell as they are offering it for a lower price. People know this and some avoid such fairs most if they can afford these products to buy for the normal cost from certified outlets.

I’d rather you call it an exhibition then.. I know it can literally still be called a trade fair but with these explanations you gave it’s just exhibitions happening in an event to showcase products. Exhibitions (trade exhibitions) involving multinational companies can actually be useful to the economy because it will likely have huge attendance from foreigners and it might also bring investments. But other than that, the normal trade fairs usually have little economic impact because it’s usually just people from the area or surroundings that come to the fair.

Yep, but they are not consistent. Maybe 2 times every month, and they sell mostly foods and souvenirs. About the effect on the economy? Nationally, as a country, I don't think it will have a significant effect, but locally, yes. Because fair helps create job and livelihood opportunities for our local farmers and workers. It also supports local brands and maybe boost tourism. So, if they get a lot of sales, that also means tax revenue for the local government. This is just a small business idea, and it does not happen regularly, so no, this will not have a direct effect to a country's economy.

The real trouble with those vendors is that they are in competition with those who pay taxes and have activity licenses. So besides not paying taxes, they also cut the tax revenues from other taxable activities. Thats not true, though, and not universally so. Most vendors at regional fairs operate under short-term municipal permits, pay daily stall rentals directly to city or municipality where the fair is held, and buy their stock through formal distribution networks that already levied VAT upstream. The tax collector already taken his portion. But there are other examples, too. In my country, for example, if you are a vendor and you are selling at a public stall (which can be a registered individual sole trader, family farm or commercial company), you need to provide a fiscalized receipt linked to the Tax Administration in real time. Inspectors perform on-site inspections at the event and are imposing heavy fines or or immediate shutdown if there is any non-compliance. I would find it hard to call that a "black market."

Carnival Night Market is in my country, there is even a market called The Sunday market, Friday market, Wednesday market, so this market will be held on the day mentioned. Sales of various kinds, including food, meat, vegetables, clothes, shoes or so many of its types, these have all pocketed permission from the organizers and traders pay the following stall rent with its taxes, that's all we know. It does not affect the country's economy because the scale of its money turnover is very small, so it is more to help lower-middle trade where money turnover in the area continues to increase.

Yes, fairs are very common in our area, especially when there is religious festival or any other special occasion like Independence day or days like that. For example on Eid specially on eid al adha, there are animal market where people from all over the country come together to buy and sell their animal like cows, sheep, and goats. There are also different type of food stalls, book fair and local exhibition in our area where people go and enjoy themselves with other fun activities and they also purchase different item as well.
Fairs have very positive impact on the economy of the country because they provide temporary job to people and also help and support small businesses and also give opportunities to the local sellers to sell their products and earn money. As there are different sellers in one place, people can easily get products with their prices, they can easily compare different sellers as they are present in one place.
If these fairs are organised more properly, with proper pricing and also with better facilities for the visitors then it can benefit the economy in better way. So fairs are not only source of entertainment but they are also way to earn money support local trade and help people improve their livelihood.

Reading everyone's comments, it seems that fairs are held in almost all countries, but the type of fairs varies from place to place. In my region, there are also different types of fairs where buyers and sellers meet at certain times of the year or at certain times of the month. There are some fairs that are organized to inspire entrepreneurs or to showcase new discoveries. But the fair I like the most is the vegetable fair, all kinds of local farmers participate in this fair with their crops. This fair is organized on a specific day of the week at a specific place where no permission is required, but at the end of the fair, the farmers have to pay some money to the organizers and the organizers take permission from the local administration in exchange for some money. The specialty of this fair is that fresh and organic vegetables are available at low prices. These fairs may not play a big role in the economy, but their role is undeniable

Trade fairs help to reduce the distribution of expired goods into the market. In big stores like a mall or supermarket products are arranged according to their expiring dates. The outer or accessible products in a row are close to getting expired. During trade fairs some of the inventories that are so close to getting expired but wasn't sold at the shop gets distributed at cheaper rate to consumers, a win win outcome for the store's management who would conclude that it's better sold cheaper than wasted.

At this time, when farmers are relying on artificial processes of planting and harvesting, processing, and packaging food, attending a fair for natural fruits will be good. It would be a good time to restock your fruit store once a week with healthy fruits. Nevertheless, I have never seen a fruit fair in my country. Fresh fruits are always available in markets. Most of the fairs we have here are for technological tools like phones, computers, electronics, cars, and even real estate.

In the past, during the month of Ramadan, there used to be tents set up here, much like a bazaar or fair. I believe markets like this should be held a few days a week the streets need to be lively so that people can sell their goods and create things there needs to be that kind of cycle. That’s why I really like night markets, but unfortunately, it’s not a common cultural practice in the country where I live.
